Ye pana tattha bhikkh³ nav± acirapabbajit± adhun±gat± ima½ dhammavinaya½ te y±va s³riyuggaman± k±kaccham±n± supi½su. Addas± kho bhagav± dibbena cakkhun± visuddhena atikkantam±nusakena te bhikkh³ y±va s³riyuggaman± k±kaccham±ne supante. Disv± yenupaµµh±nas±l± tenupasaªkami; upasaªkamitv± paññatte ±sane nis²di. Nisajja kho bhagav± bhikkh³ ±mantesi–
“Kaha½ nu kho, bhikkhave, s±riputto? Kaha½ mah±moggall±no? Kaha½ mah±kassapo? Kaha½ mah±kacc±yano? Kaha½ mah±koµµhiko? Kaha½ mah±cundo? Kaha½ mah±kappino? Kaha½ anuruddho? Kaha½ revato? Kaha½ ±nando? Kaha½ nu kho te, bhikkhave, ther± s±vak± gat±”ti? “Tepi kho, bhante, ±yasmanto acirapakkantassa bhagavato uµµh±y±san± yath±vih±ra½ agama½s³”ti. “Kena no [kena no (ka.), ke nu (katthaci)] tumhe, bhikkhave, ther± bhikkh³ n±gat±ti [bhikkh³ nav± (s². sy±. ka½. p².), bhikkh³ gat±ti (?)] Y±va s³riyuggaman± k±kaccham±n± supatha? Ta½ ki½ maññatha, bhikkhave, api nu tumhehi diµµha½ v± suta½ v±– ‘r±j± khattiyo muddh±bhisitto [muddh±bhisitto (ka.)] y±vadattha½ seyyasukha½ passasukha½ middhasukha½ anuyutto viharanto y±vaj²va½ rajja½ k±rento janapadassa v± piyo man±po”’ti? “No heta½, bhante”. “S±dhu, bhikkhave! May±pi kho eta½, bhikkhave, neva diµµha½ na suta½– ‘r±j± khattiyo muddh±bhisitto y±vadattha½ seyyasukha½ passasukha½ middhasukha½ anuyutto viharanto y±vaj²va½ rajja½ k±rento janapadassa v± piyo man±po”’ti.
“Ta½ ki½ maññatha, bhikkhave, api nu tumhehi diµµha½ v± suta½ v±– ‘raµµhiko…pe… pettaºiko… sen±patiko… g±mag±maºiko [g±mag±miko (s². p².)] … p³gag±maºiko y±vadattha½ seyyasukha½ passasukha½ middhasukha½ anuyutto viharanto y±vaj²va½ p³gag±maºikatta½ k±rento p³gassa v± piyo man±po”’ti? “No heta½, bhante”. “S±dhu, bhikkhave! May±pi kho eta½, bhikkhave, neva diµµha½ na suta½– ‘p³gag±maºiko y±vadattha½ seyyasukha½ passasukha½ middhasukha½ anuyutto viharanto y±vaj²va½ p³gag±maºikatta½ v± k±rento p³gassa v± piyo man±po”’ti.
“Ta½ ki½ maññatha, bhikkhave, api nu tumhehi diµµha½ v± suta½ v±– ‘samaºo v± br±hmaºo v± y±vadattha½ seyyasukha½ passasukha½ middhasukha½ anuyutto indriyesu aguttadv±ro bhojane amattaññ³ j±gariya½ ananuyutto avipassako kusal±na½ dhamm±na½ pubbaratt±pararatta½ bodhipakkhiy±na½ [bodhapakkhiy±na½ (s².), bodhapakkhik±na½ (p².)] dhamm±na½ bh±van±nuyoga½ ananuyutto ±sav±na½ khay± an±sava½ cetovimutti½ paññ±vimutti½ diµµheva dhamme saya½ abhiññ± sacchikatv± upasampajja viharanto”’ti? “No heta½, bhante”. “S±dhu, bhikkhave! “Tasm±tiha, bhikkhave, eva½ sikkhitabba½– ‘indriyesu guttadv±r± bhaviss±ma, bhojane mattaññuno, j±gariya½ anuyutt±, vipassak± kusal±na½ dhamm±na½ pubbaratt±pararatta½ bodhipakkhiy±na½ dhamm±na½, bh±van±nuyogamanuyutt± vihariss±m±’ti. Evañhi vo, bhikkhave, sikkhitabban”ti. Sattama½.
