Yo appaduµµhass±ti ima½ dhammadesana½ satth± jetavane viharanto koka½ n±ma sunakhaluddaka½ ±rabbha kathesi.
So kira ekadivasa½ pubbaŗhasamaye dhanu½ ±d±ya sunakhaparivuto arańńa½ gacchanto antar±magge eka½ piŗ¹±ya pavisanta½ bhikkhu½ disv± kujjhitv± “k±¼akaŗŗi me diµµho, ajja kińci na labhiss±m²”ti cintetv± pakk±mi. Theropi g±me piŗ¹±ya caritv± katabhattakicco puna vih±ra½ p±y±si. Itaropi arańńe vicaritv± kińci alabhitv± pacc±gacchanto puna thera½ disv± “ajj±ha½ ima½ k±¼akaŗŗi½ disv± arańńa½ gato kińci na labhi½, id±ni me punapi abhimukho j±to, sunakhehi na½ kh±d±pess±m²”ti sańńa½ datv± sunakhe vissajjesi. Theropi “m± eva½ kari up±sak±”ti y±ci. So “ajj±ha½ tava sammukh²bh³tatt± kińci n±lattha½, punapi me sammukh²bh±vam±gatosi, kh±d±pess±meva tan”ti vatv± sunakhe uyyojesi. Thero vegena eka½ rukkha½ abhiruhitv± purisappam±ŗe µh±ne nis²di. Sunakh± rukkha½ pariv±resu½. Luddako gantv± “rukkha½ abhiruhatopi te mokkho natth²”ti ta½ saratuŗ¹ena p±datale vijjhi. Thero “m± eva½ karoh²”ti ta½ y±ciyeva. Itaro tassa y±cana½ an±diyitv± punappuna½ vijjhiyeva. Thero ekasmi½ p±datale vijjhiyam±ne ta½ ukkhipitv± dutiya½ p±da½ olambitv± tasmi½ vijjhiyam±ne tampi ukkhipati, evamassa so y±cana½ an±diyitv±va dvepi p±datal±ni vijjhiyeva. Therassa sar²ra½ ukk±hi ±ditta½ viya ahosi. So vedan±nuvattiko hutv± sati½ paccupaµµh±petu½ n±sakkhi, p±rutac²vara½ bhassantampi na sallakkhesi. Ta½ patam±na½ koka½ s²sato paµµh±ya parikkhipantameva pati. Sunakh± “thero patito”ti sańń±ya c²varantara½ pavisitv± attano s±mika½ luńjitv± kh±dant± aµµhimatt±vasesa½ kari½su. Sunakh± c²varantarato nikkhamitv± bahi aµµha½su.
Atha nesa½ thero eka½ sukkhadaŗ¹aka½ bhańjitv± khipi. Sunakh± thera½ disv± “s±mikova amhehi kh±dito”ti ńatv± arańńa½ pavisi½su. Thero kukkucca½ upp±desi “mama c²varantara½ pavisitv± esa naµµho, aroga½ nu kho me s²lan”ti. So rukkh± otaritv± satthu santika½ gantv± ±dito paµµh±ya sabba½ ta½ pavatti½ ±rocetv±– “bhante, mama c²vara½ niss±ya so up±sako naµµho, kacci me aroga½ s²la½, atthi me samaŗabh±vo”ti pucchi. Satth± tassa vacana½ sutv± “bhikkhu aroga½ te s²la½, atthi te samaŗabh±vo, so appaduµµhassa padussitv± vin±sa½ patto, na kevalańca id±neva, at²tepi appaduµµh±na½ padussitv± vin±sa½ pattoyev±”ti vatv± tamattha½ pak±sento at²ta½ ±hari–
At²te kireko vejjo vejjakammatth±ya g±ma½ vicaritv± kińci kamma½ alabhitv± ch±tajjhatto nikkhamitv± g±madv±re sambahule kum±rake k²¼ante disv± “ime sappena ¹a½s±petv± tikicchitv± ±h±ra½ labhiss±m²”ti ekasmi½ rukkhabile s²sa½ niharitv± nipanna½ sappa½ dassetv±, “ambho, kum±rak± eso s±¼ikapotako, gaŗhatha nan”ti ±ha. Atheko kum±rako sappa½ g²v±ya½ da¼ha½ gahetv± n²haritv± tassa sappabh±va½ ńatv± viravanto avid³re µhitassa vejjassa matthake khipi. Sappo vejjassa khandhaµµhika½ parikkhipitv± da¼ha½ ¹a½sitv± tattheva j²vitakkhaya½ p±pesi, evamesa koko sunakhaluddako pubbepi appaduµµhassa padussitv± vin±sa½ pattoyev±ti.
Satth± ima½ at²ta½ ±haritv± anusandhi½ ghaµetv± dhamma½ desento ima½ g±tham±ha–
125. “Yo appaduµµhassa narassa dussati, suddhassa posassa anaŖgaŗassa;
tameva b±la½ pacceti p±pa½, sukhumo rajo paµiv±ta½va khitto”ti.
Tattha appaduµµhass±ti attano v± sabbasatt±na½ v± aduµµhassa. Narass±ti sattassa. Dussat²ti aparajjhati. Suddhass±ti nirapar±dhasseva. Posass±ti idampi aparen±k±rena satt±dhivacanameva. AnaŖgaŗass±ti nikkilesassa. Paccet²ti pati-eti. Paµiv±tanti yath± ekena purisena paµiv±te µhita½ paharituk±mat±ya khitto sukhumo rajoti tameva purisa½ pacceti, tasseva upari patati, evameva yo puggalo apaduµµhassa purisassa p±ŗippahar±d²ni dadanto padussati, tameva b±la½ diµµheva dhamme, sampar±ye v± niray±d²su vipaccam±na½ ta½ p±pa½ vip±kadukkhavasena paccet²ti attho.
Desan±vas±ne so bhikkhu arahatte patiµµhahi, sampattaparis±yapi s±tthik± dhammadesan± ahos²ti.
