Katamo viseso? ¾raddhav²riyassa sa½yojan± pah²yanti, anusay± byant² honti– aya½ viseso. Aya½ kakacopam±. Idha panassa ±gat±gatavasena amanasik±ramattameva payojananti veditabba½. Ida½ kammaµµh±na½ manasikaroto kassaci nacireneva nimittańca uppajjati, avasesajjh±naŖgapaµimaŗ¹it± appan±saŖkh±t± µhapan± ca sampajjati. Kassaci pana gaŗan±vaseneva manasik±rak±latopabhuti anukkamato o¼±rika-ass±sapass±sanirodhavasena k±yadarathe v³pasante k±yopi cittampi lahuka½ hoti, sar²ra½ ±k±se laŖghan±k±rappatta½ viya hoti. Yath± s±raddhak±yassa mańce v± p²µhe v± nis²dato mańcap²µha½ onamati, vik³jati, paccattharaŗa½ vali½ gaŗh±ti. As±raddhak±yassa pana nis²dato neva mańcap²µha½ onamati, na vik³jati, na paccattharaŗa½ vali½ gaŗh±ti, t³lapicup³rita½ viya mańcap²µha½ hoti. Kasm±? Yasm± as±raddho k±yo lahuko hoti; evameva gaŗan±vasena manasik±rak±latopabhuti anukkamato o¼±rika-ass±sapass±sanirodhavasena k±yadarathe v³pasante k±yopi cittampi lahuka½ hoti, sar²ra½ ±k±se laŖghan±k±rappatta½ viya hoti.
Tassa o¼±rike ass±sapass±se niruddhe sukhuma-ass±sapass±sanimitt±rammaŗa½ citta½ pavattati, tasmimpi niruddhe apar±para½ tato sukhumatarasukhumatamanimitt±rammaŗa½ pavattatiyeva. Katha½? Yath± puriso mahatiy± lohasal±k±ya ka½sat±¼a½ ±koµeyya, ekappah±rena mah±saddo uppajjeyya, tassa o¼±rikasadd±rammaŗa½ citta½ pavatteyya, niruddhe o¼±rike sadde atha pacch± sukhumasaddanimitt±rammaŗa½, tasmimpi niruddhe apar±para½ tato sukhumatarasukhumatamasaddanimitt±rammaŗa½ citta½ pavattateva; evanti veditabba½. Vuttampi ceta½– “seyyath±pi ka½se ±koµite”ti (paµi. ma. 1.171) vitth±ro.
Yath± hi ańń±ni kammaµµh±n±ni upar³pari vibh³t±ni honti, na tath± ida½. Ida½ pana upar³pari bh±ventassa bh±ventassa sukhumatta½ gacchati, upaµµh±nampi na upagacchati. Eva½ anupaµµhahante pana tasmi½ na tena bhikkhun± uµµh±y±san± cammakhaŗ¹a½ papphoµetv± gantabba½. Ki½ k±tabba½? “¾cariya½ pucchiss±m²”ti v± “naµµha½ d±ni me kammaµµh±nan”ti v± na vuµµh±tabba½, iriy±patha½ vikopetv± gacchato hi kammaµµh±na½ navanavameva hoti. Tasm± yath±nisinneneva desato ±haritabba½.
