Abhittharetha kaly±ºeti ima½ dhammadesana½ satth± jetavane viharanto c³¼ekas±µakabr±hmaºa½ ±rabbha kathesi.
Vipassidasabalassa k±lasmiñhi mah±-ekas±µakabr±hmaºo n±ma ahosi, aya½ pana etarahi s±vatthiya½ c³¼ekas±µako n±ma. Tassa hi eko niv±sanas±µako ahosi, br±hmaºiy±pi eko. Ubhinnampi ekameva p±rupana½, bahi gamanak±le br±hmaºo v± br±hmaº² v± ta½ p±rupati. Athekadivasa½ vih±re dhammassavane ghosite br±hmaºo ±ha– “bhoti dhammassavana½ ghosita½, ki½ div± dhammassavana½ gamissasi, ud±hu ratti½. P±rupanassa hi abh±vena na sakk± amhehi ekato gantun”ti. Br±hmaº², “s±mi, aha½ div± gamiss±m²”ti s±µaka½ p±rupitv± agam±si. Br±hmaºo divasabh±ga½ gehe v²tin±metv± ratti½ gantv± satthu purato nisinnova dhamma½ assosi. Athassa maccheracitt±na½ sahassa½ uppajji, puneka½ saddh±citta½ uppajji. Ta½ abhibhavitv± puna maccherasahassa½ uppajji. Itissa balavamacchera½ bandhitv± gaºhanta½ viya saddh±citta½ paµib±hatiyeva. Tassa “dass±mi, na dass±m²”ti cintentasseva paµhamay±mo apagato, majjhimay±mo sampatto. Tasmimpi d±tu½ n±sakkhi. Pacchimay±me sampatte so cintesi– “mama saddh±cittena maccheracittena ca saddhi½ yujjhantasseva dve y±m± v²tivatt±, ida½ mama ettaka½ maccheracitta½ va¹¹ham±na½ cat³hi ap±yehi s²sa½ ukkhipitu½ na dassati, dass±mi nan”ti. So maccherasahassa½ abhibhavitv± saddh±citta½ purec±rika½ katv± s±µaka½ ±d±ya satthu p±dam³le µhapetv± “jita½ me, jita½ me”ti tikkhattu½ mah±saddamak±si.
R±j± pasenadi kosalo dhamma½ suºanto ta½ sadda½ sutv± “pucchatha na½, ki½ kira tena jitan”ti ±ha. So r±japurisehi pucchito tamattha½ ±rocesi. Ta½ sutv± r±j± “dukkara½ kata½ br±hmaºena, saªgahamassa kariss±m²”ti eka½ s±µakayuga½ d±pesi. So tampi tath±gatasseva ad±si. Puna r±j± dve catt±ri aµµha so¼as±ti dviguºa½ katv± d±pesi. So t±nipi tath±gatasseva ad±si. Athassa r±j± dvatti½sa yug±ni d±pesi. Br±hmaºo “attano aggahetv± laddha½ laddha½ vissajjesiyev±”ti v±damocanattha½ tato eka½ yuga½ attano, eka½ br±hmaºiy±ti dve yug±ni gahetv± ti½sa yug±ni tath±gatasseva ad±si. R±j± pana tasmi½ sattakkhattumpi dadante puna d±tuk±moyeva ahosi. Pubbe mah±-ekas±µako catusaµµhiy± s±µakayugesu dve aggahesi, aya½ pana dvatti½s±ya laddhak±le dve aggahesi. R±j± purise ±º±pesi– “dukkara½ bhaºe br±hmaºena kata½, antepure mama dve kambal±ni ±har±peyy±th±”ti. Te tath± kari½su. R±j± satasahassagghanake dve kambale d±pesi. Br±hmaºo “na ime mama sar²re upayoga½ arahanti, buddhas±sanasseva ete anucchavik±”ti eka½ kambala½ antogandhakuµiya½ satthu sayanassa upari vit±na½ katv± bandhi, eka½ attano ghare nibaddha½ bhuñjantassa bhikkhuno bhattakiccaµµh±ne vit±na½ katv± bandhi. R±j± s±yanhasamaye satthu santika½ gantv± ta½ kambala½ sañj±nitv±, “bhante, kena p³j± kat±”ti pucchitv± “ekas±µaken±”ti vutte “br±hmaºo mama pas±daµµh±neyeva pas²dat²”ti vatv± “catt±ro hatth² catt±ro asse catt±ri kah±paºasahass±ni catasso itthiyo catasso d±siyo catt±ro purise caturo g±mavare”ti eva½ y±va sabbasat± catt±ri catt±ri katv± sabbacatukka½ n±ma assa d±pesi.
Bhikkh³ dhammasabh±ya½ katha½ samuµµh±pesu½– “aho acchariya½ c³¼ekas±µakassa kamma½, ta½muhuttameva sabbacatukka½ labhi, id±ni katena kaly±ºakammena ajjameva vip±ko dinno”ti. Satth± ±gantv± “k±ya nuttha, bhikkhave, etarahi kath±ya sannisinn±”ti pucchitv± “im±ya n±m±”ti vutte, “bhikkhave, sac±ya½ ekas±µako paµhamay±me mayha½ d±tu½ asakkhissa, sabbaso¼asaka½ alabhissa. Sace majjhimay±me asakkhissa, sabbaµµhaka½ alabhissa Balavapacchimay±me dinnatt± panesa sabbacatukka½ labhi. Kaly±ºakamma½ karontena hi uppanna½ citta½ ah±petv± taªkhaºaññeva k±tabba½. Dandha½ kata½ kusalañhi sampatti½ dadam±na½ dandhameva dad±ti, tasm± cittupp±dasamanantarameva kaly±ºakamma½ k±tabban”ti vatv± anusandhi½ ghaµetv± dhamma½ desento ima½ g±tham±ha–

dandhañhi karoto puñña½, p±pasmi½ ramat² mano”ti.
Tattha abhitthareth±ti turitaturita½ s²ghas²gha½ kareyy±ti attho. Gihin± v± hi “sal±kabhattad±n±d²su kiñcideva kusala½ kariss±m²”ti citte uppanne yath± aññe ok±sa½ na labhanti, eva½ “aha½ pure, aha½ pure”ti turitaturitameva k±tabba½. Pabbajitena v± upajjh±yavatt±d²ni karontena aññassa ok±sa½ adatv± “aha½ pure, aha½ pure”ti turitaturitameva k±tabba½. P±p± cittanti k±yaduccarit±dip±pakammato v± akusalacittupp±dato v± sabbath±mena citta½ niv±raye. Dandhañhi karototi yo pana “dass±mi, na dass±mi sampajjissati nu kho me, no”ti eva½ cikkhallamaggena gacchanto viya dandha½ puñña½ karoti, tassa ekas±µakassa viya maccherasahassa½ p±pa½ ok±sa½ labhati. Athassa p±pasmi½ ramat² mano, kusalakammakaraºak±leyeva hi citta½ kusale ramati, tato muccitv± p±paninnameva hot²ti.
