Ayampi purimabuddhesu kat±dhik±ro tattha tattha bhave vivaµµ³panissay±ni puññ±ni upacinanto padumuttarassa bhagavato k±le vibhavasampanne kuµumbikakule nibbatti. Vayappatto ekadivasa½ vih±ra½ gantv± satthu santike dhamma½ suºanto satth±r± eka½ bhikkhu½ dibbacakkhuk±na½ aggaµµh±ne µhapenta½ disv± sayampi ta½ d±na½ patthetv± satasahassabhikkhupariv±rassa bhagavato satt±ha½ mah±d±na½ pavattetv± sattame divase bhagavato bhikkhusaªghassa ca uttam±ni vatth±ni datv± paºidh±na½ ak±si. Satth±pissa anantar±yena samijjhanabh±va½ disv± “an±gate gotamassa samm±sambuddhassa s±sane dibbacakkhuk±na½ aggo bhavissat²”ti by±k±si. Sopi tattha puññ±ni karonto satthari parinibbute sattayojanike kanakath³pe bahuka½sap±tiyo d²parukkhehi d²pakapallik±hi ca “dibbacakkhuñ±ºassa upanissayo hot³”ti u¼±ra½ d²pap³ja½ ak±si. Eva½ y±vaj²va½ puññ±ni katv± devamanussesu sa½saranto kassapassa bhagavato k±le b±r±ºasiya½ kuµumbikagehe nibbattitv± viññuta½ patto satthari parinibbute niµµhite yojanike kanakath³pe bahuka½sap±tiyo sappimaº¹assa p³retv± majjhe ca ekeka½ gu¼apiº¹a½ µhapetv± mukhavaµµiy± mukhavaµµi½ phus±pento cetiya½ parikkhip±pesi. Attan± gahitaka½sap±ti½ sappimaº¹assa p³retv± sahassavaµµiyo j±l±petv± s²se µhapetv± sabbaratti½ cetiya½ anupariy±yi. Eva½ tasmimpi attabh±ve y±vaj²va½ kusala½ katv± devaloke nibbattitv± tattha y±vat±yuka½ µhatv± tato cuto anuppanne buddhe b±r±ºasiya½yeva duggatakule nibbatti, “annabh±ro”tissa n±ma½ ahosi. So sumanaseµµhissa n±ma gehe kamma½ karonto j²vati. Ekadivasa½ so upariµµha½ n±ma paccekabuddha½ nirodhasam±pattito vuµµh±ya gandham±danapabbatato ±k±sen±gantv± b±r±ºas²nagaradv±re otaritv± c²vara½ p±rupitv± nagare piº¹±ya caranta½ disv± pasannam±naso patta½ gahetv± attano atth±ya µhapita½ bh±gabhatta½ patte pakkhipitv± paccekabuddhassa d±tuk±mo ±rabhi. Bhariy±pissa attano bh±gabhattañca tattheva pakkhipi. So ta½ netv± paccekabuddhassa hatthe µhapesi. Paccekabuddho ta½ gahetv± anumodana½ katv± pakk±mi. Ta½ divasa½ sumanaseµµhissa chatte adhivatth± devat±– “aho d±na½, paramad±na½, upariµµhe suppatiµµhitan”ti mah±saddena anumodi. Ta½ sutv± sumanaseµµhi– “eva½ devat±ya anumodita½ idameva uttamad±nan”ti cintetv± tattha patti½ y±ci. Annabh±ro pana tassa patti½ ad±si. Tena pasannacitto sumanaseµµhi tassa sahassa½ datv± “ito paµµh±ya tuyha½ sahatthena kammakaraºakicca½ natthi, patir³pa½ geha½ katv± nicca½ vas±h²”ti ±ha. Yasm± nirodhasam±pattito vuµµhitassa paccekabuddhassa dinnapiº¹ap±to ta½ divasameva u¼±ravip±ko hoti, tasm± sumanaseµµhi rañño santika½ gacchanto ta½ gahetv± agam±si. R±j± pana ta½ ±daravasena