Ayampi purimabuddhesu kat±dhik±ro tattha tattha bhave vivaµµ³panissay±ni puññ±ni upacinanto padumuttarassa bhagavato k±le ha½savat²nagare titthan±vikakule nibbattitv± mah±gaªg±ya pay±gatitthe titthan±v±ya kamma½ karonto ekadivasa½ sas±vakasaªgha½ bhagavanta½ gaªg±t²ra½ upagata½ disv± pasannam±naso n±v±saªgh±µa½ yojetv± mahantena p³j±sakk±rena parat²ra½ p±petv± aññatara½ bhikkhu½ satth±r± ±raññak±na½ bhikkh³na½ aggaµµh±ne µhapiyam±na½ disv± ta½ µh±nantara½ patthetv± bhagavato bhikkhusaªghassa ca mah±d±na½ pavattetv± paºidh±na½ ak±si. Bhagav± tassa patthan±ya avañjhabh±va½ by±k±si.
So tato paµµh±ya puññ±ni upacinanto devamanussesu sa½saranto ubhayasampattiyo anubhavitv± imasmi½ buddhupp±de magadharaµµhe n±lakag±me r³pas±riy± n±ma br±hmaºiy± kucchimhi nibbatti. Ta½ vayappatta½ m±t±pitaro gharabandhanena bandhituk±m± hutv± tassa ±rocesu½. So s±riputtattherassa pabbajitabh±va½ sutv± “mayha½ jeµµhabh±t± ayyo upatisso ima½ vibhava½ cha¹¹etv± pabbajito, tena vanta½ khe¼apiº¹a½ kath±ha½ anubhaviss±m²”ti j±tasa½vego p±sa½ anupagaccham±namigo viya ñ±take vañcetv± hetusampattiy± codiyam±no bhikkh³na½ santika½ gantv± dhammasen±patino kaniµµhabh±va½ nivedetv± attano pabbajj±ya chanda½ ±rocesi. Bhikkh³ ta½ pabb±jetv± paripuººav²sativassa½ upasamp±detv± kammaµµh±ne niyojesu½. So kammaµµh±na½ gahetv± khadiravana½ pavisitv± vissamanto ghaµento v±yamanto ñ±ºassa parip±ka½ gatatt± nacirasseva cha¼abhiñño arah± ahosi. So arah± hutv± satth±ra½ dhammasen±patiñca vanditu½ sen±sana½ sa½s±metv± pattac²varam±d±ya nikkhamitv± anupubbena s±vatthi½ patv± jetavana½ pavisitv± satth±ra½ dhammasen±patiñca vanditv± katip±ha½ jetavane vih±si. 628. Eva½ etadaggaµµh±na½ patv± attano pubbakamma½ saritv± p²tisomanassavasena pubbacarit±pad±na½ pak±sento gaªg± bh±g²rath²ti-±dim±ha. Tattha gaªg±ti g±yam±n± ghosa½ kurum±n± gacchat²ti gaªg±. Atha v± go vuccati pathav², tasmi½ gat± pavatt±ti gaªg±. Anotattadaha½ tikkhattu½ padakkhiºa½ katv± gataµµh±ne ±vaµµagaªg±ti ca pabbatamatthakena gataµµh±ne bahalagaªg±ti ca tiracch±napabbata½ vijjhitv± gataµµh±ne umaªgagaªg±ti ca tato bahalapabbata½ paharitv± pañcayojana½ ±k±sena gataµµh±ne ±k±sagaªg±ti ca tass± patitaµµh±na½ bhinditv± j±ta½ pañca yojana½ pokkharaº²k³la½ bhinditv± tattha pana pañcaªguli viya pañca dh±r± hutv± gaªg± yamun± sarabh³ mah² aciravat²ti pañca n±m± hutv± jambud²pa½ pañca bh±ga½ pañca koµµh±sa½ katv± pañca bh±ge pañca koµµh±se it± gat± pavatt±ti bh±g²rath². Gaªg± ca s± bh±g²rath² ceti gaªg±bh±g²rath². “Bh±g²rath² gaªg±”ti vattabbe g±th±bandhasukhattha½ pubbacariyavasena vuttanti daµµhabba½. Himavant± pabh±vit±ti satte hi½sati s²tena hanati matheti ±lo¼et²ti himo, himo assa atth²ti himav±, tato himavantato paµµh±ya pabh±vit± pavatt± sandam±n±ti himavantapabh±vit±. Kutitthe n±viko ±sinti tass± gaªg±ya caº¹asotasam±panne visamatitthe kevaµµakule uppanno n±viko ±si½ ahosinti attho. Orime ca tari½ ahanti sampattasampattamanusse p±rim± t²r± orima½ t²ra½ aha½ tari½ t±resinti attho.
