11. [P±r±. 1 ±dayo] eva½ me suta½– eka½ samaya½ bhagav± verañj±ya½ viharati na¼erupucimandam³le. Atha kho verañjo br±hmaºo yena bhagav± tenupasaªkami; upasaªkamitv± bhagavat± saddhi½ sammodi. Sammodan²ya½ katha½ s±raº²ya½ [s±r±º²ya½ (s². sy±. ka½. p².)] v²tis±retv± ekamanta½ nis²di. Ekamanta½ nisinno kho verañjo br±hmaºo bhagavanta½ etadavoca–
“Suta½ meta½, bho gotama– ‘na samaºo gotamo br±hmaºe jiººe vu¹¹he mahallake addhagate vayo-anuppatte abhiv±deti v± paccuµµheti v± ±sanena v± nimantet²’ti. Tayida½, bho gotama, tatheva. Na hi bhava½ gotamo br±hmaºe jiººe vu¹¹he mahallake addhagate vayo-anuppatte abhiv±deti v± paccuµµheti v± ±sanena v± nimanteti. Tayida½, bho gotama, na sampannamev±”ti. “N±ha½ ta½, br±hmaºa, pass±mi sadevake loke sam±rake sabrahmake sassamaºabr±hmaºiy± paj±ya sadevamanuss±ya yamaha½ abhiv±deyya½ v± paccuµµheyya½ v± ±sanena v± nimanteyya½. Yañhi, br±hmaºa, tath±gato abhiv±deyya v± paccuµµheyya v± ±sanena v± nimanteyya, muddh±pi tassa vipateyy±”ti.
“Arasar³po bhava½ gotamo”ti! “Atthi khvesa, br±hmaºa, pariy±yo, yena ma½ pariy±yena samm± vadam±no vadeyya– ‘arasar³po samaºo gotamo’ti. Ye te, br±hmaºa, r³paras± saddaras± gandharas± rasaras± phoµµhabbaras±, te tath±gatassa pah²n± ucchinnam³l± t±l±vatthukat± anabh±va½kat± [anabh±vakat± (s². p².)] ±yati½ anupp±dadhamm±. Aya½ kho, br±hmaºa, pariy±yo, yena ma½ pariy±yena samm± vadam±no vadeyya– ‘arasar³po samaºo gotamo’ti, no ca kho ya½ tva½ sandh±ya vades²”ti [vadesi (s². ka.)].
“Nibbhogo bhava½ gotamo”ti! “Atthi khvesa, br±hmaºa, pariy±yo, yena ma½ pariy±yena samm± vadam±no vadeyya– ‘nibbhogo samaºo gotamo’ti. Ye te, br±hmaºa, r³pabhog± saddabhog± gandhabhog± rasabhog± phoµµhabbabhog±, te tath±gatassa pah²n± ucchinnam³l± t±l±vatthukat± anabh±va½kat± ±yati½ anupp±dadhamm±. Aya½ kho, br±hmaºa, pariy±yo, yena ma½ pariy±yena samm± vadam±no vadeyya– ‘nibbhogo samaºo gotamo’ti, no ca kho ya½ tva½ sandh±ya vades²”ti.
“Akiriyav±do bhava½ gotamo”ti! “Atthi khvesa, br±hmaºa, pariy±yo, yena ma½ pariy±yena samm± vadam±no vadeyya– ‘akiriyav±do samaºo gotamo’ti. Ahañhi, br±hmaºa, akiriya½ vad±mi k±yaduccaritassa vac²duccaritassa manoduccaritassa; anekavihit±na½ p±pak±na½ akusal±na½ dhamm±na½ akiriya½ vad±mi. Aya½ kho, br±hmaºa, pariy±yo, yena ma½ pariy±yena samm± vadam±no vadeyya– ‘akiriyav±do samaºo gotamo’ti, no ca kho ya½ tva½ sandh±ya vades²”ti.
