Tesu jeµµho taphusso n±ma, kaniµµho bhalliyo n±ma, te pañcamatt±ni sakaµasat±ni bhaº¹assa p³retv± v±ºijj±ya gacchant± bhagavati paµham±bhisambuddhe sattasatt±ha½ vimuttisukhadhammapaccavekkhaº±hi v²tin±metv± aµµhame satt±he r±j±yatanam³le viharante r±j±yatanassa avid³re mah±maggena atikkamanti, tesa½ tasmi½ samaye samepi bh³mibh±ge akaddamodake sakaµ±ni nappavatti½su, “ki½ nu, kho, k±raºan”ti ca cintent±na½ por±ºas±lohit± devat± rukkhaviµapantare att±na½ dassent² ±ha– “m±dis±, aya½ bhagav± acir±bhisambuddho sattasatt±ha½ an±h±ro vimuttisukh±paµisa½ved² id±ni r±j±yatanam³le nisinno, ta½ ±h±rena paµim±netha, yadassa tumh±ka½ d²gharatta½ hit±ya sukh±y±”ti. Tesa½ bhagav± dhamma½ desesi. Tesu taphusso sot±pattiphale patiµµh±ya up±sakova ahosi. Bhalliyo pana pabbajitv± cha¼abhiñño ahosi. Tena vutta½ apad±ne (apa. thera 2.48.66-70)–
“Sumano n±ma sambuddho, takkar±ya½ vas² tad±;
vallik±raphala½ gayha, sayambhussa ad±saha½.
“Ekati½se ito kappe, ya½ phala½ adadi½ tad±;
duggati½ n±bhij±n±mi, phalad±nassida½ phala½.
“Kiles± jh±pit± mayha½…pe… kata½ buddhassa s±sanan”ti;

Na¼asetu½va sudubbala½ mahoghoti s±ravirahitato na¼asetusadisa½ ativiya abalabh±vato suµµhu dubbala½ sa½kilesasena½ navalokuttaradhamm±na½ mah±balavabh±vato mahoghasadisena aggamaggena yo ap±nudi vijit±v² apetabheravo danto, so parinibbuto µhitattoti yojan±. Ta½ sutv± m±ro “j±n±ti ma½ samaºo”ti tatthevantaradh±y²ti.
