So ta½ devakum±ra½ viya n±nappak±rehi sukh³pakaraºehi sa½va¹¹hento ta½ s±pateyya½ tassa aniyy±tetv±va k±lamak±si saddhi½ br±hmaºiy±. Tato tassa m±ºavassa m±t±pit³na½ accayena bhaº¹±g±riko s±ragabbha½ vivaritv± s±pateyya½ niyy±tento ±ha– “ida½ te, s±mi, m±t±pit³na½ santaka½, ida½ ayyakapayyak±na½ santaka½, ida½ sattakulaparivaµµena ±gatan”ti. M±ºavo dhana½ disv± cintesi– “ida½ dhana½yeva dissati, yehi pana ida½ sañcita½, te na dissanti, sabbeva maccuvasa½ gat±. Gacchant± ca na ito kiñci ±d±ya agama½su, eva½ n±ma bhoge pah±ya gantabbo paraloko, na sakk± kiñci ±d±ya gantu½ aññatra sucaritena. Ya½n³n±ha½ ima½ dhana½ pariccajitv± sucaritadhana½ gaºheyya½, ya½ sakk± ±d±ya gantun”ti. So divase divase satasahassa½ vissajjento puna cintesi– “pah³tamida½ dhana½, ki½ imin± evamappakena paricc±gena, ya½n³n±ha½ mah±d±na½ dadeyyan”ti. So rañño ±rocesi– “mah±r±ja, mama ghare ettaka½ dhana½ atthi, icch±mi tena mah±d±na½ d±tu½. S±dhu, mah±r±ja, nagare ghosana½ k±r±peth±”ti. R±j± tath± k±r±pesi. So ±gat±gat±na½ bh±jan±ni p³retv± sattahi divasehi sabbadhanamad±si datv± ca cintesi– “eva½ mah±paricc±ga½ katv± ayutta½ ghare vasitu½, ya½n³n±ha½ pabbajeyyan”ti. Tato parijanassa etamattha½ ±rocesi. Te “m±, tva½ s±mi, ‘dhana½ parikkh²ºan’ti cintayi, maya½ appakeneva k±lena n±n±vidhehi up±yehi dhanasañcaya½ kariss±m±”ti vatv± n±nappak±rehi ta½ y±ci½su. So tesa½ y±cana½ an±diyitv±va t±pasapabbajja½ pabbaji.
Tattha aµµhavidh± t±pas±– saputtabhariy±, uñch±c±rik±, sampattak±lik±, anaggipakkik±, asmamuµµhik±, dantaluyyak±, pavattaphalik±, vaºµamuttik± c±ti (d². ni. aµµha. 1.280). Tattha saputtabhariy±ti puttad±rena saddhi½ pabbajitv± kasivaºijj±d²hi j²vika½ kappayam±n± keºiyajaµil±dayo. Uñch±c±rik±ti nagaradv±re assama½ k±r±petv± tattha khattiyabr±hmaºakum±r±dayo sipp±d²ni sikkh±petv± hiraññasuvaººa½ paµikkhipitv± tilataº¹ul±dikappiyabhaº¹apaµigg±hak±, te saputtabhariyehi seµµhatar±. Sampattak±lik±ti ±h±ravel±ya sampatta½ ±h±ra½ gahetv± y±pent±, te uñch±c±rikehi seµµhatar±. Anaggipakkik±ti aggin± apakkapattaphal±ni kh±ditv± y±pent±, te sampattak±likehi seµµhatar±. Asmamuµµhik±ti muµµhip±s±ºa½ gahetv± añña½ v± kiñci v±sisatthak±di½ gahetv± vicarant± yad± ch±t± honti, tad± sampattarukkhato taca½ gahetv± kh±ditv± uposathaªg±ni adhiµµh±ya catt±ro brahmavih±re bh±venti, te anaggipakkikehi seµµhatar±. Dantaluyyak±ti muµµhip±s±º±d²nipi agahetv± carant± khud±k±le sampattarukkhato dantehi upp±µetv± taca½ kh±ditv± uposathaªg±ni adhiµµh±ya brahmavih±re bh±venti, te asmamuµµhikehi seµµhatar±. Pavattaphalik±ti j±tassara½ v± vanasaº¹a½ v± niss±ya vasant± ya½ tattha sare bhisamu¼±l±di, ya½ v± vanasaº¹e pupphak±le puppha½, phalak±le phala½, tameva kh±danti. Pupphaphale asati antamaso tattha rukkhapapaµikampi kh±ditv± vasanti, na tveva ±h±ratth±ya aññatra gacchanti. Uposathaªg±dhiµµh±na½ brahmavih±rabh±vana½ ca karonti, te dantaluyyakehi seµµhatar±. Vaºµamuttik± n±ma vaºµamutt±ni bh³miya½ patit±ni paºº±niyeva kh±danti, sesa½ purimasadisameva, te sabbaseµµh±.
