Eko kira kuµumbikaputto pitari k±lakate khette ca ghare ca sabbakamm±ni attan±va karonto m±tara½ paµijaggi. Athassa m±t± “kum±rika½ te, t±ta, ±ness±m²”ti ±ha. “Amma m± eva½ vadetha, aha½ y±vaj²va½ tumhe paµijaggiss±m²”ti. “T±ta, khette ca ghare ca kicca½ tvameva karosi, tena mayha½ cittasukha½ n±ma na hoti, ±ness±m²”ti. So punappuna½ paµikkhipitv± tuŗh² ahosi. S± eka½ kula½ gantuk±m± geh± nikkhami. Atha na½ putto “katara½ kula½ gacchath±”ti pucchitv± “asukakula½ n±m±”ti vutte tattha gamana½ paµisedhetv± attano abhirucita½ kula½ ±cikkhi. S± tattha gantv± kum±rika½ v±retv± divasa½ vavatthapetv± ta½ ±netv± tassa ghare ak±si. S± vańjh± ahosi. Atha na½ m±t±, putta, tva½ attano ruciy± kum±rika½ ±ŗ±pesi, s± id±ni vańjh± j±t±, aputtakańca n±ma kula½ vinassati paveŗ² na ghaµ²yati, tena ańńa½ te kum±rika½ ±nem²ti. Tena “ala½, amm±”ti vuccam±n±pi punappuna½ kathesi. Vańjhitth² ta½ katha½ sutv± “putt± n±ma m±t±pit³na½ vacana½ atikkamitu½ na sakkonti, id±ni ańńa½ vij±yini½ itthi½ ±netv± ma½ d±sibhogena bhuńjissati. Ya½n³n±ha½ sayameva eka½ kum±rika½ ±neyyan”ti cintetv± eka½ kula½ gantv± tassatth±ya kum±rika½ v±retv± “ki½ n±meta½, amma, vades²”ti tehi paµikkhitt± “aha½ vańjh±, aputtaka½ n±ma kula½ vinassati, tumh±ka½ pana dh²t± putta½ v± dh²tara½ v± labhitv± kuµumbikassa s±min² bhavissati, mayha½ s±mikassa na½ deth±”ti y±citv± sampaµicch±petv± ±netv± s±mikassa ghare ak±si.

Atha na½ paµivissakitthiyo pucchi½su– “kacci te sapatti antar±ya½ karot²”ti? S± tamattha½ ±rocetv± “andhab±le, kasm± evamak±si, aya½ tava issariyabhayena gabbhassa p±tanabhesajja½ yojetv± deti, tena te gabbho patati, m± puna evamakatth±”ti vutt± tatiyav±re na kathesi. Atha s± itariss± udara½ disv± “kasm± mayha½ gabbhassa patiµµhitabh±va½ na kathes²”ti vatv± “tva½ ma½ ±netv± vańcetv± dve v±re gabbha½ p±tesi, kimattha½ tuyha½ kathem²”ti vutte “naµµh± d±nimh²”ti cintetv± tass± pam±da½ olokent² pariŗate gabbhe ok±sa½ labhitv± bhesajja½ yojetv± ad±si. Gabbho pariŗatatt± patitu½ asakkonto tiriya½ nipati, khar± vedan± uppajji, j²vitasa½saya½ p±puŗi. Kukkuµ² na cirasseva aŗ¹±ni vij±yi, majj±r² ±gantv± t±ni aŗ¹±ni kh±di. Dutiyampi tatiyampi kh±diyeva. Kukkuµ² cintesi– “tayo v±re mama aŗ¹±ni kh±ditv± id±ni mampi kh±dituk±m±s²”ti. “Ito cut± saputtaka½ ta½ kh±ditu½ labheyyan”ti patthana½ katv± tato cut± arańńe d²pin² hutv± nibbatti. Itar± mig² hutv± nibbatti. Tass± vij±tak±le d²pin² ±gantv± tayo v±re puttake kh±di. Tad± s± yakkhin² udakav±ra½ gat± hoti. Vessavaŗassa hi yakkhiniyo v±rena anotattadahato s²saparampar±ya udakam±haranti. T± catum±saccayenapi pańcam±saccayenapi muccanti. Apar± yakkhiniyo kilantak±y± j²vitakkhayampi p±puŗanti. S± pana udakav±rato muttamatt±va vegena ta½ ghara½ gantv± “kuhi½ me sah±yik±”ti pucchi. “Kuhi½ na½ passissasi, tass± imasmi½ µh±ne j±taj±tad±rake yakkhin² ±gantv± kh±dati, tasm± kulageha½ gat±”ti. S± “yattha v± tattha v± gacchatu, na me muccissat²”ti veravegasamuss±hitam±nas± nagar±bhimukh² pakkhandi. Itar±pi n±maggahaŗadivase na½ d±raka½ nh±petv± n±ma½ katv±, “s±mi, id±ni sakaghara½ gacch±m±”ti puttam±d±ya s±mikena saddhi½ vih±ramajjhe gatamaggena gacchant² putta½ s±mikassa datv± vih±rapokkharaŗiy± nh±tv± s±mike nh±yante uttaritv± puttassa thańńa½ p±yam±n± µhit± yakkhini½ ±gacchanti½ disv± sańj±nitv±, “s±mi, vegena ehi, aya½ s± yakkhin², vegena ehi, aya½ s± yakkhin²”ti ucc±sadda½ katv± y±va tassa ±gamana½ saŗµh±tu½ asakkont² nivattetv± antovih±r±bhimukh² pakkhandi.