Tatr±ya½ ±haraŗ³p±yo. Tena hi bhikkhun± kammaµµh±nassa anupaµµhahanabh±va½ ńatv± iti paµisańcikkhitabba½– “ime ass±sapass±s± n±ma kattha atthi, kattha natthi, kassa v± atthi, kassa v± natth²”ti. Kińc±pi hi ya½kińci kammaµµh±na½ satassa sampaj±nasseva sampajjati, ito ańńa½ pana manasikarontassa p±kaµa½ hoti. Yath± hi maµµhas±µakassa tunnakaraŗak±le s³cipi sukhum± icchitabb±, s³cip±savedhanampi tato sukhumatara½; evameva maµµhas±µakasadisassa imassa kammaµµh±nassa bh±van±k±le s³cipaµibh±g± satipi s³cip±savedhanapaµibh±g± ta½sampayutt± pańń±pi balavat² icchitabb±. Yath± pana kassako kasi½ kasitv± balibadde muńcitv± gocar±bhimukhe katv± ch±y±ya nisinno vissameyya, athassa te balibadd± vegena aµavi½ paviseyyu½. Yo hoti cheko kassako so puna te gahetv± yojetuk±mo na tesa½ anupada½ gantv± aµavi½ ±hiŗ¹ati. Atha kho rasmińca patodańca gahetv± ujukameva tesa½ nip±tatittha½ gantv± nis²dati v± nipajjati v±. Atha te goŗe divasabh±ga½ caritv± nip±tatittha½ otaritv± nhatv± ca pivitv± ca paccuttaritv± µhite disv± rasmiy± bandhitv± patodena vijjhanto ±netv± yojetv± puna kamma½ karoti; evameva tena bhikkhun± na te ass±sapass±s± ańńatra pakatiphuµµhok±s± pariyesitabb±. Satirasmi½ pana pańń±patodańca gahetv± pakatiphuµµhok±se citta½ µhapetv± manasik±ro pavattetabbo. Evańhissa manasikaroto nacirasseva te upaµµhahanti, nip±tatitthe viya goŗ±. Tato tena satirasmiy± bandhitv± tasmi½yeva µh±ne yojetv± pańń±patodena vijjhantena puna kammaµµh±na½ anuyuńjitabba½; tassevamanuyuńjato nacirasseva nimitta½ upaµµh±ti. Ta½ paneta½ na sabbesa½ ekasadisa½ hoti apica kho kassaci sukhasamphassa½ upp±dayam±no t³lapicu viya, kapp±sapicu viya, v±tadh±r± viya ca upaµµh±t²ti ekacce ±hu.
Aya½ pana aµµhakath±vinicchayo– idańhi kassaci t±rakar³pa½ viya, maŗigu¼ik± viya, mutt±gu¼ik± viya ca kassaci kharasamphassa½ hutv± kapp±saµµhi viya, s±rad±rus³ci viya ca kassaci d²ghap±maŖgasutta½ viya, kusumad±ma½ viya, dh³masikh± viya ca kassaci vitthata makkaµakasutta½ viya, val±hakapaµala½ viya, padumapuppha½ viya, rathacakka½ viya, candamaŗ¹ala½ viya, s³riyamaŗ¹ala½ viya ca upaµµh±ti. Tańca paneta½ yath± sambahulesu bhikkh³su suttanta½ sajjh±yitv± nisinnesu ekena bhikkhun± “tumh±ka½ k²disa½ hutv± ida½ sutta½ upaµµh±t²”ti vutte eko “mayha½ mahat² pabbateyy± nad² viya hutv± upaµµh±t²”ti ±ha. Aparo “mayha½ ek± vanar±ji viya”. Ańńo “mayha½ s²tacch±yo s±kh±sampanno phalabh±rabharitarukkho viy±”ti. Tesańhi ta½ ekameva sutta½ sańń±n±nat±ya n±nato upaµµh±ti. Eva½ ekameva kammaµµh±na½ sańń±n±nat±ya n±nato upaµµh±ti. Sańńajańhi eta½ sańń±nid±na½ sańń±ppabhava½ tasm± sańń±n±nat±ya n±nato upaµµh±t²ti veditabba½.
Ettha ca ańńameva ass±s±rammaŗa½ citta½, ańńa½ pass±s±rammaŗa½, ańńa½ nimitt±rammaŗa½ yassa hi ime tayo dhamm± natthi, tassa kammaµµh±na½ neva appana½ na upac±ra½ p±puŗ±ti. Yassa panime tayo dhamm± atthi, tasseva kammaµµh±na½ appanańca upac±rańca p±puŗ±ti. Vuttańheta½–
“Nimitta½ ass±sapass±s±, an±rammaŗamekacittassa;
aj±nato ca tayo dhamme, bh±van±nupalabbhati.
