So tato cuto b±r±ºasirañño aggamahesiy± kucchimhi uppajjitv± purimanayeneva va¹¹ham±no yato pabhuti “aya½ itth², aya½ puriso”ti visesa½ aññ±si. Tadup±d±ya itth²na½ hatthe na ramati ucch±dananh±panamaº¹an±dimattampi na s±diyati. Ta½ puris± eva posenti. Thaññap±yanak±le dh±tiyo kañcuka½ paµimuñcitv± purisavesena thañña½ p±yenti. Amacco up±yena ta½ ram±petuk±mo tassa avid³re s±ºip±k±ra½ parikkhip±petv± n±µak±ni payoj±pesi. Kum±ro g²tav±ditasadda½ sutv± “kasseso saddo”ti ±ha. Amacco “taveso, deva n±µakitth²na½ saddo, puññavant±na½ ²dis±ni n±µak±ni honti. Abhirama, deva, mah±puññosi tvan”ti ±ha. Kum±ro amacca½ daº¹ena t±¼±petv± nikka¹¹h±pesi. So rañño ±rocesi. Te vissakammun± nimmitasadisa½ sabb±laªk±ravibh³sita½ itthir³pa½ karitv± dassesu½. Kum±ro disv± vimhayena s²sa½ c±letv± m±t±pit³na½ pesesi– “yadi ²disi½ itthi½ labhiss±mi, gaºhiss±m²”ti. M±t±pitaro “amh±ka½ putto mah±puñño, avassa½ tena saha katapuññ± k±ci d±rik± loke uppann± bhavissat²”ti ta½ suvaººar³pa½ ratha½ ±ropetv± amacc±na½ appesu½– “gacchatha, ²disi½ d±rika½ gavesath±”ti. Te ta½ gahetv± so¼asamah±janapade vicarant± ta½ ta½ g±ma½ gantv± udakatitth±d²su yattha yattha janasam³ha½ passanti, tattha tattha devata½ viya suvaººar³pa½ µhapetv± n±n±pupphavatth±laªk±rehi p³ja½ katv± vit±na½ bandhitv± ekamanta½ tiµµhanti “yadi kenaci evar³p± diµµhapubb± bhavissati, so katha½ samuµµh±pessat²”ti? Etenup±yena aññatra maddaraµµh± sabbajanapade ±hiº¹itv± ta½ “khuddakaraµµhan”ti avamaññam±n± tattha paµhama½ agantv± nivatti½su.

Tassa dh²t± so¼asavassuddesik± abhir³p± ahosi. Tass± vaººad±siyo nh±nodakatth±ya tittha½ gacchanti. Tattha amaccehi µhapita½ ta½ suvaººar³pa½ d³ratova disv± “amhe udakatth±ya pesetv± r±japutt² sayameva ±gat±”ti bhaºantiyo sam²pa½ gantv± “n±ya½ s±min², amh±ka½ s±min² ito abhir³patar±”ti ±ha½su. Amacc± ta½ sutv± r±j±na½ upasaªkamitv± anur³pena nayena d±rika½ y±ci½su. Sopi ad±si. Te b±r±ºasirañño p±hesu½– “laddh±, deva, kum±rik±, s±ma½ ±gacchatha, ud±hu amheva ±nem±”ti. So “mayi ±gacchante janapadap²¼± bhavissati, tumheva na½ ±neth±”ti pesesi.
Amacc±pi d±rika½ gahetv± nagar± nikkhamitv± kum±rassa p±hesu½– “laddh± suvaººar³pasadis± kum±rik±”ti. Kum±ro sutv±va r±gena abhibh³to paµhamajjh±n± parih±yi. So d³taparampar±ya pesesi– “s²gha½ ±netha, s²gha½ ±neth±”ti. Te sabbattha ekarattiv±sena b±r±ºasi½ patv± bahinagare µhit± rañño pesesu½– “ajjeva pavisitabba½, no”ti. R±j± “seµµhakul± ±n²t± d±rik±, maªgalakiriya½ katv± mah±sakk±rena pavesess±ma, uyy±na½ t±va na½ neth±”ti ±ha. Te tath± aka½su. S± accantasukhum±l± kum±rik± y±nuggh±µena ubb±¼h± addh±naparissamena uppannav±tarog± mil±tam±l± viya hutv± rattibh±ge k±lamak±si. Amacc± “sakk±r± paribhaµµhamh±”ti paridevi½su. R±j± ca n±gar± ca “kulava½so vinaµµho”ti paridevi½su. Sakalanagara½ kol±hala½ ahosi. Kum±rassa sutamatteyeva mah±soko udap±di.
