V±ºijov±ti ima½ dhammadesana½ satth± jetavane viharanto mah±dhanav±ºija½ ±rabbha kathesi. Tassa kira v±ºijassa gehe pañcasat± cor± ot±ra½ gavesam±n± ot±ra½ na labhi½su. Aparena samayena v±ºijo pañca sakaµasat±ni bhaº¹assa p³retv± bhikkh³na½ ±roc±pesi– “aha½ asukaµµh±na½ n±ma v±ºijjatth±ya gacch±mi, ye, ayy±, ta½ µh±na½ gantuk±m±, te nikkhamantu, magge bhikkh±ya na kilamissant²”ti. Ta½ sutv± pañcasat± bhikkh³ tena saddhi½ magga½ paµipajji½su. Tepi cor± “so kira v±ºijo nikkhanto”ti gantv± aµaviya½ aµµha½su. V±ºijopi gantv± aµavimukhe ekasmi½ g±me v±sa½ katv± dve tayopi divase goºasakaµ±d²ni sa½vidahi, tesa½ pana bhikkh³na½ nibaddha½ bhikkha½ detiyeva. Cor± tasmi½ aticir±yante “gaccha, tassa nikkhamanadivasa½ ñatv± eh²”ti eka½ purisa½ pahiºi½su. So ta½ g±ma½ gantv± eka½ sah±yaka½ pucchi– “kad± v±ºijo nikkhamissat²”ti. So “dv²hat²haccayen±”ti vatv± “kimattha½ pana pucchas²”ti ±ha. Athassa so “maya½ pañcasat± cor± etassatth±ya aµaviya½ µhit±”ti ±cikkhi. Itaro “tena hi gaccha, s²gha½ nikkhamissat²”ti ta½ uyyojetv±, “ki½ nu kho core v±remi, ud±hu v±ºijan”ti cintetv±, “ki½ me corehi, v±ºija½ niss±ya pañcasat± bhikkh³ j²vanti, v±ºijassa sañña½ dass±m²”ti so tassa santika½ gantv± “kad± gamissath±”ti pucchitv± “tatiyadivase”ti vutte mayha½ vacana½ karotha, aµaviya½ kira tumh±ka½ atth±ya pañcasat± cor± µhit±, m± t±va gamitth±ti. Tva½ katha½ j±n±s²ti? Tesa½ antare mama sah±yo atthi, tassa me kath±ya ñ±tanti. “Tena hi ‘ki½ me etto gaten±’ti nivattitv± gehameva gamiss±m²”ti ±ha. Tasmi½ cir±yante puna tehi corehi pesito puriso ±gantv± ta½ sah±yaka½ pucchitv± ta½ pavatti½ sutv± “nivattitv± gehameva kira gamissat²”ti gantv± cor±na½ ±rocesi. Ta½ sutv± cor± tato nikkhamitv± itarasmi½ magge aµµha½su, tasmi½ cirayante punapi te cor± tassa santika½ purisa½ pesesu½. So tesa½ tattha µhitabh±va½ ñatv± puna v±ºijassa ±rocesi. V±ºijo “idh±pi me vekalla½ natthi, eva½ sante neva etto gamiss±mi, na ito, idheva bhaviss±m²”ti bhikkh³na½ santika½ gantv± ±ha– “bhante, cor± kira ma½ vilumpituk±m± magge µhit±, ‘puna nivattissat²’ti sutv± itarasmi½ magge µhit±, aha½ etto v± ito v± agantv± thoka½ idheva bhaviss±mi, bhadant± idheva vasituk±m± vasantu, gantuk±m± attano ruci½ karont³”ti. Bhikkh³ “eva½ sante maya½ nivattiss±m±”ti v±ºija½ ±pucchitv± punadeva s±vatthi½ gantv± satth±ra½ vanditv± nis²di½su. Satth± “ki½, bhikkhave, mah±dhanav±ºijena saddhi½ na gamitth±”ti pucchitv± “±ma, bhante, mah±dhanav±ºijassa vilumpanatth±ya dv²supi maggesu cor± pariyuµµhi½su, tena so tattheva µhito, maya½ pana ta½ ±pucchitv± ±gat±”ti vutte, “bhikkhave, mah±dhanav±ºijo cor±na½ atthit±ya magga½ parivajjati, j²vituk±mo viya puriso hal±hala½ visa½ parivajjeti, bhikkhun±pi ‘tayo bhav± corehi pariyuµµhitamaggasadis±’ti ñatv± p±pa½ parivajjetu½ vaµµat²”ti vatv± anusandhi½ ghaµetv± dhamma½ desento ima½ g±tham±ha– 123. “V±ºijova bhaya½ magga½, appasattho mahaddhano;
visa½ j²vituk±mova, p±p±ni parivajjaye”ti.
Tattha bhayanti bh±yitabba½, corehi pariyuµµhitatt± sappaµibhayanti attho. Ida½ vutta½ hoti– yath± mah±dhanav±ºijo appasattho sappaµibhaya½ magga½, yath± ca j²vituk±mo hal±hala½ visa½ parivajjeti, eva½ paº¹ito bhikkhu appamattak±nipi p±p±ni parivajjeyy±ti. Desan±vas±ne te bhikkh³ saha paµisambhid±hi arahatta½ p±puºi½su, sampattamah±janass±pi s±tthik± dhammadesan± ahos²ti.
