Atha aparabh±ge veµhad²pakat±paso k±la½ katv± mahesakkho devar±j± hutv± nibbatto. Tato a¹¹ham±se sampatte aggi½ adisv±va itaro “sah±yako me k±lakato”ti aññ±si. Itaropi nibbattakkhaºeyeva attano devasiri½ oloketv± kamma½ upadh±rento nikkhamanato paµµh±ya attano tapacariya½ disv± “gantv± mama sah±yaka½ passiss±m²”ti ta½ attabh±va½ vijahitv± maggikapuriso viya tassa santika½ gantv± vanditv± ekamanta½ aµµh±si. Sace pan±ya½ amhe pah±ya katthaci gamissati, ubhopi idheva maraºa½ p±puºiss±ma, ya½kiñci katv± imassa s²la½ bhinditv± yath± ma½ na muñcati, tath± ta½ k±tu½ vaµµat²”ti. Atha na½ dunnivatthadupp±rutadassanena palobhetv± s²lavin±sa½ p±pesi. Tato paµµh±ya dvepi samaggav±sa½ vasi½su. Athekadivasa½ t±paso nakkhattayoga½ ullokento p³rantappassa nakkhattamil±yana½ disv± “bhadde kosambiya½ p³rantappar±j± mato”ti ±ha. “Kasm±, ayya, eva½ vadesi? Puna “atitaruº± hatth² nivattant³”ti hatthirava½ ravi, tepi nivatti½su.
