Assosu½ kho ven±gapurik± br±hmaºagahapatik±– “samaºo khalu bho, gotamo sakyaputto sakyakul± pabbajito ven±gapura½ anuppatto. Ta½ kho pana bhavanta½ gotama½ eva½ kaly±ºo kittisaddo abbhuggato– ‘itipi so bhagav± araha½ samm±sambuddho vijj±caraºasampanno sugato lokavid³ anuttaro purisadammas±rathi satth± devamanuss±na½ buddho bhagav±’ti [bhagav± (s². sy± ka½. p².) ida½ suttavaººan±ya aµµhakath±ya sa½sandetabba½ p±r±. 1; d². ni. 1.255 passitabba½]. So ima½ loka½ sadevaka½ sam±raka½ sabrahmaka½ sassamaºabr±hmaºi½ paja½ sadevamanussa½ saya½ abhiññ± sacchikatv± pavedeti. So dhamma½ deseti ±dikaly±ºa½ majjhekaly±ºa½ pariyos±nakaly±ºa½ s±ttha½ sabyañjana½, kevalaparipuººa½ parisuddha½ brahmacariya½ pak±seti. S±dhu kho pana tath±r³p±na½ arahata½ dassana½ hot²”ti. Atha kho ven±gapurik± br±hmaºagahapatik± yena bhagav± tenupasaªkami½su; upasaªkamitv± appekacce bhagavanta½ abhiv±detv± ekamanta½ nis²di½su, appekacce bhagavat± saddhi½ sammodi½su, sammodan²ya½ katha½ s±raº²ya½ v²tis±retv± ekamanta½ nis²di½su, appekacce yena bhagav± tenañjali½ paº±metv± ekamanta½ nis²di½su, appekacce n±magotta½ s±vetv± ekamanta½ nis²di½su, appekacce tuºh²bh³t± ekamanta½ nis²di½su. Ekamanta½ nisinno kho ven±gapuriko vacchagotto br±hmaºo bhagavanta½ etadavoca– “Acchariya½ bho gotama, abbhuta½, bho gotama! Seyyath±pi, bho gotama, s±rada½ badarapaº¹u½ [maº¹a½ (ka.)] parisuddha½ hoti pariyod±ta½; evameva½ bhoto gotamassa vippasann±ni indriy±ni parisuddho chavivaººo pariyod±to. Y±ni t±ni, bho gotama, ucc±sayanamah±sayan±ni, seyyathida½– ±sandi pallaªko gonako cittako paµik± paµalik± t³lik± vikatik± uddalom² ekantalom² kaµµissa½ koseyya½ kuttaka½ hatthatthara½ assatthara½ rathatthara½ ajinappaveº² kadalimigapavarapaccattharaºa½ [k±dalimigapavarapaccattharaºa½ (s².)] sa-uttaracchada½ ubhatolohitak³padh±na½, evar³p±na½ n³na bhava½ gotamo ucc±sayanamah±sayan±na½ nik±mal±bh² akicchal±bh² akasiral±bh²”ti. “Y±ni kho pana t±ni, br±hmaºa, ucc±sayanamah±sayan±ni, seyyathida½– ±sandi pallaªko gonako cittako paµik± paµalik± t³lik± vikatik± uddalom² ekantalom² kaµµissa½ koseyya½ kuttaka½ hatthatthara½ assatthara½ rathatthara½ ajinappaveº² kadalimigapavarapaccattharaºa½ sa-uttaracchada½ ubhatolohitak³padh±na½. Dullabh±ni t±ni pabbajit±na½ laddh± ca pana [laddh±ni ca (s². sy±. ka½.), laddh± ca (p².)] na kappanti. “T²ºi kho, im±ni, br±hmaºa, ucc±sayanamah±sayan±ni, yes±ha½ etarahi nik±mal±bh² akicchal±bh² akasiral±bh². Katam±ni t²ºi? Dibba½ ucc±sayanamah±sayana½, brahma½ ucc±sayanamah±sayana½, ariya½ ucc±sayanamah±sayana½. Im±ni kho, br±hmaºa, t²ºi ucc±sayanamah±sayan±ni, yes±ha½ etarahi nik±mal±bh² akicchal±bh² akasiral±bh²”ti. “Katama½ pana ta½, bho gotama, dibba½ ucc±sayanamah±sayana½, yassa bhava½ gotamo etarahi nik±mal±bh² akicchal±bh² akasiral±bh²”ti? “Idh±ha½, br±hmaºa, ya½ g±ma½ v± nigama½ v± upaniss±ya vihar±mi, so pubbaºhasamaya½ niv±setv± pattac²varam±d±ya tameva g±ma½ v± nigama½ v± piº¹±ya pavis±mi. So pacch±bhatta½ piº¹ap±tapaµikkanto vanantaññeva pavis±mi [pac±ray±mi (s². sy±. ka½.)]