“Ucchedav±do bhava½ gotamo”ti! “Atthi khvesa, br±hmaºa, pariy±yo, yena ma½ pariy±yena samm± vadam±no vadeyya– ‘ucchedav±do samaºo gotamo’ti. Ahañhi, br±hmaºa, uccheda½ vad±mi r±gassa dosassa mohassa; anekavihit±na½ p±pak±na½ akusal±na½ dhamm±na½ uccheda½ vad±mi. Aya½ kho, br±hmaºa, pariy±yo, yena ma½ pariy±yena samm± vadam±no vadeyya– ‘ucchedav±do samaºo gotamo’ti, no ca kho ya½ tva½ sandh±ya vades²”ti.
“Jegucch² bhava½ gotamo”ti! “Atthi khvesa, br±hmaºa, pariy±yo, yena ma½ pariy±yena samm± vadam±no vadeyya– ‘jegucch² samaºo gotamo’ti. Ahañhi, br±hmaºa, jigucch±mi k±yaduccaritena vac²duccaritena manoduccaritena; jigucch±mi anekavihit±na½ p±pak±na½ akusal±na½ dhamm±na½ sam±pattiy±. Aya½ kho, br±hmaºa, pariy±yo, yena ma½ pariy±yena samm± vadam±no vadeyya– ‘jegucch² samaºo gotamo’ti, no ca kho ya½ tva½ sandh±ya vades²”ti.
“Venayiko bhava½ gotamo”ti! “Atthi khvesa, br±hmaºa, pariy±yo, yena ma½ pariy±yena samm± vadam±no vadeyya– ‘venayiko samaºo gotamo’ti. Ahañhi, br±hmaºa, vinay±ya dhamma½ desemi r±gassa dosassa mohassa; anekavihit±na½ p±pak±na½ akusal±na½ dhamm±na½ vinay±ya dhamma½ desemi. Aya½ kho, br±hmaºa, pariy±yo, yena ma½ pariy±yena samm± vadam±no vadeyya– ‘venayiko samaºo gotamo’ti, no ca kho ya½ tva½ sandh±ya vades²”ti.
“Tapass² bhava½ gotamo”ti! “Atthi khvesa, br±hmaºa, pariy±yo, yena ma½ pariy±yena samm± vadam±no vadeyya– ‘tapass² samaºo gotamo’ti. Tapan²y±ha½ br±hmaºa, p±pake akusale dhamme vad±mi k±yaduccarita½ vac²duccarita½ manoduccarita½. Yassa kho, br±hmaºa, tapan²y± p±pak± akusal± dhamm± pah²n± ucchinnam³l± t±l±vatthukat± anabh±va½kat± ±yati½ anupp±dadhamm±, tamaha½ ‘tapass²’ti vad±mi. Tath±gatassa kho, br±hmaºa, tapan²y± p±pak± akusal± dhamm± pah²n± ucchinnam³l± t±l±vatthukat± anabh±va½kat± ±yati½ anupp±dadhamm±. Aya½ kho, br±hmaºa, pariy±yo, yena ma½ pariy±yena samm± vadam±no vadeyya– ‘tapass² samaºo gotamo’ti, no ca kho ya½ tva½ sandh±ya vades²”ti.
“Apagabbho bhava½ gotamo”ti! “Atthi khvesa, br±hmaºa, pariy±yo, yena ma½ pariy±yena samm± vadam±no vadeyya– ‘apagabbho samaºo gotamo’ti. Yassa kho, br±hmaºa, ±yati½ gabbhaseyy± punabbhav±bhinibbatti pah²n± ucchinnam³l± t±l±vatthukat± anabh±va½kat± ±yati½ anupp±dadhamm± tamaha½ ‘apagabbho’ti vad±mi. Tath±gatassa kho, br±hmaºa ±yati½ gabbhaseyy± punabbhav±bhinibbatti pah²n± ucchinnam³l± t±l±vatthukat± anabh±va½kat± ±yati½ anupp±dadhamm±. Aya½ kho, br±hmaºa, pariy±yo, yena ma½ pariy±yena samm± vadam±no vadeyya– ‘apagabbho samaºo gotamo’ti, no ca kho ya½ tva½ sandh±ya vadesi.