629. Padumuttaro n±yakoti dvipad±na½ uttamo satte nibb±na½ n±yako p±panako padumuttarabuddho mama puññasampatti½ nipph±dento. Vas²satasahassehi kh²º±savasatasahassehi gaªg±sota½ taritu½ tittha½ pattoti sambandho.
630. Bah³ n±v± sam±netv±ti sampatta½ ta½ samm±sambuddha½ disv± va¹¹hak²hi suµµhu saªkhata½ kata½ nipph±dita½ bah³ n±v±yo sam±netv± dve dve n±v±yo ekato katv± tass± n±v±ya upari maº¹apachadana½ katv± nar±sabha½ padumuttarasambuddha½ paµim±ni½ p³jesinti attho.
631. ¾gantv±na ca sambuddhoti eva½ saªghaµit±ya n±v±ya tattha ±gantv±na tañca n±vaka½ n±vamuttama½ ±ruh²ti sambandho. V±rimajjhe µhito satth±ti n±vam±r³¼ho satth± gaªg±jalamajjhe µhito sam±no im± somanassapaµisa½yuttag±th± abh±satha kathes²ti sambandho.
632. Yo so t±resi sambuddhanti yo so n±viko gaªg±sot±ya sambuddha½ at±resi. Saªghañc±pi an±savanti na kevalameva sambuddha½ t±resi, an±sava½ nikkilesa½ saªghañc±pi t±res²ti attho. Tena cittapas±den±ti tena n±v±p±janak±le uppannena somanassasahagatacittapas±dena devaloke chasu k±masaggesu ramissati dibbasampatti½ anubhavissat²ti attho.
633. Nibbattissati te byamhanti devaloke uppannassa te tuyha½ byamha½ vim±na½ sukata½ suµµhu nibbatta½ n±vasaºµhita½ n±v±saºµh±na½ nibbattissati p±tubhavissat²ti attho. ¾k±se pupphachadananti n±v±ya uparimaº¹apakatakammassa nissandena sabbad± gatagataµµh±ne ±k±se pupphachadana½ dh±rayissat²ti sambandho.
634. Aµµhapaññ±sakappamh²ti ito puññakaraºak±lato paµµh±ya aµµhapaºº±sakappa½ atikkamitv± n±mena t±rako n±ma cakkavatt² khattiyo c±turanto cat³su d²pesu issaro vijit±v² jitavanto bhavissat²ti sambandho. Sesag±th± utt±natth±va.

V²riya½ me dhuradhorayhanti eva½ padumuttarena bhagavat± by±kato aha½ kamena p±ramit±koµi½ patv± me mayha½ v²riya½ asithilav²riya½ dhuradhorayha½ dhurav±ha½ dhur±dh±ra½ yogehi khemassa nibbhayassa nibb±nassa adhiv±hana½ ±vahana½ ahos²ti attho. Dh±remi antima½ dehanti id±n±ha½ samm±sambuddhas±sane pariyos±nasar²ra½ dh±rem²ti sambandho.
So aparabh±ge attano j±tag±ma½ gantv± “c±l±, upac±l±, s²s³pac±l±”ti tissanna½ bhagin²na½ putte “c±l±, upac±l±, s²s³pac±l±”ti tayo bh±gineyye ±netv± pabb±jetv± kammaµµh±ne niyojesi. Te kammaµµh±na½ anuyutt± vihari½su.
Tasmiñca samaye therassa kocideva ±b±dho uppanno, ta½ sutv± s±riputtatthero– “revatassa gil±napucchana½ adhigamapucchanañca kariss±m²”ti upagañchi. Revatatthero dhammasen±pati½ d³ratova ±gacchanta½ disv± tesa½ s±maºer±na½ satupp±davasena ovadiyam±no c±letig±tha½ abh±sittha. Tattha c±le upac±le s²s³pac±leti tesa½ ±lapana½. C±l±, upac±l±, s²s³pac±l±ti hi itthiliªgavasena laddhan±m± tayo d±rak± pabbajit±pi tath± vohariyyanti. “C±l², upac±l², s²s³pac±l²ti tesa½ n±m±n²”ti ca vadanti. Yadattha½ “c±le”ti-±din± ±mantana½ kata½, ta½ dassento “patissat± nu kho viharath±”ti vatv± tattha k±raºa½ ±ha– “±gato vo v±la½ viya vedh²”ti.