Tato kum±ro sokassa m³la½ khanitu½ ±raddho. So eva½ cintesi– “aya½ soko n±ma na aj±tassa hoti, j±tassa pana hoti. Tasm± j±ti½ paµicca soko. J±ti pana ki½ paµicc±ti? Bhava½ paµicca j±t²”ti. Eva½ pubbabh±van±nubh±vena yoniso manasikaronto anulomapaµiloma½ paµiccasamupp±da½ disv± puna anulomañca saªkh±re sammasanto tattheva nisinno paccekasambodhi½ sacch±k±si. Amacc± ta½ maggaphalasukhena sukhita½ santindriya½ santam±nasa½ nisinna½ disv± paºip±ta½ katv± ±ha½su– “m± soci, deva, mahanto jambud²po, añña½ tato sundaratara½ kañña½ ±ness±m±”ti. So ±ha– “na soc±mi, nissoko paccekabuddho ahan”ti. Ito para½ sabba½ vuttapurimag±th±sadisameva µhapetv± g±th±vaººana½.
G±th±vaººan± pana eva½ veditabb±– sa½saggaj±tass±ti j±tasa½saggassa. Tattha dassanasavanak±yasamullapanasambhogasa½saggavasena pañcavidho sa½saggo. Tattha aññamañña½ disv± cakkhuviññ±ºav²thivasena uppannar±go dassanasa½saggo n±ma. Tattha s²ha¼ad²pe k±¼ad²ghav±p² g±me piº¹±ya caranta½ kaly±ºavih±rav±sid²ghabh±ºakadaharabhikkhu½ disv± paµibaddhacitt± kenaci up±yena ta½ alabhitv± k±laªkat± kuµumbiyadh²t± ca tass± niv±sanaco¼akhaº¹a½ disv± “evar³pa½ vattha½ dh±riniy± n±ma saddhi½ sa½v±sa½ n±labhin”ti phalitahadayo k±laªkato. So eva daharo ca nidassana½.
Parehi pana kathiyam±na½ r³p±disampatti½ attan± v± hasitalapitag²tasadda½ sutv± sotaviññ±ºav²thivasena uppannar±go savanasa½saggo n±ma. Tatr±pi girig±mav±sikamm±radh²t±ya pañcahi kum±rik±hi saddhi½ padumassara½ gantv± nhatv± m±la½ ±ropetv± ucc±saddena g±yantiy± sadda½ sutv± ±k±sena gacchanto k±mar±gena vises± parih±yitv± byasana½ patto pañcagga¼aleºav±s² tissadaharo nidassana½.
Aññamañña½ aªgapar±masanena uppannar±go k±yasa½saggo n±ma. Dhammabh±sanadaharabhikkhu ca r±jadh²t± cettha nidassana½. Mah±vih±re kira daharabhikkhu dhamma½ bh±sati. Tattha mah±jano ±gato, r±j±pi aggamahesiy± r±jadh²t±ya ca saddhi½ agam±si. Tato r±jadh²t±ya tassa r³pañca sarañca ±gamma balavar±go uppanno, tassa daharass±pi. Ta½ disv± r±j± sallakkhetv± s±ºip±k±rena parikkhip±pesi. Te aññamañña½ par±masitv± ±liªgi½su. Puna s±ºip±k±ra½ apanetv± passant± dvepi k±laªkateyeva addasa½s³ti.
Aññamañña½ ±lapanasamullapanavasena uppannar±go pana samullapanasa½saggo n±ma. Bhikkhu bhikkhun²hi saddhi½ paribhogakaraºe uppannar±go sambhogasa½saggo n±ma. Dv²supi etesu p±r±jikappatto bhikkhu ca bhikkhun² ca nidassana½. Maricavaµµin±mamah±vih±ramahe kira duµµhag±maºi-abhayar±j± mah±d±na½ paµiy±detv± ubhatosaªgha½ parivisati. Tattha uºhay±guy± dinn±ya saªghanavakas±maºer² an±dh±rakassa saªghanavakassa s±maºerassa dantavalaya½ datv± samullapanamak±si. Te ubhopi upasampajjitv± saµµhivass± hutv± parat²ra½ gat± aññamañña½ samullapanena pubbasañña½ paµilabhitv± t±vadeva sañj±tasineh± sikkh±pada½ v²tikkamitv± p±r±jik± ahesunti. Eva½ pañcavidhe sa½sagge yena kenaci sa½saggena j±tasa½saggassa bhavati sneho, purimar±gapaccayo balavar±go uppajjati. Tato snehanvaya½ dukkhamida½ pahoti tameva sneha½ anugacchanta½ sandiµµhikasampar±yika½ sokaparidev±din±nappak±raka½ ida½ dukkha½ pahoti pabhavati j±yati.