Aya½ pana br±hmaºakulaputto “t±pasapabbajj±su aggapabbajja½ pabbajiss±m²”ti vaºµamuttikapabbajjameva pabbajitv± himavante dve tayo pabbate atikkamma assama½ k±r±petv± paµivasati. Atha bhagav± loke uppajjitv± pavattitavaradhammacakko anupubbena s±vatthi½ gantv± s±vatthiya½ viharati jetavane an±thapiº¹ikassa ±r±me. Tena kho pana samayena s±vatthiv±s² eko puriso pabbate candanas±r±d²ni gavesanto tassa assama½ patv± abhiv±detv± ekamanta½ aµµh±si. So ta½ disv± “kuto ±gatos²”ti pucchi. “S±vatthito, bhante”ti. “K± tattha pavatt²”ti? “Tattha, bhante, manuss± appamatt± d±n±d²ni puññ±ni karont²”ti. “Kassa ov±da½ sutv±”ti? “Buddhassa bhagavato”ti. T±paso buddhasaddassavanena vimhito “buddhoti tva½, bho purisa, vades²”ti ±magandhe vuttanayeneva tikkhattu½ pucchitv± “ghosopi kho eso dullabho”ti attamano bhagavato santika½ gantuk±mo hutv± cintesi– “na yutta½ buddhassa santika½ tucchameva gantu½, ki½ nu kho gahetv± gaccheyyan”ti. Puna cintesi– “buddh± n±ma ±misagaruk± na honti, hand±ha½ dhammapaºº±k±ra½ gahetv± gacch±m²”ti catt±ro pañhe abhisaªkhari
“K²diso mitto na sevitabbo, k²diso mitto sevitabbo;
k²diso payogo payuñjitabbo, ki½ ras±na½ aggan”ti.
So te pañhe gahetv± majjhimades±bhimukho pakkamitv± anupubbena s±vatthi½ patv± jetavana½ paviµµho. Bhagav±pi tasmi½ samaye dhammadesanatth±ya ±sane nisinnoyeva hoti. So bhagavanta½ disv± avanditv±va ekamanta½ aµµh±si. Bhagav± “kacci, isi, khaman²yan”ti-±din± nayena sammodi. Sopi “khaman²ya½, bho gotam±”ti-±din± nayena paµisammoditv± “yadi buddho bhavissati, manas± pucchite pañhe v±c±ya eva vissajjessat²”ti manas± eva bhagavanta½ te pañhe pucchi. Bhagav± br±hmaºena puµµho ±dipañha½ t±va vissajjetu½ hiri½ tarantanti ±rabhitv± a¹¹hateyy± g±th±yo ±ha.
256. T±sa½ attho– hiri½ tarantanti hiri½ atikkamanta½ ahirika½ nillajja½. Vijiguccham±nanti asucimiva passam±na½. Ahiriko hi hiri½ jigucchati asucimiva passati, tena na½ na bhajati na all²yati. Tena vutta½ “vijiguccham±nan”ti. Tav±hamasmi iti bh±sam±nanti “aha½, samma, tava sah±yo hitak±mo sukhak±mo, j²vitampi me tuyha½ atth±ya pariccattan”ti evam±din± nayena bh±sam±na½. Sayh±ni kamm±ni an±diyantanti eva½ bh±sitv±pi ca sayh±ni k±tu½ sakk±nipi tassa kamm±ni an±diyanta½ karaºatth±ya asam±diyanta½. Atha v± cittena tattha ±daramattampi akaronta½, apica kho pana uppannesu kiccesu byasanameva dassenta½. Neso mamanti iti na½ vijaññ±ti ta½ evar³pa½ “mittapaµir³pako eso, neso me mitto”ti eva½ paº¹ito puriso vij±neyya.
