16. “Neva s±lo na khadiro, n±ssakaººo kuto dhavo;
rukkho ca phandano n±ma, ta½ d±ru½ nemiy± da¼han”ti.
So ta½ sutv± somanassaj±to “sudivasena vatamhi ajja arañña½ paviµµho, tiracch±nagato me rath±nucchavika½ d±ru½ ±cikkhati, aho s±dh³”ti pucchanto catuttha½ g±tham±ha–
17. “K²dis±nissa patt±ni, khandho v± pana k²diso;
puµµho me samma akkh±hi, yath± j±nemu phandanan”ti.

18. “Yassa s±kh± palambanti, namanti na ca bhañjare;
so rukkho phandano n±ma, yassa m³le aha½ µhito.
19. “Ar±na½ cakkan±bh²na½, ²s±nemirathassa ca;
sabbassa te kammaniyo, aya½ hessati phandano”ti.
Tattha “ar±nan”ti ida½ so “kad±cesa ima½ rukkha½ na gaºheyya, guºampissa kathess±m²”ti cintetv± evam±ha. Tattha ²s±nemirathassa c±ti ²s±ya ca nemiy± ca sesassa ca rathassa sabbassa te esa kammaniyo kammakkhamo bhavissat²ti.
So eva½ ±cikkhitv± tuµµham±naso ekamante vicari, va¹¹hak²pi rukkha½ chinditu½ ±rabhi. Rukkhadevat± cintesi “may± etassa upari na kiñci p±tita½, aya½ aµµh±ne ±gh±ta½ bandhitv± mama vim±na½ n±seti, ahañca vinassiss±mi, ekenup±yena imañca issa½ vin±sess±m²”ti. Va¹¹hak² rukkhadevat±ya vacana½ sutv± “aho ajja mayha½ maªgaladivaso”ti k±¼as²ha½ gh±tetv± rukkha½ chetv± pakk±mi. Tamattha½ pak±sento satth± ±ha–
23. “Icceva½ phandano issa½, isso ca pana phandana½;
aññamañña½ viv±dena, aññamaññamagh±tayu½.
24. “Evameva manuss±na½, viv±do yattha j±yati;
may³ranacca½ naccanti, yath± te issaphandan±.
25. “Ta½ vo vad±mi bhadda½ vo, y±vantettha sam±gat±;
sammodatha m± vivadatha, m± hotha issaphandan±.
26. “S±maggimeva sikkhetha, buddheheta½ pasa½sita½;
s±maggirato dhammaµµho, yogakkhem± na dha½sat²”ti.
Tattha agh±tayunti gh±t±pesu½. May³ranacca½ naccant²ti mah±r±j± yattha hi manuss±na½ viv±do hoti, tattha yath± n±ma may³r± naccant± paµicch±detabba½ rahassaªga½ p±kaµa½ karonti, eva½ manuss± aññamaññassa randha½ pak±sent± may³ranacca½ naccanti n±ma. Yath± te issaphandan± aññamaññassa randha½ pak±sent± nacci½su n±ma. Ta½ voti tena k±raºena tumhe vad±mi. Bhadda½ voti bhadda½ tumh±ka½ hotu. Y±vantetth±ti y±vanto ettha issaphandanasadis± m± ahuvattha. S±maggimeva sikkheth±ti samaggabh±vameva tumhe sikkhatha, ida½ paññ±vuddhehi paº¹itehi pasa½sita½ Dhammaµµhoti sucaritadhamme µhito. Yogakkhem± na dha½sat²ti yogehi khem± nibb±n± na parih±yat²ti nibb±nena desan±k³µa½ gaºhi. Sakyar±j±no dhammakatha½ sutv± samagg± j±t±.
