Thero hi pabbajitadivasato paµµh±ya sattame divase magadharaµµhe kallav±lag±maka½ upaniss±ya samaºadhamma½ karonto thinamiddhe okkamante satth±r± “moggall±na, m± tuccho tava v±y±mo”ti-±din± sa½vejito thinamiddha½ vinodetv± bhagavat± vuccam±na½ dh±tukammaµµh±na½ suºanto eva vipassan±paµip±µiy± uparimaggattaya½ adhigantv± aggaphalakkhaºe s±vakañ±ºassa matthaka½ p±puºi. 375. Eva½ dutiyas±vakabh±va½ patv± ±yasm± mah±moggall±natthero attano pubbakamma½ saritv± somanassavasena pubbacariya½ apad±na½ pak±sento anomadass² bhagav±ti-±dim±ha. Tattha na oma½ al±maka½ dassana½ passana½ ass±ti anomadass². Tassa hi dvatti½samah±purisalakkhaºapaµimaº¹itasar²ratt± sakala½ divasa½ sakala½ m±sa½ sakala½ sa½vacchara½ sa½vaccharasatasahassampi passant±na½ devamanuss±na½ atittikara½ dassananti, anoma½ al±maka½ nibb±na½ dassanas²loti v± “anomadass²”ti laddhan±mo bh±gyavantat±d²hi k±raºehi bhagav±. Lokajeµµhoti sakalasattalokassa jeµµho padh±no. ¾sabhasadisatt± ±sabho, nar±na½ ±sabho nar±sabho. So lokajeµµho nar±sabho anomadass² bhagav± devasaªghapurakkhato devasam³hehi pariv±rito. Himavantamhi vih±s²ti sambandho. 376. Yad± dutiyas±vakabh±v±ya dutiyav±re patthana½ ak±si, tad± n±mena varuºo n±ma aha½ n±gar±j± hutv± nibbatto ahosinti attho. Tena vutta½– “varuºo n±ma n±mena, n±gar±j± aha½ tad±”ti. K±mar³p²ti yadicchitak±manimm±nas²lo. Vikubb±m²ti vividha½ iddhivikubbana½ karomi. Mahodadhiniv±sahanti mañjerik± n±g±, bh³migat± n±g±, pabbataµµh± n±g±, gaªg±vaheyy± n±g±, s±muddik± n±g±ti imesa½ n±g±na½ antare s±muddikan±go aha½ mahodadhimhi samudde niv±si½, v±sa½ kappesinti attho. 377. Saªgaºiya½ gaºa½ hitv±ti niccapariv±rabh³ta½ sakapariv±ra½ n±gasam³ha½ hitv± vin± hutv± T³riya½ paµµhapesahanti aha½ t³riya½ paµµhapesi½, vajj±pesinti attho. Sambuddha½ pariv±retv±ti anomadassisambuddha½ samantato sevam±n± acchar± n±gam±ºavik± v±desu½ dibbav±dehi g²t± v±ky±d²hi v±desu½ laddh±nur³pato vajjesu½ tad±ti attho. 378. Vajjam±nesu t³res³ti manussan±gat³riyesu pañcaªgikesu vajjam±nesu Dev± t³r±ni vajjayunti c±tumah±r±jik± dev± dibbat³riy±ni vajji½su v±desunti attho. Ubhinna½ sadda½ sutv±n±ti ubhinna½ devamanuss±na½ bherisadda½ sutv±. Tilokagarusam±nopi buddho sampabujjhatha j±n±ti suº±t²ti attho. 379. Nimantetv±na sambuddhanti sas±vakasaªgha½ sambuddha½ sv±tan±ya nimantetv± pariv±retv±. Sakabhavananti attano n±gabhavana½ up±gami½. Gantv± ca ±sana½ paññapetv±n±ti rattiµµh±nadiv±µµh±nakuµimaº¹apasayananis²danaµµh±n±ni paññ±petv± sajjetv±ti attho. K±lam±rocayi½ ahanti eva½ katapubbavidh±no aha½ “k±lo, bhante, niµµhita½ bhattan”ti k±la½ ±rocayi½ viññ±pesi½. 380. Kh²º±savasahasseh²ti tad± so bhagav± arahantasahassehi parivuto lokan±yako sabb± dis± obh±sento me bhavana½ up±gami sampattoti attho. 381. Attano bhavana½ paviµµha½ bhagavanta½ bhojan±k±ra½ dassento upaviµµha½ mah±v²ranti-±dim±ha. Ta½ suviññeyyameva. 386. Okk±kakulasambhavoti okk±karañño parampar±gatar±jakule uppanno sakalajambud²pe p±kaµar±jakule uppanno v± gottena gottavasena gotamo n±ma satth± manussaloke bhavissati. 