Ayañhi sa½varavinayo, pah±navinayoti duvidho vinayo. Ettha ca duvidhe vinaye ekameko vinayo pañcadh± bhijjati. Sa½varavinayopi hi s²lasa½varo, satisa½varo, ñ±ºasa½varo, khantisa½varo, v²riyasa½varoti pañcavidho. Pah±navinayopi tadaªgappah±na½, vikkhambhanappah±na½, samucchedappah±na½, paµippassaddhippah±na½, nissaraºappah±nanti pañcavidho. Tattha “imin± p±timokkhasa½varena upeto hoti samupeto”ti-±d²su (vibha. 511) s²lasa½varo, “rakkhati cakkhundriya½, cakkhundriye sa½vara½ ±pajjat²”ti-±d²su (d². ni. 1.213; ma. ni. 1.295; sa½. ni. 4.239; a. ni. 3.16) satisa½varo.

K±mañcettha pah±navinayena vinayo na sambhavati. Yehi pana dhammehi pah±na½ hoti, tehi vinentopi pariy±yato “pah±navinayena vinet²”ti vuccati. Paµippassaddhippah±nak±le pana vinetabb±bh±vato nissaraºappah±nassa ca anupp±detabbato na tehi kiñci vinet²ti vuccati. Ta½ kissa hetu? Na, bhikkhave, sapatto sapattassa vaººavat±ya nandati. Kodhan±ya½, bhikkhave, purisapuggalo kodh±bhibh³to kodhapareto kiñc±pi so hoti sunh±to suvilitto kappitakesamassu od±tavatthavasano, atha kho so dubbaººova hoti kodh±bhibh³to. Ettha ca kiñc±pi an±g±mino k±mar±gassa pah²natt± idhattabh±v±d²su chandar±go eva natthi; apica kho panassa tatiyamagg±d²na½ viya vaººappak±sanattha½ sabbameta½ orap±rabheda½ saªgahetv± tattha chandar±gappah±nena “jah±ti orap±ran”ti vutta½. Id±ni tassatthassa vibh±vanatth±ya upama½ ±ha “urago jiººamiva taca½ pur±ºan”ti. Tattha urena gacchat²ti urago, sappasseta½ adhivacana½. So duvidho– k±mar³p² ca ak±mar³p² ca. K±mar³p²pi duvidho– jalajo thalajo ca. Jalajo jale eva k±mar³pa½ labhati, na thale, saªkhap±laj±take saªkhap±lan±gar±j± viya. Thalajo thale eva, na jale. So jajjarabh±vena jiººa½, cirak±lat±ya pur±ºañc±ti saªkha½ gata½. Taca½ jahanto catubbidhena jah±ti– saj±tiya½ µhito, jigucchanto, niss±ya, th±men±ti. Saj±ti n±ma sappaj±ti d²ghattabh±vo. Urag± hi pañcasu µh±nesu saj±ti½ n±tivattanti– upapattiya½, cutiya½, vissaµµhaniddokkamane, sam±naj±tiy± methunapaµisevane, jiººatac±panayane c±ti. Sappo hi yad± taca½ jah±ti, tad± saj±tiya½yeva µhatv± jah±ti. Saj±tiya½ µhitopi ca jigucchanto jah±ti. Jigucchanto n±ma yad± upa¹¹haµµh±ne mutto hoti, upa¹¹haµµh±ne amutto olambati, tad± na½ aµµ²yanto jah±ti. Eva½ jigucchantopi ca daº¹antara½ v± m³lantara½ v± p±s±ºantara½ v± niss±ya jah±ti.
