Te ±ha½su– “na, bhante, r±jadaº¹ena, na dubbhikkhen±ya½ g±mo upadduto, apica buddho loke uppanno, so bhagav± bahujanahit±ya dhamma½ desento idh±gato”ti. Bhagav± “kacci vo isayo khaman²yan”ti-±din± nayena tehi saddhi½ paµisammodi. Tepi “khaman²ya½, bho gotam±”ti-±dim±ha½su. Tato ±magandho bhagavanta½ pucchi– “±magandha½, bho gotama, bhuñjasi, na bhuñjas²”ti? “Ko so, br±hmaºa, ±magandho n±m±”ti? “Macchama½sa½, bho gotam±”ti. Bhagav± “na, br±hmaºa, macchama½sa½ ±magandho. Apica kho ±magandho n±ma sabbe kiles± p±pak± akusal± dhamm±”ti vatv± “na, br±hmaºa, id±ni tvameva ±magandha½ pucchi, at²tepi tisso n±ma br±hmaºo kassapa½ bhagavanta½ pucchi. Evañca so pucchi, evañcassa bhagav± by±k±s²”ti tissena ca br±hmaºena kassapena ca bhagavat± vuttag±th±yo eva ±netv± t±hi g±th±hi br±hmaºa½ saññ±pento ±ha– “s±m±kaciªg³lakac²nak±ni c±”ti. Aya½ t±va imassa suttassa idha uppatti. At²te pana kassapo kira bodhisatto aµµh±saªkhyeyy±ni kappasatasahassañca p±ramiyo p³retv± b±r±ºasiya½ brahmadattassa br±hmaºassa dhanavat² n±ma br±hmaº², tass± kucchimhi paµisandhi½ aggahesi. Aggas±vakopi ta½ divasa½yeva devalok± cavitv± anupurohitabr±hmaºassa paj±patiy± kucchimhi nibbatti. Eva½ tesa½ ekadivasameva paµisandhiggahaºañca gabbhavuµµh±nañca ahosi, ekadivasameva etesa½ ekassa kassapo, ekassa tissoti n±mamaka½su. Te sahapa½suk²¼anak± dve sah±y± anupubbena vu¹¹hi½ agami½su. Tissassa pit± putta½ ±º±pesi– “aya½, t±ta, kassapo nikkhamma pabbajitv± buddho bhavissati, tvampissa santike pabbajitv± bhavanissaraºa½ kareyy±s²”ti. So “s±dh³”ti paµissuºitv± bodhisattassa santika½ gantv± “ubhopi, samma, pabbajiss±m±”ti ±ha. Bodhisatto “s±dh³”ti paµissuºi. Tato vu¹¹hi½ anuppattak±lepi tisso bodhisatta½ ±ha– “ehi, samma, pabbajiss±m±”ti bodhisatto na nikkhami. Tisso “na t±vassa ñ±ºa½ parip±ka½ gatan”ti saya½ nikkhamma isipabbajja½ pabbajitv± araññe pabbatap±de assama½ k±r±petv± vasati. Athekadivasa½ b±r±ºasiv±s² eko puriso pabbate candanas±r±d²ni gavesanto tissassa t±pasassa assama½ patv± ta½ abhiv±detv± ekamanta½ aµµh±si. Bhagav±pi tasmi½ samaye dhammadesanatth±ya ±sane nisinnoyeva hoti. T±paso bhagavanta½ upasaªkamma anabhiv±detv± tuºh²bh³to ekamanta½ aµµh±si. Bhagav± ta½ disv± pubbe vuttanayeneva paµisammodi. Sopi “khaman²ya½, bho kassap±”ti-±d²ni vatv± ekamanta½ nis²ditv± bhagavanta½ pucchi– “±magandha½, bho kassapa, bhuñjasi, na bhuñjas²”ti? “N±ha½, br±hmaºa, ±magandha½ bhuñj±m²”ti. “S±dhu, s±dhu, bho kassapa, parakuºapa½ akh±danto sundaramak±si, yuttameta½ bhoto kassapassa j±tiy± ca kulassa ca gottassa c±”ti. Tato bhagav± “aha½ kilese sandh±ya ‘±magandha½ na bhuñj±m²’ti vad±mi, br±hmaºo macchama½sa½ pacceti, ya½n³n±ha½ sve g±ma½ piº¹±ya apavisitv± kik²rañño geh± ±bhata½ piº¹ap±ta½ paribhuñjeyya½, eva½ ±magandha½ ±rabbha kath± pavattissati. Tato br±hmaºa½ dhammadesan±ya saññ±pess±m²”ti dutiyadivase k±lasseva sar²raparikamma½ katv± gandhakuµi½ p±visi. Bhikkh³ gandhakuµidv±ra½ pihita½ disv± “na bhagav± ajja bhikkh³hi saddhi½ pavisituk±mo”ti ñatv± gandhakuµi½ padakkhiºa½ katv± piº¹±ya pavisi½su. Bhagav±pi gandhakuµito nikkhamma paññatt±sane nis²di. Mus±v±do hi garahito buddh±na½, yepi te pabbatap±de vanam³laphal±d²hi y±pent± isayo vasanti, tepi mus± na bhaºant²”ti vatv± puna is²na½ guºe g±th±ya vaººento ±ha “s±m±kaciªg³lakac²nak±ni c±”ti. 242.