388. So pacch± pabbajitv±n±ti so n±gar±j± pacch± pacchimabhave kusalam³lena puññasambh±rena codito uyyojito s±sane pabbajitv± gotamassa bhagavato dutiyo aggas±vako hessat²ti by±karaºamak±si. 389. ¾raddhav²riyoti µh±nanisajj±d²su iriy±pathesu v²riyav±. Pahitattoti nibb±ne pesitacitto Iddhiy± p±rami½ gatoti “etadagga½, bhikkhave, mama s±vak±na½ bhikkh³na½ iddhimant±na½ yadida½ mah±moggall±no”ti (a. ni. 1.180, 190) adhiµµh±niddhivikubbaniddhikammavip±kajiddhi-±d²su p±rami½ pariyos±na½ gato patto. Sabb±saveti ± samantato savanato pavattanato “±sav±”ti laddhan±me k±mabhavadiµµhi-avijj±dhamme sabbe pariññ±ya samantato aññ±ya j±nitv± pajahitv± an±savo nikkileso. Nibb±yissat²ti kilesakhandhaparinibb±nena nibb±yissat²ti sambandho. 390. Eva½ thero attano puññavasena laddhaby±karaºa½ vatv± puna p±pacariya½ pak±sento p±pamittopaniss±y±ti-±dim±ha. Tattha p±pamitte p±pake l±make mitte upaniss±ya nissaye katv± tehi sa½saggo hutv±ti attho. Tatr±yamanupubb² kath±– ekasmi½ samaye titthiy± sannipatitv± mantesu½– “j±n±th±vuso, kena k±raºena samaºassa gotamassa l±bhasakk±ro mah± hutv± nibbatto”ti? “Na j±n±ma”. “Tumhe pana na j±n±th±”ti? “¾ma, j±n±ma”– moggall±na½ n±ma eka½ bhikkhu½ niss±ya uppanno So hi devaloka½ gantv± devat±hi katakamma½ pucchitv± ±gantv± manuss±na½ kathesi– “ida½ n±ma katv± evar³pa½ sampatti½ labhant²”ti. Niraye nibbatt±nampi kamma½ pucchitv± ±gantv± manuss±na½ kathesi– “ida½ n±ma katv± evar³pa½ dukkha½ anubhavant²”ti. Manuss± tassa katha½ sutv± mahanta½ l±bhasakk±ra½ abhiharanti. Sace ta½ m±retu½ sakkhiss±ma, so l±bhasakk±ro amh±ka½ nibbattissati, attheso up±yoti sabbe ekacchand± hutv± “ya½kiñci katv± ta½ m±ress±m±”ti attano upaµµh±ke sam±dapetv± kah±paºasahassa½ labhitv± purisagh±take core pakkos±petv± “mah±moggall±natthero n±ma samaºassa gotamassa s±vako k±¼asil±ya½ vasati, tumhe tattha gantv± ta½ m±reth±”ti tesa½ ta½ sahassa½ ada½su. Cor± dhanal±bhena sampaµicchitv± “thera½ m±ress±m±”ti gantv± tassa vasanaµµh±na½ pariv±resu½. Thero tehi parikkhittabh±va½ ñatv± kuñcikacchiddena nikkhamitv± pakk±mi. Cor± ta½ divasa½ thera½ adisv± punekadivasa½ tassa vasanaµµh±na½ parikkhipi½su. Thero ñatv± kaººik±maº¹ala½ bhinditv± ±k±sa½ pakkhandi. Eva½ te paµhamam±sepi, majjhimam±sepi thera½ gahetu½ n±sakkhi½su. Pacchimam±se pana sampatte thero attan± katakammassa ±ka¹¹hanabh±va½ ñatv± na apagacchi. Cor± ta½ paharant± taº¹ulakamatt±ni aµµh²ni karont± bhindi½su. Atha na½ “mato”ti saññ±ya ekasmi½ gumbapiµµhe khipitv± pakkami½su. Thero “satth±ra½ passitv± vanditv±va parinibb±yiss±m²”ti attabh±va½ jh±naveµhanena veµhetv± ±k±sena satthu santika½ gantv± satth±ra½ vanditv± “bhante, parinibb±yiss±m²”ti ±ha. “Parinibb±yissasi, moggall±n±”ti? “¾ma, bhante”ti. “Kattha gantv± parinibb±yissas²”ti? “K±¼asil±padesa½, bhante”ti. “Tena hi, moggall±na, mayha½ dhamma½ kathetv± y±hi. T±disassa hi me s±vakassa na d±ni dassana½ atth²”ti. So “eva½ kariss±mi, bhante”ti satth±ra½ vanditv± ±k±sa½ uppatitv± s±riputtatthero viya parinibb±nadivase n±nappak±r± iddhiyo katv± dhamma½ kathetv± satth±ra½ vanditv± k±¼asil±padesa½ gantv± parinibb±yi. “Thera½ kira cor± m±resun”ti aya½ kath± sakalajambud²pe