Tassapi t±ni paññ±yi½su. Atha na½ bhikkh³ satthu santika½ netv± “aya½, bhante, ukkaºµhito”ti dassesu½. Satth± “sacca½ kira tva½, bhikkhu, ukkaºµhitos²”ti ta½ pucchitv± “sacca½, bhante”ti vutte “m±, bhikkhu, kilesavasiko hohi, m±tug±mo n±mesa p±po, tasmi½ paµibaddhacittata½ vinodehi, s±sane abhirama, m±tug±me paµibaddhacittat±ya hi tejavantopi por±ºakapaº¹it± nittej± hutv± anayabyasana½ p±puºi½s³”ti vatv± at²ta½ ±hari.

Mah±janopi nh±to alaªkato “aha½ devi½ gaºhiss±mi, aha½ devi½ gaºhiss±m²”ti r±jadv±re sannipatitv± sakkañca disv± “tva½ kasm± ±gatos²”ti parih±samak±si. So “±ma, bhadde, pubbe pan±ha½ eko, id±nimh± maya½ dve jan±, aha½ bhikkh±ya caritv± taº¹ul±d²ni ±hariss±mi, tva½ imiss± kaµµhattharik±ya nipajj±h²”ti vatv± ta½ mudun± hatthena par±masanto dibbasamphassa½ phar±petv± tattha nipajj±pesi. S± dibbasamphassapharaºena sañña½ vissajjesi. Atha na½ attano ±nubh±vena t±vati½sabhavana½ netv± alaªkatavim±ne dibbasayane nipajj±pesi. S± sattame divase pabujjhitv± ta½ sampatti½ disv± “na so br±hmaºo manusso, sakko bhavissat²”ti aññ±si. Sakkopi tasmi½ samaye p±ricchattakam³le dibban±µakaparivuto nisinno ahosi. S± sayan± uµµh±ya tassa santika½ gantv± vanditv± ekamanta½ aµµh±si. Atha na½ sakko “vara½ te, devi, dad±mi, gaºh±h²”ti ±ha. “Tena hi, deva, eka½ putta½ me deh²”ti. “Devi, tiµµhatu eko putto, aha½ te dve putte dass±mi. Tesu pana eko paññav± bhavissati vir³pav±, eko r³pav± na paññav±. Tesu katara½ paµhama½ icchas²”ti? “Paññavanta½, dev±”ti. So “s±dh³”ti vatv± tass± kusatiºa½ dibbavattha½ dibbacandana½ p±ricchattakapuppha½ kokanudañca n±ma v²ºa½ datv± ta½ ±d±ya rañño sayanaghara½ pavisitv± raññ± saddhi½ ekasayane nipajj±petv± aªguµµhakena tass± n±bhi½ par±masi. Tasmi½ khaºe bodhisatto tass± kucchimhi paµisandhi½ gaºhi. Sakkopi sakaµµh±nameva gato. Paº¹it± dev² gabbhassa patiµµhitabh±va½ j±ni.
Atha na½ pabuddho r±j± disv±, “devi, kena n²t±s²”ti pucchi. “Sakkena, dev±”ti. “Aha½ paccakkhato eka½ mahallakabr±hmaºa½ ta½ ±d±ya gacchanta½ addasa½, kasm± ma½ vañces²”ti? “Saddahatha, deva, sakko ma½ gahetv± devaloka½ nes²”ti. “Na saddah±mi, dev²”ti. Athassa s± sakkadattiya½ kusatiºa½ dassetv± “saddahath±”ti ±ha. R±j± “kusatiºa½ n±ma yato kutoci labbhat²”ti na saddahi. Athassa s± dibbavatth±d²ni dassesi. R±j± t±ni disv± saddahitv±, “bhadde, sakko t±va ta½ netu, putto pana te laddho”ti pucchi. “Laddho mah±r±ja, gabbho me patiµµhito”ti. So tuµµho tass± gabbhaparih±ra½ ad±si S± dasam±saccayena putta½ vij±yi, tassa añña½ n±ma½ akatv± kusatiºan±mameva aka½su. Kusakum±rassa padas± gamanak±le itaro devaputto tass± kucchiya½ paµisandhi½ gaºhi. S± dasam±se paripuººe putta½ vij±yi, tassa “jayampat²”ti n±ma½ kari½su. Te mahantena yasena va¹¹hi½su. Bodhisatto paññav± ±cariyassa santike kiñci sippa½ anuggahetv± attanova paññ±ya sabbasippesu nipphatti½ p±puºi.
Athassa so¼asavassak±le r±j± rajja½ d±tuk±mo devi½ ±mantetv± “bhadde, puttassa te rajja½ datv± n±µak±ni upaµµhapess±ma, maya½ j²vant±yeva na½ rajje patiµµhita½ passiss±ma, sakalajambud²pe kho pana yassa rañño dh²tara½ icchati, tamassa ±netv± aggamahesi½ kariss±ma, cittamassa j±n±hi, katara½ r±jadh²tara½ roces²”ti ±ha. S± “s±dh³”ti sampaµicchitv± “kum±rassa ima½ pavatti½ ±rocetv± citta½ j±n±h²”ti eka½ paric±rika½ pesesi. S± gantv± tassa ta½ pavatti½ ±rocesi. Ta½ sutv± mah±satto cintesi– “aha½ na r³pav±, r³pasampann± r±jadh²t± ±n²t±pi ma½ disv± ‘ki½ me imin± vir³pen±’ti pal±yissati iti no lajjitabbaka½ bhavissati, ki½ me ghar±v±sena, dharam±ne m±t±pitaro upaµµhahitv± tesa½ accayena nikkhamitv± pabbajiss±m²”ti. So “mayha½ neva rajjenattho, na n±µakehi, aha½ m±t±pit³na½ accayena pabbajiss±m²”ti ±ha. S± gantv± tassa katha½ deviy± ±rocesi, dev²pi rañño ±rocesi. R±j± anattamano hutv± puna katip±haccayena s±sana½ pesesi. Sopi paµib±hatiyeva. Eva½ y±vatatiya½ paµib±hitv± catutthav±re cintesi– “m±t±pit³hi saddhi½ ekantena paµipakkhabh±vo n±ma na yutto, eka½ up±ya½ kariss±m²”ti.
So kamm±rajeµµhaka½ pakkos±petv± bahu½ suvaººa½ datv± “eka½ itthir³paka½ karoh²”ti uyyojetv± tasmi½ pakkante añña½ suvaººa½ gahetv± sayampi itthir³paka½ ak±si. Bodhisatt±nañhi adhipp±yo n±ma samijjhati. Ta½ suvaººar³paka½ jivh±ya avaººan²yasobha½ ahosi. Atha na½ mah±satto khoma½ niv±s±petv± sirigabbhe µhap±pesi. So kamm±rajeµµhakena ±bhatar³paka½ disv± ta½ garahitv± “gaccha amh±ka½ sirigabbhe µhapitar³paka½ ±har±”ti ±ha. So sirigabbha½ paviµµho ta½ disv± “kum±rena saddhi½ abhiramitu½ ek± devacchar±, ±gat± bhavissat²”ti hattha½ pas±retu½ avisahanto nikkhamitv± “deva, sirigabbhe ayy± ekik±va µhit±, upagantu½ na sakkom²”ti ±ha. “T±ta, gaccha, suvaººar³paka½ eta½, ±har±”ti puna pesito ±hari.