“Nimitta½ ass±sapass±s±, an±rammaŗamekacittassa;

Eva½ upaµµhite pana nimitte tena bhikkhun± ±cariyasantika½ gantv± ±rocetabba½– “mayha½, bhante, evar³pa½ n±ma upaµµh±t²”ti. ¾cariyena pana “eta½ nimittan”ti v± “na nimittan”ti v± na vattabba½. “Eva½ hoti, ±vuso”ti vatv± pana “punappuna½ manasi karoh²”ti vattabbo. “Nimittan”ti hi vutte vos±na½ ±pajjeyya; “na nimittan”ti vutte nir±so vis²deyya. Tasm± tadubhayampi avatv± manasik±reyeva niyojetabboti. Eva½ t±va d²ghabh±ŗak±. Majjhimabh±ŗak± pan±hu– “nimittamida½, ±vuso, kammaµµh±na½ punappuna½ manasi karohi sappuris±ti vattabbo”ti. Ath±nena nimitteyeva citta½ µhapetabba½. Evamass±ya½ ito pabhuti µhapan±vasena bh±van± hoti. Vuttańheta½ por±ŗehi–
“Nimitte µhapaya½ citta½, n±n±k±ra½ vibh±vaya½;
dh²ro ass±sapass±se, saka½ citta½ nibandhat²”ti. (Visuddhi. 1.232; paµi. ma. aµµha. 2.1.163).
Tasseva½ nimittupaµµh±nato pabhuti n²varaŗ±ni vikkhambhit±neva honti kiles± sannisinn±va sati upaµµhit±yeva, citta½ sam±hitameva. Idańhi dv²h±k±rehi citta½ sam±hita½ n±ma hohi– upac±rabh³miya½ v± n²varaŗappah±nena, paµil±bhabh³miya½ v± aŖgap±tubh±vena. Tattha “upac±rabh³m²”ti upac±rasam±dhi; “paµil±bhabh³m²”ti appan±sam±dhi. Tesa½ ki½ n±n±karaŗa½? Upac±rasam±dhi kusalav²thiya½ javitv± bhavaŖga½ otarati, appan±sam±dhi divasabh±ge appetv± nisinnassa divasabh±gampi kusalav²thiya½ javati, na bhavaŖga½ otarati. Imesu dv²su sam±dh²su nimittap±tubh±vena upac±rasam±dhin± sam±hita½ citta½ hoti Ath±nena ta½ nimitta½ neva vaŗŗato manasik±tabba½, na lakkhaŗato paccavekkhitabba½. Apica kho khattiyamahesiy± cakkavattigabbho viya kassakena s±liyavagabbho viya ca appamattena rakkhitabba½; rakkhita½ hissa phalada½ hoti.
“Nimitta½ rakkhato laddha, parih±ni na vijjati;
±rakkhamhi asantamhi, laddha½ laddha½ vinassat²”ti.
Tatr±ya½ rakkhaŗ³p±yo– tena bhikkhun± ±v±so, gocaro, bhassa½, puggalo, bhojana½, utu, iriy±pathoti im±ni satta asapp±y±ni vajjetv± t±neva satta sapp±y±ni sevantena punappuna½ ta½ nimitta½ manasik±tabba½.
Eva½ sapp±yasevanena nimitta½ thira½ katv± vu¹¹hi½ vir³¼hi½ gamayitv± vatthuvisadakiriy±, indriyasamattapaµip±danat±, nimittakusalat±, yasmi½ samaye citta½ sapaggahetabba tasmi½ samaye cittapaggaŗhan±, yasmi½ samaye citta½ niggahetabba½ tasmi½ samaye cittaniggaŗhan±, yasmi½ samaye citta½ sampaha½setabba½ tasmi½ samaye sampaha½setabba½ tasmi½ samaye cittasampaha½san±, yasmi½ samaye citta½ ajjhupekkhitabba½ tasmi½ samaye citta-ajjhupekkhan±, asam±hitapuggalaparivajjan±, sam±hitapuggalasevan±, tadadhimuttat±ti im±ni dasa appan±kosall±ni avijahantena yogo karaŗ²yo.
