Nandat±paso, “t±t±, ki½ vadetha, s±sapena saddhi½ aµµhasaµµhisatasahassayojanubbedha½ sineru½ upametu½ icchatha, sabbaññubuddhena saddhi½ m± ma½ upamitth±”ti ±ha. Atha te t±pas± “sace aya½ orako abhavissa, na amh±ka½ ±cariyo eva½ upama½ ±hareyya, y±va mah± vat±ya½ puris±j±n²yo”ti p±desu nipatitv± siras± vandi½su. Atha te ±cariyo ±ha– “t±t±, amh±ka½ buddh±na½ anucchaviko deyyadhammo natthi, bhagav± ca bhikkh±c±ravel±ya½ idh±gato, tasm± maya½ yath±bala½ deyyadhamma½ dass±ma, tumhe ya½ ya½ paº²ta½ phal±phala½ ±n²ta½, ta½ ta½ ±harath±”ti vatv± ±har±petv± hatthe dhovitv± saya½ tath±gatassa patte patiµµh±pesi. Satth±r± phal±phale paµiggahitamatte devat± dibboja½ pakkhipi½su. T±paso udakampi sayameva pariss±vetv± ad±si. Nandat±paso antev±sike ±mantesi– “t±t±, buddh±na½ nisinn±sanampi n²ca½, samaºasatasahassassapi ±sana½ natthi, tumhehi ajja u¼±ra½ bhagavato bhikkhusaªghassa ca sakk±ra½ k±tu½ vaµµati pabbatap±dato vaººagandhasampann±ni pupph±ni ±harath±”ti. Acinteyyatt± iddhivisayassa muhutteneva vaººagandhasampann±ni pupph±ni ±haritv± buddh±na½ yojanappam±ºa½ pupph±sana½ paññ±pesu½. Aggas±vak±na½ tig±vuta½, sesabhikkh³na½ a¹¹hayojanik±dibheda½, saªghanavakassa usabhamatta½ ahosi. Eva½ paññattesu ±sanesu nandat±paso tath±gatassa purato añjali½ paggayha µhito, “bhante, mayha½ d²gharatta½ hit±ya sukh±ya ima½ pupph±sana½ abhiruhath±”ti ±ha. Nis²di bhagav± pupph±sane. Eva½ nisinne satthari satthu ±k±ra½ ñatv± bhikkh³ attano attano patt±sane nis²di½su. Nandat±paso mahanta½ pupphachatta½ gahetv± tath±gatassa matthake dh±rento aµµh±si. Satth± “t±pas±na½ aya½ sakk±ro mahapphalo hot³”ti nirodhasam±patti½ sam±pajji. Satthu sam±pannabh±va½ ñatv± bhikkh³pi sam±pajji½su. Tath±gate satt±ha½ nirodha½ sam±pajjitv± nisinne antev±sik± bhikkh±c±rak±le sampatte vanam³laphal±phala½ paribhuñjitv± sesak±le buddh±na½ añjali½ paggayha tiµµhanti. Nandat±paso pana bhikkh±c±rampi agantv± pupphachatta½ dh±rento satt±ha½ p²tisukheneva v²tin±meti. Satth± nirodhato vuµµh±ya araºavih±ri-aªgena dakkhiºeyyaªgena c±ti dv²hi aªgehi samann±gata½ eka½ s±vaka½ “isigaºassa pupph±san±numodana½ karoh²”ti ±º±pesi. So cakkavattirañño santik± paµiladdhamah±l±bho mah±yodho viya tuµµham±naso attano visaye µhatv± tepiµaka½ buddhavacana½ sammasitv± anumodana½ ak±si. Tassa desan±vas±ne satth± saya½ dhamma½ desesi. Desan±pariyos±ne sabbe catucatt±l²sasahassat±pas± arahatta½ p±puºi½su. Satth± “etha, bhikkhavo”ti hattha½ pas±resi. Tesa½ t±vadeva kesamassu antaradh±yi. Aµµha parikkh±r± k±ye paµimukk±va ahesu½ saµµhivassatther± viya satth±ra½ pariv±rayi½su. Nandat±paso pana vikkhittacittat±ya visesa½ n±dhigacchi. Tassa kira