Api ca, dv²hi k±raºehi appaka½ j²vita½ thoka½ j²vita½– µhitiparittat±ya v± appaka½ j²vita½, sarasaparittat±ya v± appaka½ j²vita½. Katha½ µhitiparittat±ya v± appaka½ j²vita½? careyy±dittas²sova natthi maccussan±gamo.
“Accayanti ahoratt±, j²vita½ uparujjhati;
±yu khiyyati macc±na½, kunnad²na½va odakan”ti.

“Dahar± ca mahant± ca, ye b±l± ye ca paº¹it±;
sabbe maccuvasa½ yanti, sabbe maccupar±yan±.
“Tesa½ maccuparet±na½, gacchata½ paralokato;
na pit± t±yate putta½, ñ±t² v± pana ñ±take.
“Pekkhataññeva ñ±t²na½, passa l±lappata½ puthu;
ekamekova macc±na½, govajjho viya niyyati;
evamabbh±hato loko, maccun± ca jar±ya c±”ti.

“Appa½ vata j²vita½ ida½, ora½ vassasat±pi miyyati;
yo cepi aticca j²vati, atha kho so jaras±pi miyyat²”ti.
40. Socanti jan± mam±yite, na hi santi nicc± pariggah±;
vin±bh±va½ santamevida½, iti disv± n±g±ram±vase.
Socanti jan± mam±yiteti. Jan±ti khattiy± ca br±hmaº± ca vess± ca sudd± ca gahaµµh± ca pabbajit± ca dev± ca manuss± ca. Mamatt±ti dve mamatt±– taºh±mamattañca diµµhimamattañca…pe… ida½ taºh±mamatta½…pe… ida½ diµµhimamatta½. Mam±yita½ vatthu½ acchedasaªkinopi socanti, acchijjantepi socanti, acchinnepi socanti. Mam±yita½ vatthu½ vipariº±masaªkinopi socanti, vipariº±mantepi socanti, vipariºatepi socanti kilamanti paridevanti uratt±¼i½ kandanti sammoha½ ±pajjant²ti– socanti jan± mam±yite. Na hi santi nicc± pariggah±ti. Dve pariggah±– taºh±pariggaho ca diµµhipariggaho ca…pe… aya½ taºh±pariggaho…pe… aya½ diµµhipariggaho. Taºh±pariggaho anicco saªkhato paµiccasamuppanno khayadhammo vayadhammo vir±gadhammo nirodhadhammo vipariº±madhammo. Diµµhipariggahopi anicco saªkhato paµiccasamuppanno khayadhammo vayadhammo vir±gadhammo nirodhadhammo vipariº±madhammo. Vuttañheta½ bhagavat±– “passatha no tumhe, bhikkhave, ta½ pariggaha½ yv±ya½ pariggaho nicco dhuvo sassato avipariº±madhammo sassatisama½ tatheva µhassat²”ti? “No heta½, bhante”. “S±dhu, bhikkhave! Ahampi kho eta½, bhikkhave, pariggaha½ na samanupass±mi, yv±ya½ pariggaho nicco dhuvo sassato avipariº±madhammo sassatisama½ tatheva µhassat²”ti. Pariggah± nicc± dhuv± sassat± avipariº±madhamm± natthi na santi na sa½vijjanti na labbhant²ti– na hi santi nicc± pariggah±. Vin±bh±va½ santamevidanti. N±n±bh±ve vin±bh±ve aññath±bh±ve sante sa½vijjam±ne upalabbhiyam±ne. Vuttañheta½ bhagavat±– “ala½, ±nanda! M± soci m± paridevi. Nanu eta½, ±nanda, may± paµikacceva [paµigacceva (s².)] akkh±ta½ ‘sabbeheva piyehi man±pehi n±n±bh±vo vin±bh±vo aññath±bh±vo. Ta½ kutettha, ±nanda, labbh±– ya½ ta½ j±ta½ bh³ta½ saªkhata½ palokadhamma½ ta½ vata m± palujj²’ti! Neta½ µh±na½ vijjati. Purim±na½ purim±na½ khandh±na½ dh±t³na½ ±yatan±na½ vipariº±maññath±bh±v± pacchim± pacchim± khandh± ca dh±tuyo ca ±yatan±ni ca pavattant²”ti– vin±bh±va½ santamevida½. Iti disv± n±g±ram±vaseti. etampi viditv±na [eta½ disv±na (s². ka.)] paº¹ito, na mamatt±ya nametha m±mako.