257. Ananvayanti ya½ attha½ dass±mi, kariss±m²ti ca bh±sati, tena ananugata½. Piya½ v±ca½ yo mittesu pakubbat²ti yo at²t±n±gatehi padehi paµisantharanto niratthakena saªgaºhanto kevala½ byañjanacch±y±matteneva piya½ mittesu v±ca½ pavatteti. Akaronta½ bh±sam±na½, parij±nanti paº¹it±ti evar³pa½ ya½ bh±sati, ta½ akaronta½, kevala½ v±c±ya bh±sam±na½ “vac²paramo n±mesa amitto mittapaµir³pako”ti eva½ paricchinditv± paº¹it± j±nanti.
258. Na so mitto yo sad± appamatto, bhed±saªk² randhamev±nupass²ti yo bhedameva ±saªkam±no katamadhurena upac±rena sad± appamatto viharati, ya½kiñci assatiy± amanasik±rena kata½, aññ±ºakena v± akata½, “yad± ma½ garahissati, tad± na½ etena paµicodess±m²”ti eva½ randhameva anupassati, na so mitto sevitabboti.
Eva½ bhagav± “k²diso mitto na sevitabbo”ti ima½ ±dipañha½ vissajjetv± dutiya½ vissajjetu½ “yasmiñca set²”ti ima½ upa¹¹hag±tham±ha. Tassattho yasmiñca mitte mitto tassa hadayamanupavisitv± sayanena yath± n±ma pitu urasi putto “imassa mayi urasi sayante dukkha½ v± anattamanat± v± bhaveyy±”ti-±d²hi aparisaªkam±no nibbisaªko hutv± seti, evameva½ d±radhanaj²vit±d²su viss±sa½ karonto mittabh±vena nibbisaªko seti. Yo ca parehi k±raºasata½ k±raºasahassampi vatv± abhejjo, sa ve mitto sevitabboti.
259. Eva½ bhagav± “k²diso mitto sevitabbo”ti eva½ dutiyapañha½ vissajjetv± tatiya½ vissajjetu½ “p±mujjakaraºan”ti g±tham±ha. Tassattho– p±mujja½ karot²ti p±mujjakaraºa½. Ýh±nanti k±raºa½. Ki½ pana tanti? V²riya½. Tañhi dhamm³pasañhita½ p²tip±mojjasukhamupp±danato p±mujjakaraºanti vuccati. Yath±ha “sv±kh±te, bhikkhave, dhammavinaye yo ±raddhav²riyo, so sukha½ viharat²”ti (a. ni. 1.319). Pasa½sa½ ±vahat²ti pasa½s±vahana½. ¾dito dibbam±nusakasukh±na½ pariyos±ne nibb±nasukhassa ±vahanato phal³pac±rena sukha½. Phala½ paµikaªkham±no phal±nisa½so. Bh±vet²ti va¹¹heti. Vahanto porisa½ dhuranti puris±nucchavika½ bh±ra½ ±d±ya viharanto eta½ sammappadh±nav²riyasaªkh±ta½ µh±na½ bh±veti, ²diso payogo sevitabboti.
260. Eva½ bhagav± “k²diso payogo payuñjitabbo”ti tatiyapañha½ vissajjetv± catuttha½ vissajjetu½ “pavivekarasan”ti g±tham±ha. Tattha pavivekoti kilesavivekato j±tatt± aggaphala½ vuccati, tassa rasoti ass±danaµµhena ta½sampayutta½ sukha½. Upasamopi kiles³pasamante j±tatt± nibb±nasaªkh±ta-upasam±rammaºatt± v± tadeva, dhammap²tirasopi ariyadhammato anapet±ya nibb±nasaªkh±te dhamme uppann±ya p²tiy± rasatt± tadeva. Ta½ pavivekarasa½ upasamassa ca rasa½ pitv± tadeva dhammap²tirasa½ piva½ niddaro hoti nipp±po, pivitv±pi kilesapari¼±h±bh±vena niddaro, pivantopi pah²nap±patt± nipp±po hoti, tasm± eta½ ras±namagganti. Keci pana “jh±nanibb±napaccavekkhaº±na½ k±yacitta-upadhivivek±nañca vasena pavivekaras±dayo tayo eva ete dhamm±”ti yojenti purimameva sundara½. Eva½ bhagav± catutthapañha½ vissajjento arahattanik³µena desana½ niµµh±pesi. Desan±pariyos±ne br±hmaºo bhagavato santike pabbajitv± katip±heneva paµisambhid±ppatto arah± ahos²ti.
