Te ±ha½su– “±vuso, maya½ sabbe ekato m±riyam±n±pi ta½ ekaka½ na vissajjess±m±”ti. “Ki½ k±raº±, bhante”ti? “‘¾vuso, tva½ dhammasen±patis±riputtattherassa s±maºero, sace ta½ vissajjess±ma, s±maºera½ me ±d±ya gantv± cor±na½ niyy±di½s³’ti thero no garahissati, ta½ ninda½ nittharitu½ na sakkhiss±ma, tena ta½ na vissajjess±m±”ti. “Bhante, samm±sambuddho tumhe mama upajjh±yassa santika½ pahiºantopi, mama upajjh±yo ma½ tumhehi saddhi½ pahiºantopi idameva k±raºa½ disv± pahiºi, tiµµhatha tumhe, ahameva gamiss±m²”ti so ti½sa bhikkh³ vanditv± “sace, bhante, me doso atthi, khamath±”ti vatv± nikkhami. Tad± bhikkh³na½ mah±sa½vego uppajji, akkh²ni assupuºº±ni hadayama½sa½ pavedhi. Mah±thero core ±ha– “up±sak± aya½ daharako tumhe aggi½ karonte, s³l±ni tacchante, paºº±ni attharante disv± bh±yissati, ima½ ekamante µhapetv± t±ni kicc±ni kareyy±th±”ti. Cor± s±maºera½ ±d±ya gantv± ekamante µhapetv± sabbakicc±ni kari½su. Kiccapariyos±ne corajeµµhako asi½ abb±hitv± s±maºera½ upasaªkami. S±maºero nis²dam±no jh±na½ sam±pajjitv±va nis²di. Asi t±lapaººa½ viya veµhayam±no tharum³la½ agam±si. S±maºerañhi tasmi½ k±le sinerun± avattharantopi m±retu½ samattho n±ma natthi, pageva asin±. Ta½ p±µih±riya½ disv± corajeµµhako cintesi– “pubbe me asi sil±thambha½ v± khadirakh±ºu½ v± ka¼²ra½ viya chindati, id±ni ekav±ra½ nami, ekav±ra½ t±lapattaveµhako viya j±to. So asi½ bh³miya½ khipitv± tassa p±dam³le urena nipajjitv±, “bhante, maya½ dhanak±raº± aµavi½ paviµµh±mh±, amhe d³ratova disv± sahassamatt±pi manuss± pavedhanti, dve tisso kath± kathetu½ na sakkonti. Tava pana sant±samattampi natthi, ukk±mukhe suvaººa½ viya supupphitakaºik±ra½ viya ca te mukha½ virocati, ki½ nu kho k±raºan”ti pucchanto ima½ g±tham±ha–
“Tassa te natthi bh²tatta½, bhiyyo vaººo pas²dati;
kasm± na paridevesi, evar³pe mahabbhaye”ti. (Therag±. 706).
S±maºero jh±n± vuµµh±ya tassa dhamma½ desento, “±vuso g±maºi, kh²º±savassa attabh±vo n±ma s²se µhapitabh±ro viya hoti, so tasmi½ bhijjante v± nassante v± tussateva, na bh±yat²”ti vatv± im± g±th± abh±si–
“Natthi cetasika½ dukkha½, anapekkhassa g±maºi;
atikkant± bhay± sabbe, kh²ºasa½yojanassa ve.
“Kh²º±ya bhavanettiy±, diµµhe dhamme yath±tathe;
na bhaya½ maraºe hoti, bh±ranikkhepane yath±”ti. (Therag±. 707-708).
