Yo ca vassasata½ j²veti ima½ dhammadesana½ satth± jetavane viharanto sappad±satthera½ ±rabbha kathesi. S±vatthiya½ kireko kulaputto satthu dhammadesana½ sutv± pabbajitv± laddh³pasampado aparena samayena ukkaºµhitv± “m±disassa kulaputtassa gihibh±vo n±ma ayutto, pabbajj±ya µhatv± maraºamhi me seyyo”ti cintetv± attano maraº³p±ya½ cintento vicarati. Athekadivasa½ p±tova katabhattakicc± bhikkh³ vih±ra½ gantv± aggis±l±ya sappa½ disv± ta½ ekasmi½ kuµe pakkhipitv± kuµa½ pidahitv± ±d±ya vih±r± nikkhami½su. Ukkaºµhitabhikkhupi bhattakicca½ katv± ±gacchanto te bhikkh³ disv± “ki½ ida½, ±vuso”ti pucchitv± “sappo, ±vuso”ti vutte imin± “ki½ karissath±”ti? “Cha¹¹ess±ma nan”ti. Tesa½ vacana½ sutv± “imin± att±na½ ¹a½s±petv± mariss±m²”ti “±haratha, aha½ ta½ cha¹¹ess±m²”ti tesa½ hatthato kuµa½ gahetv± ekasmi½ µh±ne nisinno tena sappena att±na½ ¹a½s±peti, sappo ¹a½situ½ na icchati. Atha na½ bhikkh³ “cha¹¹ito te, ±vuso, sappo”ti ±ha½su. “Na so, ±vuso, ghorasappo, gharasappo eso”ti. “Ghorasappoyev±vuso, mahanta½ phaºa½ katv± susuyanto dukkhena amhehi gahito, ki½ k±raº± eva½ tva½ vades²”ti ±ha½su. “Aha½, ±vuso, tena att±na½ ¹a½s±pentopi mukhe aªguli½ pakkhipentopi ta½ ¹a½s±petu½ n±sakkhin”ti. Ta½ sutv± bhikkh³ tuºh² ahesu½. Athekadivasa½ nh±pito dve tayo khure ±d±ya vih±ra½ gantv± eka½ bh³miya½ µhapetv± ekena bhikkh³na½ kese oh±reti. So bh³miya½ µhapita½ khura½ gahetv± “imin± g²va½ chinditv± mariss±m²”ti ekasmi½ rukkhe g²va½ upanidh±ya khuradh±ra½ galan±¼iya½ katv± µhito upasampad±m±¼ato paµµh±ya attano s²la½ ±vajjento vimalacandamaº¹ala½ viya sudhotamaºikhandhamiva ca nimmala½ s²la½ addasa. Tassa ta½ olokentassa sakalasar²ra½ pharant² p²ti uppajji. So p²ti½ vikkhambhetv± vipassana½ va¹¹hento saha paµisambhid±hi arahatta½ patv± khura½ ±d±ya vih±ramajjha½ p±visi. Atha na½ bhikkh³ “kaha½ gatosi, ±vuso”ti pucchi½su. “‘Imin± khurena galan±¼i½ chinditv± mariss±m²’ti gatomhi ±vuso”ti. Atha “kasm± na matos²”ti? Id±nimhi sattha½ ±haritu½ abhabbo j±to. Ahañhi “imin± khurena galan±¼i½ chindiss±m²”ti ñ±ºakhurena sabbakilese chindinti. Bhikkh³ “aya½ abh³tena añña½ by±karot²”ti bhagavato ±rocesu½. Bhagav± tesa½ katha½ sutv± ±ha– “na, bhikkhave, kh²º±sav± n±ma sahatth± att±na½ j²vit± voropent²”ti. Bhante, tumhe ima½ “kh²º±savo”ti vadatha, eva½ arahatt³panissayasampanno pan±ya½ kasm± ukkaºµhati, kimassa arahatt³panissayak±raºa½ “kasm± so sappo eta½ na ¹a½sat²”ti? “Bhikkhave, so t±va sappo imassa ito tatiye attabh±ve d±so ahosi, so attano s±mikassa sar²ra½ ¹a½situ½ na visahat²”ti. Eva½ t±va nesa½ satth± eka½ k±raºa½ ±cikkhi. Tato paµµh±ya ca so bhikkhu sappad±so n±ma j±to. Kassapasamm±sambuddhak±le kireko kulaputto satthu dhammakatha½ sutv± uppannasa½vego pabbajitv± laddh³pasampado aparena samayena anabhiratiy± uppann±ya ekassa sah±yakassa bhikkhuno ±rocesi. So tassa abhiºha½ gihibh±ve ±d²nava½ kathesi. Ta½ sutv± itaro s±sane abhiramitv± pubbe anabhiratak±le malaggahite samaºaparikkh±re ekasmi½ soº¹it²re nimmale karonto nis²di. Sah±yakopissa santikeyeva nisinno. Atha na½ so evam±ha– “aha½, ±vuso, uppabbajanto ime parikkh±re tuyha½ d±tuk±mo ahosin”ti. So lobha½ upp±detv± cintesi– “imin± mayha½ pabbajitena v± uppabbajitena v± ko attho, id±ni parikkh±re gaºhiss±m²”ti. So tato paµµh±ya “ki½ d±n±vuso, amh±ka½ j²vitena, ye maya½ kap±lahatth± parakulesu bhikkh±ya car±ma, puttad±rehi saddhi½ ±l±pasall±pa½ na karom±”ti-±d²ni vadanto gihibh±vassa guºa½ kathesi. So tassa katha½ sutv± puna ukkaºµhito hutv± cintesi– “aya½ may± ‘ukkaºµhitomh²’ti vutte paµhama½ gihibh±ve ±d²nava½ kathetv± id±ni abhiºha½ guºa½ katheti, ‘ki½ nu kho k±raºa”n’ti cintento “imesu samaºaparikkh±resu lobhen±”ti ñatv± sayameva attano citta½ nivattesi. Evamassa kassapasamm±sambuddhak±le ekassa bhikkhuno ukkaºµh±pitatt± id±ni anabhirati uppann±. Yo pana teneva tad± v²sati vassasahass±ni samaºadhammo kato, svassa etarahi arahatt³panissayo j±toti. Imamattha½ te bhikkh³ bhagavato santik± sutv± uttari½ pucchi½su– “bhante, aya½ kira bhikkhu khuradh±ra½ galan±¼iya½ katv± µhitova arahatta½ p±puº±ti, uppajjissati nu kho ettakena khaºena arahattamaggo”ti. “¾ma, bhikkhave, ±raddhav²riyassa bhikkhuno p±da½ ukkhipitv± bh³miya½ µhapentassa p±de bh³miya½ asampatteyeva arahattamaggo uppajjati. Kus²tassa puggalassa hi vassasata½ j²vanato ±raddhav²riyassa khaºamattampi j²vita½ seyyo”ti vatv± anusandhi½ ghaµetv± ima½ g±tham±ha– 112. “Yo ca vassasata½ j²ve, kus²to h²nav²riyo;
ek±ha½ j²vika½ seyyo, v²riyam±rabhato da¼han”ti.
Tattha kus²toti k±mavitakk±d²hi t²hi vitakkehi v²tin±mento puggalo. H²nav²riyoti nibb²riyo. V²riyam±rabhato da¼hanti duvidhajjh±nanibbattanasamattha½ thira½ v²riya½ ±rabhantassa. Sesa½ purimasadisameva. Desan±vas±ne bah³ sot±pattiphal±d²ni p±puºi½s³ti.
