Atha s± tasmi½ niddamupagate bhatta½ samp±detv± ta½ pabodhetv± bhatta½ bhojesi. So tuµµho tass± saddhi½ bhattakaroµiy± kah±paºasahassa½ ad±si. So pañc±vudha½ tattheva µhapetv± “gantabbaµµh±na½ me atth²”ti vatv± v²ºa½ ±d±ya hatthis±la½ gantv± “ajja me idha vasitu½ detha, gandhabba½ vo kariss±m²”ti vatv± hatthigopakehi anuññ±to ekamante nipajjitv± thoka½ nidd±yitv± paµippassaddhadaratho uµµh±ya v²ºa½ muñcitv± “s±galanagarav±sino ima½ sadda½ suºant³”ti v²ºa½ v±dento g±yi. Bodhisatto “na sakk± idha vasam±nena pabh±vat² daµµhu½, aµµh±nametan”ti p±tova nikkhamitv± s±ya½ bhuttageheyeva p±tar±sa½ bhuñjitv± v²ºa½ µhapetv± r±jakumbhak±rassa santika½ gantv± tassa antev±sikabh±va½ upagantv± ekadivaseneva ghara½ mattik±ya p³retv± “bh±jan±ni karomi ±cariy±”ti vatv±, “±ma, k±roh²”ti vutte eka½ mattik±piº¹a½ cakke µhapetv± cakka½ ±viñchi, saki½ ±viddhameva y±va majjhanhik±tikkam± bhamiyeva. So n±n±vaºº±ni khuddakamahant±ni bh±jan±ni katv± pabh±vatiy± atth±ya bh±jana½ karonto n±n±r³p±ni samuµµh±pesi. Bodhisatt±nañhi adhipp±yo n±ma samijjhati, “t±ni r³p±ni pabh±vat²yeva passat³”ti adhiµµh±si. So sabbabh±jan±ni sukkh±petv± pacitv± geha½ p³resi. Kumbhak±ro n±n±bh±jan±ni gahetv± r±jakula½ agam±si. R±j± disv± “kenim±ni kat±n²”ti pucchi. “May±, dev±”ti. “Aha½ tay± kat±ni j±n±mi, kathehi, kena kat±n²”ti? “Antev±sikena me dev±”ti. “Na te so antev±s², ±cariyo te so, tva½ tassa santike sippa½ sikkha, ito paµµh±ya ca so mama dh²t±na½ bh±jan±ni karotu, imañcassa sahassa½ deh²”ti sahassa½ d±petv± “n±n±vaºº±ni im±ni khuddakabh±jan±ni mama dh²t±na½ deh²”ti ±ha.

Athass± bhaginiyo kuddhabh±va½ ñatv± “khuddakabh±jana½ kusaraññ± katanti maññasi, ida½ tena na kata½, kumbhak±reneva kata½, gaºh±hi nan”ti avahasi½su. S± tena katabh±va½ tassa ca ±gatabh±va½ t±sa½ na kathesi. So “idh±pi vasantena na sakk± pabh±vat² daµµhun”ti ta½ sahassa½ tasseva datv± r±jupaµµh±kassa na¼ak±rassa santika½ gantv± tassa antev±siko hutv± pabh±vatiy± atth±ya t±lavaºµa½ katv± tattheva setacchattañca ±p±nabh³miñca vattha½ gahetv± µhita½ pabh±vatiñc±ti n±n±r³p±ni dassesi. So “idampi mayha½ avasanaµµh±nan”ti sahassa½ tasseva datv± r±jam±l±k±rassa santika½ gantv± antev±sikabh±va½ upagantv± n±n±vidha½ m±l±vikati½ ganthitv± pabh±vatiy± atth±ya n±n±r³pavicitra½ eka½ cumbaµaka½ ak±si. M±l±k±ro ta½ sabba½ ±d±ya r±jakula½ agam±si. So “idampi mayha½ avasanaµµh±nan”ti sahassa½ tasseva datv± rañño s³dassa santika½ gantv± antev±sikabh±va½ upagacchi. Athekadivasa½ s³do rañño bhojanavikati½ haranto attano atth±ya pacitu½ bodhisattassa aµµhima½sa½ ad±si. So ta½ tath± samp±desi, yath±ssa gandho sakalanagara½ avatthari. R±j± ta½ gh±yitv± “ki½ te mah±nase aññampi ma½sa½ pacas²”ti pucchi. “Natthi, deva, apica kho pana me antev±sikassa aµµhima½sa½ pacanatth±ya dinna½, tasseva so gandho bhavissat²”ti. S± tassa nitthunitasaddena dv±ra½ vivaritv± ta½ bhattak±jena otthata½ disv± cintesi– “aya½ sakalajambud²pe aggar±j± ma½ niss±ya rattindiva½ dukkha½ anubhoti, sukhum±lat±ya bhattak±jena avatthato patati, j²vati nu kho, no v±”ti. S± gabbhato nikkhamitv± tassa n±sav±ta½ upadh±retu½ g²va½ pas±retv± mukha½ olokesi. So mukhap³ra½ khe¼a½ gahetv± tass± sar²re p±tesi.