So tassa katha½ sutv± pañca corasat±ni oloketv± ±ha– “tumhe ki½ karissath±”ti? “Tumhe pana, s±m²”ti. “Mama t±va, bho, ‘evar³pa½ p±µih±riya½ disv± ag±ramajjhe kamma½ natthi, ayyassa santike pabbajiss±m²’ti. Mayampi tatheva kariss±m±”ti. “S±dhu, t±t±”ti tato pañcasat±pi cor± s±maºera½ vanditv± pabbajja½ y±ci½su So tesa½ asidh±r±hi eva kese ceva vatthadas± ca chinditv± tambamattik±ya rajitv± t±ni k±s±y±ni acch±d±petv± dasasu s²lesu patiµµh±petv± te ±d±ya gacchanto cintesi “sac±ha½ there adisv±va gamiss±mi, te samaºadhamma½ k±tu½ na sakkhissanti. Cor±nañhi ma½ gahetv± nikkhantak±lato paµµh±ya tesu ekopi ass³ni sandh±retu½ n±sakkhi, ‘m±rito nu kho s±maºero, no’ti cintent±na½ kammaµµh±na½ abhimukha½ na bhavissati, tasm± disv±va ne gamiss±m²”ti. So pañcasatabhikkhupariv±ro tattha gantv± attano dassanena paµiladdha-ass±sehi tehi “ki½, sappurisa, sa½kicca, laddha½ te j²vitan”ti vutte, “±ma, bhante, ime ma½ m±retuk±m± hutv± m±retu½ asakkont± mama guºe pas²ditv± dhamma½ sutv± pabbajit±, aha½ ‘tumhe disv±va gamiss±m²’ti ±gato, appamatt± samaºadhamma½ karotha, aha½ satthu santika½ gamiss±m²”ti te bhikkh³ vanditv± itare ±d±ya upajjh±yassa santika½ gantv± “ki½ sa½kicca, antev±sik± te laddh±”ti vutte, “±ma, bhante”ti ta½ pavatti½ ±rocesi. Therena “gaccha sa½kicca, satth±ra½ pass±h²”ti vutte, “s±dh³”ti thera½ vanditv± te ±d±ya satthu santika½ gantv± satth±r±pi “ki½ sa½kicca, antev±sik± te laddh±”ti vutte, “±ma, bhante”ti ta½ pavatti½ ±rocesi. Satth± “eva½ kira, bhikkhave”ti pucchitv±, “±ma, bhante”ti vutte, “bhikkhave, tumh±ka½ corakamma½ katv± duss²le patiµµh±ya vassasata½ j²vanato id±ni s²le patiµµh±ya ekadivasampi j²vita½ seyyo”ti vatv± anusandhi½ ghaµetv± dhamma½ desento ima½ g±tham±ha– 110. “Yo ca vassasata½ j²ve, duss²lo asam±hito;

Desan±vas±ne te pañcasat±pi bhikkh³ saha paµisambhid±hi arahatta½ p±puºi½su, sampattamah±janass±pi s±tthik± dhammadesan± ahos²ti. Aparena samayena sa½kicco upasampada½ labhitv± dasavasso hutv± s±maºera½ gaºhi. So pana tasseva bh±gineyyo adhimuttas±maºero n±ma. Atha na½ thero paripuººavassak±le ±mantetv± “upasampada½ te kariss±mi, gaccha, ñ±tak±na½ santike vassaparim±ºa½ pucchitv± eh²”ti uyyojesi. So m±t±pit³na½ santika½ gacchanto antar±magge pañcasatehi corehi balikammatth±ya m±riyam±no tesa½ dhamma½ desetv± pasannacittehi tehi “na te imasmi½ µh±ne amh±ka½ atthibh±vo kassaci ±rocetabbo”ti vissaµµho paµipathe m±t±pitaro ±gacchante disv± tameva magga½ paµipajjant±nampi tesa½ saccamanurakkhanto n±rocesi. Tesa½ corehi viheµhiyam±n±na½ “tvampi corehi saddhi½ ekato hutv± maññe, amh±ka½ n±roces²”ti paridevant±na½ sadda½ sutv± te m±t±pit³nampi an±rocitabh±va½ ñatv± pasannacitt± pabbajja½ y±ci½su.