“Seyyath±pi, br±hmaºa, kukkuµiy± aº¹±ni aµµha v± dasa v± dv±dasa v±. T±n±ssu kukkuµiy± samm± adhisayit±ni samm± parisedit±ni samm± paribh±vit±ni. Yo nu kho tesa½ kukkuµacch±pak±na½ paµhamatara½ p±danakhasikh±ya v± mukhatuº¹akena v± aº¹akosa½ pad±letv± sotthin± abhinibbhijjeyya, kinti sv±ssa vacan²yo– ‘jeµµho v± kaniµµho v±”’ti? “Jeµµho tissa, bho gotama, vacan²yo. So hi nesa½, bho gotama, jeµµho hot²”ti.
“Evameva½ kho aha½, br±hmaºa, avijj±gat±ya paj±ya aº¹abh³t±ya pariyonaddh±ya avijjaº¹akosa½ pad±letv± ekova loke anuttara½ samm±sambodhi½ abhisambuddho. Ahañhi, br±hmaºa jeµµho seµµho lokassa. ¾raddha½ kho pana me, br±hmaºa, v²riya½ ahosi asall²na½, upaµµhit± sati asammuµµh±, passaddho k±yo as±raddho, sam±hita½ citta½ ekagga½.
“So kho aha½, br±hmaºa, vivicceva k±mehi vivicca akusalehi dhammehi savitakka½ savic±ra½ vivekaja½ p²tisukha½ paµhama½ jh±na½ upasampajja vihar±mi; vitakkavic±r±na½ v³pasam± ajjhatta½ sampas±dana½ cetaso ekodibh±va½ avitakka½ avic±ra½ sam±dhija½ p²tisukha½ dutiya½ jh±na½ upasampajja vihar±mi; p²tiy± ca vir±g± upekkhako ca vihar±mi sato ca sampaj±no sukhañca k±yena paµisa½vedemi ya½ ta½ ariy± ±cikkhanti– ‘upekkhako satim± sukhavih±r²’ti tatiya½ jh±na½ upasampajja vihar±mi; sukhassa ca pah±n± dukkhassa ca pah±n± pubbeva somanassadomanass±na½ atthaªgam± adukkhamasukha½ upekkh±satip±risuddhi½ catuttha½ jh±na½ upasampajja vihar±mi.
“So eva½ sam±hite citte parisuddhe pariyod±te anaªgaºe vigat³pakkilese mudubh³te kammaniye µhite ±neñjappatte pubbeniv±s±nussatiñ±º±ya citta½ abhininn±mesi½. So anekavihita½ pubbeniv±sa½ anussar±mi, seyyathida½– ekampi j±ti½ dvepi j±tiyo tissopi j±tiyo catassopi j±tiyo pañcapi j±tiyo dasapi j±tiyo v²sampi j±tiyo ti½sampi j±tiyo catt±l²sampi j±tiyo paññ±sampi j±tiyo j±tisatampi j±tisahassampi j±tisatasahassampi anekepi sa½vaµµakappe anekepi vivaµµakappe anekepi sa½vaµµavivaµµakappe– ‘amutr±si½ eva½n±mo eva½gotto eva½vaººo evam±h±ro eva½sukhadukkhappaµisa½ved² evam±yupariyanto. So tato cuto amutra udap±di½; tatr±p±si½ eva½n±mo eva½gotto eva½vaººo evam±h±ro eva½sukhadukkhappaµisa½ved² evam±yupariyanto. So tato cuto idh³papanno’ti. Iti s±k±ra½ sa-uddesa½ anekavihita½ pubbeniv±sa½ anussar±mi.
“Aya½ kho me, br±hmaºa, rattiy± paµhame y±me paµham± vijj± adhigat±; avijj± vihat± vijj± uppann±; tamo vihato ±loko uppanno, yath± ta½ appamattassa ±t±pino pahitattassa viharato. Aya½ kho me, br±hmaºa, paµham± abhinibbhid± ahosi kukkuµacch±pakasseva aº¹akosamh±.