Tasmi½ samaye satth± parisamajjhe dhamma½ desesi. S± putta½ tath±gatassa p±dapiµµhe nipajj±petv± “tumh±ka½ may± esa dinno, puttassa me j²vita½ deth±”ti ±ha. Dv±rakoµµhake adhivattho sumanadevo n±ma yakkhiniy± anto pavisitu½ n±d±si. Satth± ±nandatthera½ ±mantetv± “gaccha, ±nanda, ta½ yakkhini½ pakkos±h²”ti ±ha. Thero pakkosi. Itar± “aya½, bhante, ±gacchat²”ti ±ha. Satth± “etu, m± saddamak±s²”ti vatv± ta½ ±gantv± µhita½ “kasm± eva½ karosi, sace tumhe m±disassa buddhassa sammukh²bh±va½ n±gamissatha, ahinakul±na½ viya acchaphandan±na½ viya k±kol³k±na½ viya ca kappaµµhitika½ vo vera½ abhavissa kasm± vera½ paµivera½ karotha. Tattha na hi veren±ti yath± hi khe¼asiŖgh±ŗik±d²hi asuc²hi makkhita½ µh±na½ teheva asuc²hi dhovant± suddha½ niggandha½ k±tu½ na sakkonti, atha kho ta½ µh±na½ bhiyyosomatt±ya asuddhatarańceva duggandhatarańca hoti; evameva akkosanta½ paccakkosanto paharanta½ paµipaharanto verena vera½ v³pasametu½ na sakkoti, atha kho bhiyyo bhiyyo verameva karoti. Iti ver±ni n±ma verena kismińci k±le na sammanti, atha kho va¹¹hantiyeva. Averena ca sammant²ti yath± pana t±ni khe¼±d²ni asuc²ni vippasannena udakena dhoviyam±n±ni nassanti, ta½ µh±na½ suddha½ hoti sugandha½; evameva averena khantimettodakena yoniso manasik±rena paccavekkhaŗena ver±ni v³pasammanti paµippassambhanti abh±va½ gacchanti. Esa dhammo sanantanoti esa averena ver³pasamanasaŖkh±to por±ŗako dhammo; sabbesa½ buddhapaccekabuddhakh²ŗ±sav±na½ gatamaggoti.
G±th±pariyos±ne yakkhin² sot±pattiphale patiµµhahi. Sampattaparis±yapi dhammadesan± s±tthik± ahosi.
Satth± ta½ itthi½ ±ha– “etiss± tava putta½ deh²”ti. “Bh±y±mi, bhante”ti. “M± bh±yi, natthi te eta½ niss±ya paripantho”ti ±ha. S± tass± puttamad±si. S± ta½ cumbitv± ±liŖgetv± puna m±tuyeva datv± roditu½ ±rabhi. Atha na½ satth± “kimetan”ti pucchi. “Bhante, aha½ pubbe yath± v± tath± v± j²vika½ kappent²pi kucchip³ra½ n±lattha½, id±ni katha½ j²viss±m²”ti. Atha na½ satth± “m± cintay²”ti samass±setv± ta½ itthim±ha– “ima½ netv± attano gehe niv±s±petv± aggay±gubhattehi paµijagg±h²”ti. S± ta½ netv± piµµhiva½se patiµµh±petv± aggay±gubhattehi paµijaggi, tass± v²hipaharaŗak±le musalaggena muddha½ paharanta½ viya upaµµh±si. S± sah±yika½ ±mantetv± “imasmi½ µh±ne vasitu½ na sakkomi, ańńattha ma½ patiµµh±peh²”ti vatv± musalas±l±ya udakac±µiya½ uddhane nibbakose saŖk±rak³µe g±madv±re c±ti etesu µh±nesu patiµµh±pit±pi idha me musalena s²sa½ bhindanta½ viya upaµµh±ti, idha d±rak± ucchiµµhodaka½ ot±renti, idha sunakh± nipajjanti, idha d±rak± asuci½ karonti, idha kacavara½ cha¹¹enti, idha g±mad±rak± lakkhayogga½ karont²ti sabb±ni t±ni paµikkhipi. Atha na½ bahig±me vivittok±se patiµµh±petv± tattha tass± aggay±gubhatt±d²ni haritv± paµijaggi. S± yakkhin² eva½ cintesi– “aya½ me sah±yik± id±ni bah³pak±r±, hand±ha½ kińci paµiguŗa½ karom²”ti. S± “imasmi½ sa½vacchare subbuµµhik± bhavissati, thalaµµh±ne sassa½ karohi, imasmi½ sa½vacchare dubbuµµhik± bhavissati, ninnaµµh±neyeva sassa½ karoh²”ti sah±yik±ya ±roceti. Sesajanehi katasassa½ ati-udakena v± anodakena v± nassati, tass± ativiya sampajjati. Atha na½ sesajan±, “amma, tay± katasassa½ neva accodakena, na anudakena nassati, subbuµµhidubbuµµhibh±va½ ńatv± kamma½ karosi, ki½ nu kho etan”ti pucchi½su. “Amh±ka½ sah±yik± yakkhin² subbuµµhidubbuµµhibh±va½ ±cikkhati, maya½ tass± vacanena thalesu ninnesu sass±ni karoma, tena no sampajjati. Ki½ na passatha? Nibaddha½ amh±ka½ gehato y±gubhatt±d²ni hariyam±n±ni, t±ni etiss± har²yanti, tumhepi etiss± aggay±gubhatt±d²ni haratha, tumh±kampi kammante olokessat²”ti.
