351. Tena kho pana samayena acelo kassapo macchik±saº¹a½ anuppatto hoti cittassa gahapatino pur±ºagihisah±yo. Assosi kho citto gahapati– “acelo kira kassapo macchik±saº¹a½ anuppatto amh±ka½ pur±ºagihisah±yo”ti. Atha kho citto gahapati yena acelo kassapo tenupasaªkami; upasaªkamitv± acelena kassapena saddhi½ sammodi. Sammodan²ya½ katha½ s±raº²ya½ v²tis±retv± ekamanta½ nis²di. Ekamanta½ nisinno kho citto gahapati acela½ kassapa½ etadavoca– “k²vacira½ pabbajitassa, bhante, kassap±”ti? “Ti½samatt±ni kho me, gahapati, vass±ni pabbajitass±”ti. “Imehi pana te, bhante, ti½samattehi vassehi atthi koci uttarimanussadhamm± [uttarimanussadhammo (sy±. ka½.)] alamariyañ±ºadassanaviseso adhigato ph±suvih±ro”ti? “Imehi kho me, gahapati, ti½samattehi vassehi pabbajitassa natthi koci uttarimanussadhamm± alamariyañ±ºadassanaviseso adhigato ph±suvih±ro, aññatra naggeyy± ca muº¹eyy± ca p±va¼anipphoµan±ya c±”ti. Eva½ vutte, citto gahapati acela½ kassapa½ etadavoca– “acchariya½ vata, bho, abbhuta½ vata, bho! Dhammassa sv±kkh±tat± [sabbatthapi evameva dissati] yatra hi n±ma ti½samattehi vassehi na koci uttarimanussadhamm± alamariyañ±ºadassanaviseso adhigato abhavissa ph±suvih±ro, aññatra naggeyy± ca muº¹eyy± ca p±va¼anipphoµan±ya c±”ti! “Tuyha½ pana, gahapati, k²vacira½ up±sakatta½ upagatass±”ti? “Mayhampi kho pana, bhante, ti½samatt±ni vass±ni up±sakatta½ upagatass±”ti. “Imehi pana te, gahapati, ti½samattehi vassehi atthi koci uttarimanussadhamm± alamariyañ±ºadassanaviseso adhigato ph±suvih±ro”ti? “Gihinopi siy±, bhante. Ahañhi, bhante, y±vadeva ±kaªkh±mi, vivicceva k±mehi vivicca akusalehi dhammehi savitakka½ savic±ra½ vivekaja½ p²tisukha½ paµhama½ jh±na½ upasampajja vihar±mi. Ahañhi, bhante, y±vadeva ±kaªkh±mi, vitakkavic±r±na½ v³pasam± …pe… dutiya½ jh±na½ upasampajja vihar±mi. Ahañhi, bhante, y±vadeva ±kaªkh±mi, p²tiy± ca vir±g±…pe… tatiya½ jh±na½ upasampajja vihar±mi. Ahañhi, bhante, y±vadeva ±kaªkh±mi, sukhassa ca pah±n±…pe… catuttha½ jh±na½ upasampajja vihar±mi. Sace kho pan±ha½, bhante, bhagavato [bhagavat± (sy±. ka½.)] paµhamatara½ k±la½ kareyya½, anacchariya½ kho paneta½ ya½ ma½ bhagav± eva½ by±kareyya– ‘natthi ta½ sa½yojana½ yena sa½yojanena sa½yutto citto gahapati puna ima½ loka½ ±gaccheyy±”’ti. Eva½ vutte, acelo kassapo citta½ gahapati½ etadavoca– “acchariya½ vata bho, abbhuta½ vata bho! Dhammassa sv±kkh±tat±, yatra hi n±ma gih² od±tavasano [gih² od±tavasan± (s². p².)] evar³pa½ uttarimanussadhamm± alamariyañ±ºadassanavisesa½ adhigamissati [adhigamissanti (s². p².)] ph±suvih±ra½. Labheyy±ha½, gahapati imasmi½ dhammavinaye pabbajja½, labheyya½ upasampadan”ti. Atha kho citto gahapati acela½ kassapa½ ±d±ya yena ther± bhikkh³ tenupasaªkami; upasaªkamitv± there bhikkh³ etadavoca– “aya½, bhante, acelo kassapo amh±ka½ pur±ºagihisah±yo. Ima½ ther± pabb±jentu upasamp±dentu. Ahamassa ussukka½ kariss±mi c²varapiº¹ap±tasen±sanagil±nappaccayabhesajjaparikkh±r±nan”ti. Alattha kho acelo kassapo imasmi½ dhammavinaye pabbajja½, alattha upasampada½. Acir³pasampanno ca pan±yasm± kassapo eko v³pakaµµho appamatto ±t±p² pahitatto viharanto nacirasseva– yassatth±ya kulaputt± sammadeva ag±rasm± anag±riya½ pabbajanti, tadanuttara½ brahmacariyapariyos±na½ diµµheva dhamme saya½ abhiññ± sacchikatv± upasampajja vih±si. “Kh²º± j±ti, vusita½ brahmacariya½, kata½ karaº²ya½, n±para½ itthatt±y±”ti abbhaññ±si.