araºavih±rittherassa santike dhamma½ sotu½ ±raddhak±lato paµµh±ya “aho vat±hampi an±gate uppajjanakabuddhassa s±sane imin± s±vakena laddhadhura½ labheyyan”ti citta½ udap±di. So tena parivitakkena maggaphalapaµivedha½ k±tu½ n±sakkhi. Tath±gata½ pana vanditv± sammukhe µhatv± ±ha– “bhante, yena bhikkhun± isigaºassa pupph±san±numodan± kat±, ko n±m±ya½ tumh±ka½ s±sane”ti. “Araºavih±ri-aªge dakkhiºeyya-aªge ca etadagga½ patto eso bhikkh³”ti. “Bhante, yv±ya½ may± satt±ha½ pupphachatta½ dh±rentena sakk±ro kato, tena adhik±rena na añña½ sampatti½ patthemi, an±gate pana ekassa buddhassa s±sane aya½ thero viya dv²haªgehi samann±gato s±vako bhaveyyan”ti patthanamak±si. Satth± “samijjhissati nu, kho imassa t±pasassa patthan±”ti an±gata½sañ±ºa½ pesetv± olokento kappasatasahassa½ atikkamitv± samijjhanakabh±va½ disv± nandat±pasa½ ±ha– “na te aya½ patthan± mogh± bhavissati, an±gate kappasatasahassa½ atikkamitv± gotamo n±ma buddho uppajjissati, tassa santike samijjhissat²”ti vatv± dhammakatha½ kathetv± bhikkhusaªghaparivuto ±k±sa½ pakkhandi. Nandat±paso y±va cakkhupathasamatikkam± satth±ra½ bhikkhusaªghañca uddissa añjali½ paggayha aµµh±si. So aparabh±ge k±lena k±la½ satth±ra½ upasaªkamitv± dhamma½ suºi. Aparih²najjh±nova k±laªkatv± brahmaloke nibbatto. Tato pana cuto apar±nipi pañca j±tisat±ni pabbajitv± ±raññako ahosi. Kassapasamm±sambuddhak±lepi pabbajitv± ±raññako hutv± gatapacc±gatavatta½ p³resi. Eta½ kira vatta½ aparip³retv± mah±s±vakabh±va½ p±puºant± n±ma natthi. Gatapacc±gatavatta½ pana ±gamaµµhakath±su vuttanayeneva veditabba½. So v²sativassasahass±ni gatapacc±gatavatta½ p³retv± k±laªkatv± k±m±vacaradevaloke t±vati½sabhavane nibbatti. ubhopi m± vir±dhesi, nikkhamassu van± tuva½.
“Chav±l±ta½ yath± kaµµha½, na kvaci kiccak±raka½;
neva g±me araññe v±, na hi ta½ kaµµhasammata½.
“Chav±l±t³pamo tva½ si, na gih² n±pi saññato;
ubhato muttako ajja, nikkhamassu van± tuva½.
“Siy± nu kho tava eta½, ko paj±n±ti te ida½;
saddh±dhura½ vahisi me, kosajjabahul±ya ca.
“Jigucchissanti ta½ viññ³, asuci½ n±gariko yath±;
±ka¹¹hitv±na isayo, codayissanti ta½ sad±.
“Ta½ viññ³ pavadissanti, samatikkantas±sana½;
sa½v±sa½ alabhanto hi, katha½ j²vihisi tuva½.
“Tidh±pabhinna½ m±taªga½, kuñjara½ saµµhih±yana½;
bal² n±go upagantv±, y³th± n²harate gaja½.
“Y³th± vinissaµo santo, sukha½ s±ta½ na vindati;
dukkhito vimano hoti, pajjh±yanto pavedhati.
“Tatheva jaµil± tampi, n²harissanti dummati½;
tehi tva½ nissaµo santo, sukha½ s±ta½ na lacchasi.
“Div± v± yadi v± ratti½, sokasallasamappito;
dayhati pari¼±hena, gajo y³th±va nissaµo.
“J±tar³pa½ yath± k³µa½, neva jh±yati katthaci;
tath± s²lav²hino tva½, na jh±yissasi katthaci.