patthari. R±j± aj±tasattu core pariyesanatth±ya carapurise payojesi. Tesu coresu sur±p±ne sura½ pivantesu maddesu eko ekassa piµµhi½ paharitv± p±tesi. So ta½ santajjento “ambho dubbin²ta tva½, kasm± me piµµhi½ paharitv± p±tesi, ki½ pana, are duµµhacora, tay± mah±moggall±natthero paµhama½ pahato”ti ±ha. “Ki½ pana tva½ may± paµhama½ pahatabh±va½ na j±n±s²”ti? Eva½ etesa½ “may± pahato, may± pahato”ti vadant±na½ sutv± te carapuris± sabbe te core gahetv± rañño ±rocesu½. R±j± te core pakkos±petv± pucchi– “tumhehi thero m±rito”ti? “¾ma, dev±”ti. “Kehi tumhe uyyojit±”ti? “Naggasamaºehi, dev±”ti. R±j± pañcasate naggasamaºe g±h±petv± pañcasatehi corehi saddhi½ r±jaªgaºe n±bhipam±ºesu ±v±µesu nikhaº±petv± pal±lehi paµicch±detv± aggi½ d±pesi. Atha nesa½ jh±mabh±va½ j±nitv± ayanaªgalehi kas±petv± sabbe khaº¹±khaº¹a½ k±r±pesi. Tad± bhikkh³ dhammasabh±ya½ katha½ samuµµh±pesu½– “mah±moggall±natthero attano ananur³pamaraºa½ patto”ti. Satth± ±gantv± “k±ya nuttha, bhikkhave, etarahi kath±ya sannisinn±”ti pucchitv± “im±ya n±ma, bhante”ti vutte “moggall±nassa, bhikkhave, imasseva attabh±vassa ananur³pa½ maraºa½, pubbe pana tena katakammassa anur³pamev±”ti vatv± “ki½ panassa, bhante, pubbakamman”ti puµµho ta½ vitth±retv± kathesi. At²te, bhikkhave, b±r±ºasiya½ eko kulaputto sayameva koµµanapacan±d²ni karonto m±t±pitaro paµijaggi. Athassa m±t±pitaro “t±ta, tva½ ekakova gehe ca araññe ca kamma½ karonto kilamasi, eka½ te kum±rika½ ±ness±m±”ti vatv± “ammat±t±, y±va tumhe j²vatha, t±va vo sahatth± upaµµhahiss±m²”ti tena paµikkhitt±pi punappuna½ y±citv± kum±rika½ ±nesu½. S± katip±hameva te upaµµhahitv± pacch± tesa½ dassanamapi anicchant²– “na sakk± tava m±t±pit³hi saddhi½ ekaµµh±ne vasitun”ti ujjh±yitv± tasmi½ attano katha½ aggaºhante tassa bahigatak±le makaciv±kakhaº¹±ni ca y±gupheºake ca gahetv± tattha tattha ±kiritv± ten±gantv± “ki½ idan”ti puµµh± “imesa½ mahallaka-andh±na½ eta½ kamma½, sabba½ geha½ kiliµµh± karont± vicaranti, na sakk± etehi saddhi½ ekaµµh±ne vasitun”ti eva½ t±ya punappuna½ kathiyam±n±ya evar³popi p³ritap±ram² satto m±t±pit³hi saddhi½ bhijji. So “hotu, j±niss±mi nesa½ kattabbakamman”ti te bhojetv± “ammat±t±, asukaµµh±ne n±ma tumh±ka½ ñ±tak± ±gamana½ pacc±s²santi, tattha gamiss±m±”ti te y±naka½ ±ropetv± ±d±ya gacchanto aµavimajjha½ pattak±le “t±ta, rasmiyo gaºhatha, goº± daº¹asaññ±ya gamissanti, imasmi½ µh±ne cor± vasanti, aha½ otaritv± car±m²”ti pitu hatthe rasmiyo datv± otaritv± gacchanto sadda½ parivattetv± cor±na½ uµµhitasaddamak±si. M±t±pitaro sadda½ sutv± “cor± uµµhit±”ti saññ±ya “t±ta, cor± uµµhit±, mahallak± maya½, tva½ att±nameva rakkh±h²”ti ±ha½su. So m±t±pitaro viravantepi corasadda½ karonto koµµetv± m±retv± aµaviya½ khipitv± pacc±gami. Satth± ida½ tassa pubbakamma½ kathetv± “bhikkhave, moggall±no ettaka½ kamma½ katv± anekavassasatasahass±ni niraye paccitv± t±va pakk±vasesena attabh±vasate evameva koµµetv± sa½cuººo maraºa½ patto, eva½ moggall±nena attano kamm±nur³pameva maraºa½ laddha½. Pañcahi corasatehi saddhi½ pañcatitthiyasat±nipi mama putta½ appaduµµha½ dussetv± anur³pameva maraºa½ labhi½su.