“So eva½ sam±hite citte parisuddhe pariyod±te anaªgaºe vigat³pakkilese mudubh³te kammaniye µhite ±neñjappatte satt±na½ cut³pap±tañ±º±ya citta½ abhininn±mesi½. So dibbena cakkhun± visuddhena atikkantam±nusakena satte pass±mi cavam±ne upapajjam±ne h²ne paº²te suvaººe dubbaººe, sugate duggate yath±kamm³page satte paj±n±mi– ‘ime vata bhonto satt± k±yaduccaritena samann±gat±, vac²duccaritena samann±gat±, manoduccaritena samann±gat±, ariy±na½ upav±dak±, micch±diµµhik±, micch±diµµhikammasam±d±n±. Te k±yassa bhed± para½ maraº± ap±ya½ duggati½ vinip±ta½ niraya½ upapann±ti. Ime v± pana bhonto satt± k±yasucaritena samann±gat±, vac²sucaritena samann±gat±, manosucaritena samann±gat±, ariy±na½ anupav±dak±, samm±diµµhik±, samm±diµµhikammasam±d±n±. Te k±yassa bhed± para½ maraº± sugati½ sagga½ loka½ upapann±’ti. Iti dibbena cakkhun± visuddhena atikkantam±nusakena satte pass±mi cavam±ne upapajjam±ne h²ne paº²te suvaººe dubbaººe, sugate duggate yath±kamm³page satte paj±n±mi.
“Aya½ kho me, br±hmaºa, rattiy± majjhime y±me dutiy± vijj± adhigat±; avijj± vihat± vijj± uppann±; tamo vihato ±loko uppanno, yath± ta½ appamattassa ±t±pino pahitattassa viharato. Aya½ kho me, br±hmaºa, dutiy± abhinibbhid± ahosi kukkuµacch±pakasseva aº¹akosamh±.
“So eva½ sam±hite citte parisuddhe pariyod±te anaªgaºe vigat³pakkilese mudubh³te kammaniye µhite ±neñjappatte ±sav±na½ khayañ±º±ya citta½ abhininn±mesi½. So ‘ida½ dukkhan’ti yath±bh³ta½ abbhaññ±si½, ‘aya½ dukkhasamudayo’ti yath±bh³ta½ abbhaññ±si½, ‘aya½ dukkhanirodho’ti yath±bh³ta½ abbhaññ±si½, ‘aya½ dukkhanirodhag±min² paµipad±’ti yath±bh³ta½ abbhaññ±si½; ‘ime ±sav±’ti yath±bh³ta½ abbhaññ±si½, ‘aya½ ±savasamudayo’ti yath±bh³ta½ abbhaññ±si½, ‘aya½ ±savanirodho’ti yath±bh³ta½ abbhaññ±si½, ‘aya½ ±savanirodhag±min² paµipad±’ti yath±bh³ta½ abbhaññ±si½. Tassa me eva½ j±nato eva½ passato k±m±sav±pi citta½ vimuccittha, bhav±sav±pi citta½ vimuccittha, avijj±sav±pi citta½ vimuccittha. Vimuttasmi½ vimuttamiti ñ±ºa½ ahosi. ‘Kh²º± j±ti, vusita½ brahmacariya½, kata½ karaº²ya½, n±para½ itthatt±y±’ti abbhaññ±si½.
“Aya½ kho me, br±hmaºa, rattiy± pacchime y±me tatiy± vijj± adhigat±; avijj± vihat± vijj± uppann±; tamo vihato ±loko uppanno yath± ta½ appamattassa ±t±pino pahitattassa viharato. Aya½ kho me, br±hmaºa, tatiy± abhinibbhid± ahosi kukkuµacch±pakasseva aº¹akosamh±”ti.
Eva½ vutte verañjo br±hmaºo bhagavanta½ etadavoca– “jeµµho bhava½ gotamo, seµµho bhava½ gotamo. Abhikkanta½, bho gotama, abhikkanta½, bho gotama! Seyyath±pi, bho gotama, nikkujjita½ [nikujjita½ (ka.)] v± ukkujjeyya, paµicchanna½ v± vivareyya, m³¼hassa v± magga½ ±cikkheyya, andhak±re v± telapajjota½ dh±reyya– cakkhumanto r³p±ni dakkhant²ti; evameva½ bhot± gotamena anekapariy±yena dhammo pak±sito. Es±ha½ bhavanta½ gotama½ saraºa½ gacch±mi dhammañca bhikkhusaªghañca. Up±saka½ ma½ bhava½ gotamo dh±retu ajjatagge p±ºupeta½ saraºa½ gatan”ti. Paµhama½.
