Sabbad±nanti ima½ dhammadesana½ satth± jetavane viharanto sakka½ devar±j±na½ ±rabbha kathesi.
Ekasmiñhi samaye t±vati½sadevaloke devat± sannipatitv± catt±ro pañhe samuµµh±pesu½ “katara½ d±na½ nu kho d±nesu, kataro raso rasesu, katar± rati rat²su jeµµhak±, taºhakkhayova kasm± jeµµhakoti vuccat²”ti? Te pañhe ek± devat±pi vinicchitu½ n±sakkhi. Eko pana devo eka½ deva½, sopi aparanti eva½ aññamañña½ pucchant± dasasu cakkav±¼asahassesu dv±dasa sa½vacchar±ni vicari½su. Ettaken±pi k±lena pañh±na½ attha½ adisv± dasasahassacakkav±¼adevat± sannipatitv± catunna½ mah±r±j±na½ santika½ gantv± “ki½, t±t±, mah±devat±sannip±to”ti vutte “catt±ro pañhe samuµµh±petv± vinicchitu½ asakkont± tumh±ka½ santika½ ±gatamh±”ti. “Ki½ pañha½ n±meta½, t±t±”ti. “D±narasarat²su katam± d±narasarat² nu kho seµµh±, taºhakkhayova kasm± seµµho”ti ime pañhe vinicchitu½ asakkont± ±gatamh±ti. Satth± “s±dhu mah±r±ja, may± hi p±ramiyo p³retv± mah±paricc±ge pariccajitv± tumh±dis±na½ kaªkhacchedanatthameva sabbaññutaññ±ºa½ paµividdha½, tay± pucchitapañhesu hi sabbad±n±na½ dhammad±na½ seµµha½, sabbaras±na½ dhammaraso seµµho, sabbarat²na½ dhammarati seµµh±, taºhakkhayo pana arahatta½ samp±pakatt± seµµhoyev±”ti vatv± ima½ g±tham±ha–

sabbarasa½ dhammaraso jin±ti;
sabbarati½ dhammarati jin±ti,
taºhakkhayo sabbadukkha½ jin±t²”ti.
Tattha sabbad±na½ dhammad±nanti sacepi hi cakkav±¼agabbhe y±va brahmalok± nirantara½ katv± sannisinn±na½ buddhapaccekabuddhakh²º±sav±na½ kadaligabbhasadis±ni c²var±ni dadeyya, tasmi½ sam±game catuppadik±ya g±th±ya kat±numodan±va seµµh±. Tañhi d±na½ tass± g±th±ya so¼asi½ kala½ n±gghati. Eva½ dhammassa desan±pi v±canampi savanampi mahanta½. Yena ca puggalena bah³na½ ta½ dhammassavana½ k±rita½, tasseva ±nisa½so mah±. Tath±r³p±ya eva paris±ya paº²tapiº¹ap±tassa patte p³retv± dinnad±natopi sappitel±d²na½ patte p³retv± dinnabhesajjad±natopi mah±vih±rasadis±na½ vih±r±nañca lohap±s±dasadis±nañca p±s±d±na½ anek±ni satasahass±ni k±retv± dinnasen±sanad±natopi an±thapiº¹ik±d²hi vih±re ±rabbha kataparicc±gatopi antamaso catuppadik±ya g±th±ya anumodan±vasen±pi pavattita½ dhammad±nameva vara½ seµµha½. Ki½ k±raº±? Evar³p±ni hi puññ±ni karont± dhamma½ sutv±va karonti, no asutv±. Sace hi ime satt± dhamma½ na suºeyyu½, u¼uªkamatta½ y±gumpi kaµacchumatta½ bhattampi na dadeyyu½. Imin± k±raºena sabbad±nehi dhammad±nameva seµµha½. Apica µhapetv± buddhe ca paccekabuddhe ca sakalakappa½ deve vassante udakabind³ni gaºetu½ samatth±ya paññ±ya samann±gat± s±riputt±dayopi attano dhammat±ya sot±pattiphal±d²ni adhigantu½ n±sakkhi½su, assajitther±d²hi kathitadhamma½ sutv± sot±pattiphala½ sacchikari½su, satthu dhammadesan±ya s±vakap±ram²ñ±ºa½ sacchikari½su. Imin±pi k±raºena, mah±r±ja, dhammad±nameva seµµha½. Tena vutta½– “sabbad±na½ dhammad±na½ jin±t²”ti.
Sabbe pana gandharas±dayopi ras± ukka½sato devat±na½ sudh±bhojanarasopi sa½s±ravaµµe p±tetv± dukkh±nubhavanasseva paccayo. Yo panesa sattati½sabodhipakkhiyadhammasaªkh±to ca navalokuttaradhammasaªkh±to ca dhammaraso, ayameva sabbaras±na½ seµµho. Tena vutta½– “sabbarasa½ dhammaraso jin±t²”ti Y±pes± puttaratidh²turatidhanarati-itthiratinaccag²tav±dit±diratipabhed± ca anekappabhed± rat², s±pi sa½s±ravaµµe p±tetv± dukkh±nubhavanasseva paccayo. Y± panes± dhamma½ kathentassa v± suºantassa v± v±centassa v± anto uppajjam±n± p²ti udaggabh±va½ janeti, ass³ni pavatteti, lomaha½sa½ janeti, s±ya½ sa½s±ravaµµassa anta½ katv± arahattapariyos±n± hoti. Tasm± sabbarat²na½ evar³p± dhammaratiyeva seµµh±. Tena vutta½– “sabbarati½ dhammarati jin±t²”ti taºhakkhayo pana taºh±ya khayante uppanna½ arahatta½ sakalassapi vaµµadukkhassa abhibhavanato sabbaseµµhameva. Tena vutta½– “taºhakkhayo sabbadukkha½ jin±t²”ti.
Eva½ satthari imiss± g±th±ya attha½ kathenteyeva catur±s²tiy± p±ºasahass±na½ dhamm±bhisamayo ahosi. Sakkopi satthu dhammakatha½ sutv± satth±ra½ vanditv± evam±ha– “bhante, eva½jeµµhake n±ma dhammad±ne kimattha½ amh±ka½ patti½ na d±petha, ito paµµh±ya no bhikkhusaªghassa kathetv± patti½ d±petha, bhante”ti. Satth± tassa vacana½ sutv± bhikkhusaªgha½ sannip±tetv±, “bhikkhave, ajj±di½ katv± mah±dhammassavana½ v± p±katikadhammassavana½ v± upanisinnakatha½ v± antamaso anumodanampi kathetv± sabbasatt±na½ patti½ dadeyy±th±”ti ±ha.