olokesi. Seµµhi– “mah±r±ja, aya½ oloketabbayuttoyev±”ti vatv± tad± tena katakamma½ attan±pissa sahassadinnabh±vañca kathesi. Ta½ sutv± r±j± tassa tussitv± sahassa½ datv± “asukasmi½ µh±ne geha½ katv± vas±h²”ti gehaµµh±namassa ±º±pesi. Tassa ta½ µh±na½ sodh±pentassa mahant± mahant± nidhikumbhiyo uµµhahi½su. So t± disv± rañño ±rocesi. R±j± sabba½ dhana½ uddhar±petv± r±sikata½ disv±– “ettaka½ dhana½ imasmi½ nagare kassa gehe atth²”ti pucchi. “Na kassaci, dev±”ti. “Tena hi aya½ annabh±ro imasmi½ nagare mah±dhanaseµµhi n±ma hot³”ti ta½ divasameva tassa seµµhichatta½ uss±pesi. Tassa j±tassa anuruddhoti n±ma½ aka½su. So mah±n±masakkassa kaniµµhabh±t± bhagavato c³¼apitu putto paramasukhum±lo mah±puñño ahosi. Suvaººap±tiya½yeva cassa bhatta½ uppajji. Athassa m±t± ekadivasa½ “mama putto natth²ti pada½ na j±n±ti, ta½ j±n±pess±m²”ti cintetv± eka½ suvaººap±ti½ tucchaka½yeva aññ±ya suvaººap±tiy± pidahitv± tassa pesesi, antar±magge devat± ta½, dibbap³vehi p³resu½. Eva½ mah±puñño tiººa½ ut³na½ anucchavikesu t²su p±s±desu alaªkatan±µakitth²hi parivuto devo viya mah±sampatti½ anubhavi. Amh±kampi bodhisatto tasmi½ samaye tusitapur± cavitv± suddhodanamah±r±jassa aggamahesiy± kucchimhi nibbattitv± anukkamena vuddhippatto ek³nati½sa vass±ni ag±ramajjhe vasitv± mah±bhinikkhamana½ nikkhamitv± anukkamena paµividdhasabbaññutaññ±ºo bodhimaº¹e sattasatt±ha½ v²tin±metv± isipatane migad±ye dhammacakka½ pavattetv± lok±nuggaha½ karonto r±jagaha½ gantv± ve¼uvane vih±si. Bhagav± tattha kattabba½ ñ±tisaªgaha½ katv± r±hulakum±ra½ pabb±jetv± nacirasseva kapilavatthunagarato mallaraµµhe c±rika½ caram±no anupiyambavana½ p±puºi. Tasmi½ samaye suddhodanamah±r±j± s±kiyagaºa½ sannip±tetv± ±ha– “sace mama putto ag±ra½ ajjh±vasissa, r±j± abhavissa cakkavatt² sattaratanasampanno khattiyagaºapariv±ro, natt±pi me r±hulakum±ro khattiyagaºena saddhi½ ta½ pariv±retv± acarissa, tumhepi etamattha½ j±n±tha. Id±ni pana mama putto buddho j±to, khattiy±v±ssa pariv±r± hontu, tumhe ekekakulato ekeka½ d±raka½ deth±”ti. Eva½ vutte ekappah±reneva dve-as²tisahassakhattiyakum±r± pabbaji½su. Tasmi½ samaye mah±n±mo sakko kuµumbas±miko, so attano kaniµµha½ anuruddha½ sakka½ upasaªkamitv± etadavoca– “etarahi, t±ta anuruddha, abhiññ±t± abhiññ±t± sakyakum±r± bhagavanta½ pabbajita½ anupabbajanti, amh±kañca kul± natthi koci ag±rasm± anag±riya½ pabbajito, tena hi tva½ v± pabbaj±hi, aha½ v± pabbajiss±m²”ti. Ta½ sutv± anuruddho ghar±v±se ruci½ akatv± attasattamo ag±rasm± anag±riya½ pabbajito. Tassa pabbajj±nukkamo saªghabhedakakkhandhake (c³¼ava. 