Tesu ekekassa pañca pañca up±sakasat±ni pariv±r±. Yo tesa½ jeµµhako, tassa satta putt± satta dh²taro. Tesu ekekassa ekek± sal±kay±gu sal±kabhatta½ pakkhikabhatta½ nimantanabhatta½ uposathikabhatta½ ±gantukabhatta½ saªghabhatta½ vass±v±sika½ ahosi. Tepi sabbeva anuj±taputt± n±ma ahesu½. Iti cuddasanna½ putt±na½ bhariy±ya up±sakass±ti so¼asa sal±kay±gu-±d²ni pavattanti. Iti so saputtad±ro s²lav± kaly±ºadhammo d±nasa½vibh±garato ahosi. Athassa aparabh±ge rogo uppajji, ±yusaªkh±ro parih±yi. So dhamma½ sotuk±mo “aµµha v± me so¼asa v± bhikkh³ peseth±”ti satthu santika½ pahiºi. Satth± pesesi. Te gantv± tassa mañca½ pariv±retv± paññattesu ±sanesu nisinn±. “Bhante, ayy±na½ me dassana½ dullabha½ bhavissati, dubbalomhi, eka½ me sutta½ sajjh±yath±”ti vutte “katara½ sutta½ sotuk±mo up±sak±”ti? “Sabbabuddh±na½ avijahita½ satipaµµh±nasuttan”ti vutte– “ek±yano aya½, bhikkhave, maggo satt±na½ visuddhiy±”ti (d². ni. 2.373; ma. ni. 1.106) suttanta½ paµµhapesu½. Tasmi½ khaºe chahi devalokehi sabb±laªk±rapaµimaº¹it± sahassasindhavayutt± diya¹¹hayojanasatik± cha rath± ±gami½su. Tesu µhit± devat± “amh±ka½ devaloka½ ness±ma, amh±ka½ devaloka½ ness±ma, ambho mattikabh±jana½ bhinditv± suvaººabh±jana½ gaºhanto viya amh±ka½ devaloke abhiramitu½ idha nibbatt±hi, amh±ka½ devaloke abhiramitu½ idha nibbatt±h²”ti vadi½su. Up±sako dhammassavanantar±ya½ anicchanto– “±gametha ±gameth±”ti ±ha. Bhikkh³ “amhe v±ret²”ti saññ±ya tuºh² ahesu½. Athassa puttadh²taro “amh±ka½ pit± pubbe dhammassavanena atitto ahosi, id±ni pana bhikkh³ pakkos±petv± sajjh±ya½ k±retv± sayameva v±reti, maraºassa abh±yanakasatto n±ma natth²”ti viravi½su. Bhikkh³ “id±ni anok±so”ti uµµh±y±san± pakkami½su. Up±sako thoka½ v²tin±metv± sati½ paµilabhitv± putte pucchi– “kasm± kandath±”ti? “T±ta, tumhe bhikkh³ pakkos±petv± dhamma½ suºant± sayameva v±rayittha, atha maya½ ‘maraºassa abh±yanakasatto n±ma natth²’ti kandimh±”ti “Ayy± pana kuhin”ti? “‘Anok±so’ti uµµh±y±san± pakkant±, t±t±”ti. “N±ha½, ayyehi saddhi½ kathem²”ti vutte “atha kena saddhi½ katheth±”ti. “Chahi devalokehi devat± cha rathe alaªkaritv± ±d±ya ±k±se µhatv± ‘amh±hi devaloke abhirama, amh±ka½ devaloke abhiram±’ti sadda½ karonti, t±hi saddhi½ kathem²”ti. “Kuhi½, t±ta, rath±, na maya½ pass±m±”ti? “Atthi pana mayha½ ganthit±ni pupph±n²”ti? “Atthi, t±t±”ti. “Kataro devaloko ramaº²yo”ti? “Sabbabodhisatt±na½ buddham±t±pit³nañca vasitaµµh±na½ tusitabhavana½ ramaº²ya½, t±t±”ti. “Tena hi ‘tusitabhavanato ±gatarathe laggat³’ti pupphad±ma½ khipath±”ti. Up±sako “passatheta½ pupphad±man”ti vatv±, “±ma, pass±m±”ti vutte– “eta½ tusitabhavanato ±gatarathe olambati, aha½ tusitabhavana½ gacch±mi tumhe m± cintayittha, mama santike nibbattituk±m± hutv± may± kataniy±meneva puññ±ni karoth±”ti vatv± k±la½ katv± rathe patiµµh±si. T±vadevassa tig±vutappam±ºo saµµhisakaµabh±r±laªk±rapaµimaº¹ito attabh±vo nibbatti, acchar±sahassa½ pariv±resi, pañcav²satiyojanika½ kanakavim±na½ p±turahosi. Tepi bhikkh³ vih±ra½ anuppatte satth± pucchi– “sut±, bhikkhave, up±sakena dhammadesan±”ti? “¾ma, bhante, antar±yeva pana ‘±gameth±’ti v±resi. Athassa puttadh²taro kandi½su Maya½ ‘id±ni anok±so’ti uµµh±y±san± nikkhant±”ti. “Na so, bhikkhave, tumhehi saddhi½ kathesi, chahi devalokehi devat± cha rathe alaªkaritv± ±haritv± ta½ up±saka½ pakkosi½su. So dhammadesan±ya antar±ya½ anicchanto t±hi saddhi½ kathes²”ti. “Eva½, bhante”ti. “Eva½, bhikkhave”ti. “Id±ni kuhi½ nibbatto”ti? “Tusitabhavane, bhikkhave”ti. “Bhante, id±ni idha ñ±timajjhe modam±no vicaritv± id±neva gantv± puna modanaµµh±neyeva nibbatto”ti. “¾ma, bhikkhave, appamatt± hi gahaµµh± v± pabbajit± v± sabbattha modantiyev±”ti vatv± ima½ g±tham±ha– 16. “Idha modati pecca modati,
katapuñño ubhayattha modati;
so modati so pamodati,
disv± kammavisuddhimattano”ti.
Tattha katapuññoti n±nappak±rassa kusalassa k±rako puggalo “akata½ vata me p±pa½, kata½ me kaly±ºan”ti idha kammamodanena, pecca vip±kamodanena modati. Eva½ ubhayattha modati n±ma. Kammavisuddhinti dhammika-up±sakopi attano kammavisuddhi½ puññakammasampatti½ disv± k±lakiriyato pubbe idhalokepi modati, k±la½ katv± id±ni paralokepi atimodatiyev±ti. G±th±pariyos±ne bah³ sot±pann±dayo ahesu½ mah±janassa s±tthik± dhammadesan± j±t±ti.
