Manuss± kujjhitv± “imin± amh±ka½ nirapar±dho ayyo pahaµo, daº¹enapissa mokkho natthi, ettheva na½ m±ress±m±”ti le¹¹udaº¹±dihatth± br±hmaºassa gehadv±re aµµha½su. Thero uµµh±ya gacchanto br±hmaºassa hatthe patta½ ad±si. Manuss± ta½ therena saddhi½ gacchanta½ disv±, “bhante, tumh±ka½ patta½ gahetv± br±hmaºa½ nivatteth±”ti ±ha½su. Ki½ eta½ up±sak±ti? Br±hmaºena tumhe pahaµ±, mayamassa kattabba½ j±niss±m±ti. Ki½ pana tumhe imin± pahaµ±, ud±hu ahanti? Tumhe, bhanteti. “Ma½ esa paharitv± kham±pesi, gacchatha tumhe”ti manusse uyyojetv± br±hmaºa½ nivatt±petv± thero vih±rameva gato. Bhikkh³ ujjh±yi½su “ki½ n±meta½ s±riputtatthero yena br±hmaºena pahaµo, tasseva gehe nis²ditv± bhikkha½ gahetv± ±gato. Therassa pahaµak±lato paµµh±ya id±ni so kassa lajjissati, avasese pothento vicarissat²”ti. Satth± ±gantv± “k±ya nuttha, bhikkhave, etarahi kath±ya sannisinn±”ti pucchitv± “im±ya n±m±”ti vutte, “bhikkhave, br±hmaºo br±hmaºa½ paharanto n±ma natthi, gihibr±hmaºena pana samaºabr±hmaºo pahaµo bhavissati, kodho n±mesa an±g±mimaggena samuggh±ta½ gacchat²”ti vatv± dhamma½ desento im± g±th± abh±si–
389. “Na br±hmaºassa pahareyya, n±ssa muñcetha br±hmaºo;
dh² br±hmaºassa hant±ra½, tato dh² yassa muñcati.
390. “Na br±hmaºassetadakiñci seyyo, yad± nisedho manaso piyehi;
yato yato hi½samano nivattati, tato tato sammatimeva dukkhan”ti.
Tattha pahareyy±ti “kh²º±savabr±hmaºohamasm²”ti j±nanto kh²º±savassa v± aññatarassa v± j±tibr±hmaºassa na pahareyya. N±ssa muñceth±ti sopi pahaµo kh²º±savabr±hmaºo assa paharitv± µhitassa vera½ na muñcetha, tasmi½ kopa½ na kareyy±ti attho. Dh² br±hmaºass±ti kh²º±savabr±hmaºassa hant±ra½ garah±mi. Tato dh²ti yo pana ta½ paharanta½ paµipaharanto tassa upari vera½ muñcati, ta½ tatopi garah±miyeva.
Etadakiñci seyyoti ya½ kh²º±savassa akkosanta½ v± apaccakkosana½, paharanta½ v± appaµipaharaºa½, eta½ tassa kh²º±savabr±hmaºassa na kiñci seyyo, appamattaka½ seyyo na hoti, adhimattameva seyyoti attho. Yad± nisedho manaso piyeh²ti kodhanassa hi kodhupp±dova manaso piyo n±ma. Kodho hi panesa m±t±pit³supi buddh±d²supi aparajjhati. Tasm± yo assa tehi manaso nisedho kodhavasena uppajjam±nassa cittassa niggaho, eta½ na kiñci seyyoti attho. Hi½samanoti kodhamano. So tassa yato yato vatthuto an±g±mimaggena samuggh±ta½ gacchanto nivattati Tato tatoti tato tato vatthuto sakalampi vaµµadukkha½ nivattatiyev±ti attho.
