“Seyyath±pi, bhikkhave, catt±ro da¼hadhamm± dhanuggah± susikkhit± katahatth± kat³p±san± catuddis± µhit± assu, atha puriso ±gaccheyya ‘aha½ imesa½ catunna½ da¼hadhamm±na½ dhanuggah±na½ susikkhit±na½ katahatth±na½ kat³p±san±na½ catuddis± kaº¹e khitte apatiµµhite pathaviya½ gahetv± ±hariss±m²’ti. “Ta½ ki½ maññatha, bhikkhave, ‘javano puriso paramena javena samann±gato’ti ala½ vacan±y±”ti? “Eva½ bhante”ti. Te dutiyampi tatiyampi y±ci½su, bodhisattopi te y±vatatiya½ v±resiyeva. Te m±nathaddh± attano bala½ aj±nant± mah±sattassa an±cikkhitv±va “s³riyena saddhi½ javiss±m±”ti s³riye anuggateyeva gantv± yugandharamatthake nis²di½su. Mah±satto te adisv± “kaha½ nu kho gat±”ti pucchitv± ta½ pavatti½ sutv± cintesi “te s³riyena saddhi½ javitu½ na sakkhissanti, antar±va vinassissanti, j²vita½ tesa½ dass±m²”ti. Sopi gantv± yugandharamatthakeyeva nis²di. Atha uggate s³riyamaº¹ale ha½sapotak± uppatitv± s³riyena saddhi½ pakkhandi½su, mah±sattopi tehi saddhi½ pakkhandi. Kaniµµhabh±tiko y±va pubbaºhasamay± javitv± kilami, pakkhasandh²su aggi-uµµh±nak±lo viya ahosi. So bodhisattassa sañña½ ad±si “bh±tika, na sakkom²”ti. Atha na½ mah±satto “m± bh±yi, j²vita½ te dass±m²”ti pakkhapañjarena parikkhipitv± ass±setv± cittak³µapabbata½ netv± ha½s±na½ majjhe µhapetv± puna pakkhanditv± s³riya½ patv± itarena saddhi½ p±y±si. Sopi y±va upakaµµhamajjhanhik± s³riyena saddhi½ javitv± kilami, pakkhasandh²su aggi-uµµh±nak±lo viya ahosi. Tad± bodhisattassa sañña½ ad±si “bh±tika, na sakkom²”ti. Atha mah±satto “mama ajja sar²rabala½ v²ma½siss±m²”ti cintetv± ekavegena pakkhanditv± yugandharamatthake nis²ditv± tato uppatitv± ekavegena s³riya½ p±puºitv± k±lena purato, k±lena pacchato javitv± cintesi “mayha½ s³riyena saddhi½ javana½ n±ma niratthaka½ ayonisomanasik±rasambh³ta½, ki½ me imin±, b±r±ºasi½ gantv± mama sah±yakassa rañño atthayutta½ dhammayutta½ katha½ kathess±m²”ti. Mah±satto kañcanap²µhe nis²di. R±j± satap±kasahassap±kehi telehi tassa pakkhantar±ni makkhetv± kañcanataµµake madhul±je ca madhurodakañca sakkharodakañca d±petv± madhurapaµisanth±ra½ katv± “samma, tva½ ekakova ±gatosi, kuhi½ agamitth±”ti pucchi. Yo pubbeti yo puggalo paµhamameva attamano hutv± “tva½ mayha½ ñ±tako mitto p±ºasamo sakh±”ti api eva½ maññati, sveva pacch± diso ver² sampajjati, eva½ dubbij±na½ n±ma manussahadayanti. Nivisat²ti mah±r±ja, yasmi½ puggale pemavasena mano nivisati, so d³re vasantopi avid³re sah±pi vasatiyeva n±ma. Yasmi½ pana puggale mano na nivisati apeti, so santike vasantopi d³reyeva.
Antopi so hot²ti mah±r±ja, yo sah±yo pasannacitto, so cittena all²natt± p±ra½ samuddassa vasantopi antoyeva hoti. Yo pana paduµµhacitto, so cittena anall²natt± anto vasantopi p±ra½ samuddassa n±ma. Ye dis± teti ye verino paccatthik±, te ekato vasant±pi d³re vasantiyeva n±ma. Santo pana paº¹it± ±r± µhit±pi mett±bh±vitena manas± ±vajjent± sa½vasantiyeva. Pur± te hom±ti y±va tava appiy± na homa, t±vadeva ta½ ±mantetv± gacch±m±ti vadati.