Apare “±rammaºe cittassa vossaggo sa½saggo”ti bhaºanti. Tato sneho, snehadukkhamidanti. Evamatthappabheda½ ima½ a¹¹hag±tha½ vatv± so paccekabuddho ±ha– “sv±ya½ yamida½ snehanvaya½ sok±didukkha½ pahoti, tameva sneha½ anugatassa dukkhassa m³la½ khananto paccekabodhi½ adhigato”ti.
Eva½ vutte te amacc± ±ha½su– “amhehi d±ni, bhante, ki½ kattabban”ti? Tato so ±ha– “tumhe v± aññataro v± imamh± dukkh± muccituk±mo, so sabbopi ±d²nava½ snehaja½ pekkham±no, eko care khaggavis±ºakappo”ti. Ettha ca ya½ ta½ “snehanvaya½ dukkhamida½ pahot²”ti vutta½, tadeva sandh±ya “±d²nava½ snehaja½ pekkham±no”ti ida½ vuttanti veditabba½. Atha v± yath±vuttena sa½saggena ‘sa½saggaj±tassa bhavati sneho, snehanvaya½ dukkhamida½ pahoti’, eva½ yath±bh³ta½ ±d²nava½ snehaja½ pekkham±no ahamadhigatoti eva½ sambandhitv± catutthap±do pubbe vuttanayeneva snehavasena vuttoti veditabbo. Tato para½ sabba½ purimag±th±ya vuttasadisamev±ti.

Aya½ paccekabodhisatto purimag±th±ya vuttanayeneva uppajjitv± b±r±ºasiya½ rajja½ k±rento paµhamajjh±na½ nibbattetv± “ki½ samaºadhammo varo, rajja½ varan”ti v²ma½sitv± amacc±na½ rajja½ niyy±tetv± samaºadhamma½ ak±si. Amacc± “dhammena samena karoth±”ti vutt±pi lañja½ gahetv± adhammena karonti. Te lañja½ gahetv± s±mike par±jayant± ekad± aññatara½ r±javallabha½ par±jesu½. So rañño bhattak±rakehi saddhi½ pavisitv± sabba½ ±rocesi. R±j± dutiyadivase saya½ vinicchayaµµh±na½ agam±si. Tato mah±jan±– “amacc±, deva, s±mike as±mike karont²”ti ucc±sadda½ karont± mah±yuddha½ viya aka½su. Atha r±j± vinicchayaµµh±n± vuµµh±ya p±s±da½ abhiruhitv± sam±patti½ appetu½ nisinno. Tena saddena vikkhittacitto na sakkoti appetu½. So “ki½ me rajjena, samaºadhammo varan”ti rajjasukha½ pah±ya puna sam±patti½ nibbattetv± pubbe vuttanayeneva vipassitv± paccekasambodhi½ sacch±k±si. Kammaµµh±nañca pucchito ima½ g±tha½ abh±si.
Tattha mett±yanavasena mitt±. Suhadayabh±vena suhajj±. Keci ekantahitak±mat±ya mitt±va honti na suhajj±. Keci gaman±gamanaµµh±nanisajj±samull±p±d²su, hadayasukhajananena suhajj±va honti, na mitt±. Keci tadubhayavasena suhajj± ceva mitt± ca honti. Te duvidh± ag±riy± ca anag±riy± ca. Tattha ag±riy± tividh± honti upak±ro sam±nasukhadukkho anukampakoti. Anag±riy± visesena atthakkh±yino eva. Te cat³hi aªgehi samann±gat± honti. Yath±ha–
“Cat³hi kho, gahapatiputta, µh±nehi upak±ro mitto suhado veditabbo. Pamatta½ rakkhati, pamattassa s±pateyya½ rakkhati, bh²tassa saraºa½ hoti, uppannesu kiccakaraº²yesu taddiguºa½ bhoga½ anuppadeti” (d². ni. 3.261).
