421. Id±ni yasm± eva½ abhiññ±vasena adhigat±nisa½s±ya thiratar±ya sam±dhibh±van±ya samann±gatena bhikkhun± s²le patiµµh±ya naro sapañño, citta½ paññañca bh±vayanti ettha cittas²sena niddiµµho sam±dhi sabb±k±rena bh±vito hoti. Tadanantar± pana paññ± bh±vetabb±. S± ca atisaªkhepadesitatt± viññ±tumpi t±va na sukar±, pageva bh±vetu½. Tasm± tass± vitth±ra½ bh±van±nayañca dassetu½ ida½ pañh±kamma½ hoti. K± paññ±, kenaµµhena paññ±, k±nass± lakkhaºarasapaccupaµµh±napadaµµh±n±ni, katividh± paññ±, katha½ bh±vetabb±, paññ±bh±van±ya ko ±nisa½soti? 422. Tatrida½ vissajjana½, k± paññ±ti paññ± bahuvidh± n±nappak±r±. Ta½ sabba½ vibh±vayitu½ ±rabbham±na½ vissajjana½ adhippetañceva attha½ na s±dheyya, uttari ca vikkhep±ya sa½vatteyya, tasm± idha adhippetameva sandh±ya vad±ma. Kusalacittasampayutta½ vipassan±ñ±ºa½ paññ±. 423. Kenaµµhena paññ±ti paj±nanaµµhena paññ±. Kimida½ paj±nana½ n±ma? Sañj±nanavij±nan±k±ravisiµµha½ n±nappak±rato j±nana½. Saññ±viññ±ºapaññ±na½ hi sam±nepi j±nanabh±ve, saññ± “n²la½ p²takan”ti ±rammaºasañj±nanamattameva hoti. “Anicca½ dukkhamanatt±”ti lakkhaºapaµivedha½ p±petu½ na sakkoti. Viññ±ºa½ “n²la½ p²takan”ti ±rammaºañca j±n±ti, lakkhaºapaµivedhañca p±peti. Ussakkitv± pana maggap±tubh±va½ p±petu½ na sakkoti. Paññ± vuttanayavasena ±rammaºañca j±n±ti, lakkhaºapaµivedhañca p±peti, ussakkitv± maggap±tubh±vañca p±peti. Yath± hi heraññikaphalake µhapita½ kah±paºar±si½ eko aj±tabuddhid±rako, eko g±mikapuriso, eko heraññikoti t²su janesu passam±nesu aj±tabuddhid±rako kah±paº±na½ cittavicittad²ghacaturassaparimaº¹alabh±vamattameva j±n±ti, “ida½ manuss±na½ upabhogaparibhoga½ ratanasammatan”ti na j±n±ti. G±mikapuriso cittavicitt±dibh±va½ j±n±ti, “ida½ manuss±na½ upabhogaparibhoga½ ratanasammatan”ti ca. “Aya½ cheko, aya½ k³µo, aya½ addhas±ro”ti ima½ pana vibh±ga½ na j±n±ti. Heraññiko sabbepi te pak±re j±n±ti, j±nanto ca kah±paºa½ oloketv±pi j±n±ti, ±koµitassa sadda½ sutv±pi, gandha½ gh±yitv±pi, rasa½ s±yitv±pi, hatthena dh±rayitv±pi, asukasmi½ n±ma g±me v± nigame v± nagare v± pabbate v± nad²t²re v± katotipi, asuk±cariyena katotipi j±n±ti, eva½sampadamida½ veditabba½. Saññ± hi aj±tabuddhino d±rakassa kah±paºadassana½ viya hoti, n²l±divasena ±rammaºassa upaµµh±n±k±ramattagahaºato. Viññ±ºa½ g±mikassa purisassa kah±paºadassanamiva hoti, n²l±divasena ±rammaº±k±ragahaºato, uddha½pi ca lakkhaºapaµivedhasamp±panato. Paññ± heraññikassa kah±paºadassanamiva hoti, n²l±divasena ±rammaº±k±ra½ gahetv±, lakkhaºapaµivedhañca p±petv±, tato uddhampi maggap±tubh±vap±panato. Tasm± yadeta½ sañj±nanavij±nan±k±ravisiµµha½ n±nappak±rato j±nana½. Ida½ paj±nananti veditabba½. Ida½ sandh±ya hi eta½ vutta½ “paj±nanaµµhena paññ±”ti. S± panes± yattha saññ±viññ±º±ni, na tattha eka½sena hoti. Yad± pana hoti, tad± avinibbhutt± tehi dhammehi “aya½ saññ±, ida½ viññ±ºa½, aya½ paññ±”ti vinibbhujjitv± alabbhaneyyan±natt± sukhum± duddas±. Ten±ha ±yasm± n±gaseno “dukkara½, mah±r±ja, bhagavat± katan”ti. Ki½, bhante, n±gasena bhagavat± dukkara½ katanti? ‘Dukkara½, mah±r±ja, bhagavat± kata½ ya½ ar³p²na½ cittacetasik±na½ dhamm±na½ ek±rammaºe pavattam±n±na½ vavatth±na½ akkh±ta½ aya½ phasso, aya½ vedan±, aya½ saññ±, aya½ cetan±, ida½ citta”n’ti (mi. pa. 2.7.16). 424. K±nass± lakkhaºarasapaccupaµµh±napadaµµh±n±n²ti ettha pana dhammasabh±vapaµivedhalakkhaº± paññ±, dhamm±na½ sabh±vapaµicch±dakamohandhak±raviddha½sanaras±, asammohapaccupaµµh±n±. “Sam±hito yath±bh³ta½ j±n±ti passat²”ti (a. ni. 10.2) vacanato pana sam±dhi tass± padaµµh±na½.