330 ±dayo) ±gatoyeva. Eva½ anupiya½ gantv± pabbajitesu pana tesu tasmi½yeva antovasse bhaddiyatthero arahatta½ p±puºi, anuruddhatthero dibbacakkhu½ nibbattesi, devadatto aµµha sam±pattiyo nibbattesi, ±nandatthero sot±pattiphale patiµµh±si, bhagutthero ca kimilatthero ca pacch± arahatta½ p±puºi½su. Tesa½ sabbesampi ther±na½ attano attano ±gataµµh±nesu pubbapatthan±bhin²h±ro ±vi bhavissati. Aya½ anuruddhatthero dhammasen±patissa santike kammaµµh±na½ gahetv± cetiyaraµµhe p±c²nava½sad±ya½ gantv± samaºadhamma½ karonto satta mah±purisavitakke vitakkesi, aµµhame kilamati. Satth± “anuruddho aµµhame mah±purisavitakke kilamat²”ti ñatv± “tassa saªkappa½ p³ress±m²”ti tattha gantv± paññattavarabuddh±sane nisinno aµµhama½ mah±purisavitakka½ p³retv± catupaccayasantosabh±van±r±mapaµimaº¹ita½ mah±-ariyava½sapaµipada½ kathetv± ±k±se uppatitv± bhesakal±vanameva gato. Thero tath±gate gatamatteyeva tevijjo mah±kh²º±savo hutv± “satth± mayha½ mana½ j±nitv± ±gantv± aµµhama½ mah±purisavitakka½ p³retv± ad±si, so ca me manoratho matthaka½ patto”ti buddh±na½ dhammadesana½ attano ca paµivedhadhamma½ ±rabbha im± ud±nag±th± abh±si–
“Mama saªkappamaññ±ya, satth± loke anuttaro;
manomayena k±yena, iddhiy± upasaªkami.
“Yad± me ahu saªkappo, tato uttari desayi;
nippapañcarato buddho, nippapañcamadesayi.
“Tass±ha½ dhammamaññ±ya, vih±si½ s±sane rato;
tisso vijj± anuppatt±, kata½ buddhassa s±sanan”ti. (Therag±. 901-903).
Atha na½ aparabh±ge satth± jetavane mah±vih±re viharanto “dibbacakkhuk±na½ bhikkh³na½ anuruddho aggo”ti (a. ni. 1.192) aggaµµh±ne µhapesi. 421. Eva½ so bhagavato santik± dibbacakkhuk±na½ aggaµµh±na½ labhitv± attano pubbakamma½ saritv± somanassavasena pubbacarit±pad±na½ pak±sento sumedha½ bhagavant±hanti-±dim±ha. Tattha sundar± upaµµh±panapaññ± maggaphalapaññ± vipassan±paññ± catupaµisambhid±disaªkh±t± medh± yassa bhagavato so sumedho, ta½ sumedha½ bh±gyasampannatt± bhagavanta½ lokassa jeµµha½ seµµha½ padh±nabh³ta½ sa½s±rato paµhama½ niggata½ nar±na½ ±sabha½ purec±rika½ v³pakaµµha½ vivekabh³ta½ gaºasaªgaºik±r±mato apagata½ viharanta½ aha½ addasanti sambandho. 422. Sabbadhamm±na½ sayameva buddhatt± sambuddha½, upagantv±na sam²pa½ gantv±ti attho. Añjali½ paggahetv±n±ti dasaªgulipuµa½ muddhani katv±ti attho. Sesa½ utt±natthameva. 430. Div± rattiñca pass±m²ti tad± devaloke ca manussaloke ca uppannak±le ma½sacakkhun± samantato yojana½ pass±m²ti attho. 431. Sahassaloka½ ñ±ºen±ti paññ±cakkhun± sahassacakkav±¼a½ pass±m²ti attho. Satthu s±saneti id±ni gotamassa bhagavato s±sane. D²pad±nassa d²pap³j±ya ida½ phala½, imin± phalena dibbacakkhu½ anuppatto paµiladdho upp±desinti attho.