. So yadeva tattha honti tiº±ni v± paºº±ni v± t±ni ekajjha½ saªgharitv± nis²d±mi pallaªka½ ±bhujitv± uju½ k±ya½ paºidh±ya parimukha½ sati½ upaµµhapetv±. So vivicceva k±mehi vivicca akusalehi dhammehi savitakka½ savic±ra½ vivekaja½ p²tisukha½ paµhama½ jh±na½ upasampajja vihar±mi; vitakkavic±r±na½ v³pasam± ajjhatta½ sampas±dana½ cetaso ekodibh±va½ avitakka½ avic±ra½ sam±dhija½ p²tisukha½ dutiya½ jh±na½ upasampajja vihar±mi; p²tiy± ca vir±g± upekkhako ca vihar±mi sato ca sampaj±no sukhañca k±yena paµisa½vedemi, ya½ ta½ ariy± ±cikkhanti– ‘upekkhako satim± sukhavih±r²’ti tatiya½ jh±na½ upasampajja vihar±mi; sukhassa ca pah±n± dukkhassa ca pah±n± pubbeva somanassadomanass±na½ atthaªgam± adukkhamasukha½ upekkh±satip±risuddhi½ catuttha½ jh±na½ upasampajja vihar±mi. So ce aha½, br±hmaºa, eva½bh³to caªkam±mi, dibbo me eso tasmi½ samaye caªkamo hoti. So ce aha½, br±hmaºa, eva½bh³to tiµµh±mi, dibba½ me eta½ tasmi½ samaye µh±na½ hoti. So ce aha½, br±hmaºa, eva½bh³to nis²d±mi, dibba½ me eta½ tasmi½ samaye ±sana½ hoti. So ce aha½, br±hmaºa, eva½bh³to seyya½ kappemi, dibba½ me eta½ tasmi½ samaye ucc±sayanamah±sayana½ hoti. Ida½ kho, br±hmaºa, dibba½ ucc±sayanamah±sayana½, yass±ha½ etarahi nik±mal±bh² akicchal±bh² akasiral±bh²”ti. “Acchariya½, bho gotama, abbhuta½, bho gotama! Ko cañño evar³passa dibbassa ucc±sayanamah±sayanassa nik±mal±bh² bhavissati akicchal±bh² akasiral±bh², aññatra bhot± gotamena! “Katama½ pana ta½, bho gotama, brahma½ ucc±sayanamah±sayana½, yassa bhava½ gotamo etarahi nik±mal±bh² akicchal±bh² akasiral±bh²”ti? “Idh±ha½, br±hmaºa, ya½ g±ma½ v± nigama½ v± upaniss±ya vihar±mi, so pubbaºhasamaya½ niv±setv± pattac²varam±d±ya tameva g±ma½ v± nigama½ v± piº¹±ya pavis±mi. So pacch±bhatta½ piº¹ap±tapaµikkanto vanantaññeva pavis±mi. So yadeva tattha honti tiº±ni v± paºº±ni v± t±ni ekajjha½ saªgharitv± nis²d±mi pallaªka½ ±bhujitv± uju½ k±ya½ paºidh±ya parimukha½ sati½ upaµµhapetv±. So mett±sahagatena cetas± eka½ disa½ pharitv± vihar±mi, tath± dutiya½, tath± tatiya½, tath± catuttha½, iti uddhamadho tiriya½ sabbadhi sabbattat±ya sabb±vanta½ loka½ mett±sahagatena cetas± vipulena mahaggatena appam±ºena averena aby±pajjhena [aby±pajjhena (sabbattha)] pharitv± vihar±mi. Karuº±sahagatena cetas±…pe… mudit±sahagatena cetas±…pe… upekkh±sahagatena cetas± eka½ disa½ pharitv± vihar±mi, tath± dutiya½, tath± tatiya½ tath± catuttha½ [catutthi½ (s².)], iti uddhamadho tiriya½ sabbadhi sabbattat±ya sabb±vanta½ loka½ upekkh±sahagatena cetas± vipulena mahaggatena appam±ºena averena aby±pajjhena pharitv± vihar±mi. So ce aha½, br±hmaºa, eva½bh³to caªkam±mi, brahm± me eso tasmi½ samaye caªkamo hoti. So ce aha½, br±hmaºa, eva½bh³to tiµµh±mi…pe… nis²d±mi…pe… seyya½ kappemi, brahma½ me eta½ tasmi½ samaye ucc±sayanamah±sayana½ hoti. Ida½ kho, br±hmaºa, brahma½ ucc±sayanamah±sayana½, yass±ha½ etarahi nik±mal±bh² akicchal±bh² akasiral±bh²”ti. “Acchariya½ bho gotama, abbhuta½, bho gotama! So eva½ j±n±mi– ‘r±go me pah²no ucchinnam³lo t±l±vatthukato anabh±va½kato ±yati½ anupp±dadhammo; doso me pah²no ucchinnam³lo t±l±vatthukato anabh±vaªkato ±yati½ anupp±dadhammo; moho me pah²no ucchinnam³lo t±l±vatthukato anabh±vaªkato ±yati½ anupp±dadhammo’. So ce aha½, br±hmaºa, eva½bh³to caªkam±mi, ariyo me eso tasmi½ samaye caªkamo hoti. So ce aha½, br±hmaºa, eva½bh³to tiµµh±mi…pe… nis²d±mi…pe… seyya½ kappemi, ariya½ me eta½ tasmi½ samaye ucc±sayanamah±sayana½ hoti. Ida½ kho, br±hmaºa, ariya½ ucc±sayanamah±sayana½, yass±ha½ etarahi nik±mal±bh² akicchal±bh² akasiral±bh²”ti. “Acchariya½, bho gotama, abbhuta½, bho gotama! Ko cañño evar³passa ariyassa ucc±sayanamah±sayanassa nik±mal±m² bhavissati akicchal±bh² akasiral±bh², aññatra bhot± gotamena! “Abhikkanta½, bho gotama, abhikkanta½, bho gotama! Seyyath±pi, bho gotama, nikkujjita½ v± ukkujjeyya, paµicchanna½ v± vivareyya, m³¼hassa v± magga½ ±cikkheyya, andhak±re v± telapajjota½ dh±reyya– ‘cakkhumanto r³p±ni dakkhant²’ti; evameva½ kho bhot± gotamena anekapariy±yena dhammo pak±sito.
