Tena kho pana samayena khem± bhikkhun² kosalesu c±rika½ caram±n± antar± ca s±vatthi½ antar± ca s±keta½ toraºavatthusmi½ v±sa½ upagat± hoti. Atha kho r±j± pasenadi kosalo s±ket± s±vatthi½ gacchanto, antar± ca s±keta½ antar± ca s±vatthi½ toraºavatthusmi½ ekarattiv±sa½ upagacchi. Atha kho r±j± pasenadi kosalo aññatara½ purisa½ ±mantesi– “ehi tva½, ambho purisa, toraºavatthusmi½ tath±r³pa½ samaºa½ v± br±hmaºa½ v± j±na yamaha½ ajja payirup±seyyan”ti. “Eva½, dev±”ti kho so puriso rañño pasenadissa kosalassa paµissutv± kevalakappa½ toraºavatthu½ ±hiº¹anto [anv±hiº¹anto (s².)] n±ddasa tath±r³pa½ samaºa½ v± br±hmaºa½ v± ya½ r±j± pasenadi kosalo payirup±seyya. Addas± kho so puriso khema½ bhikkhuni½ toraºavatthusmi½ v±sa½ upagata½. Disv±na yena r±j± pasenadi kosalo tenupasaªkami; upasaªkamitv± r±j±na½ pasenadi½ kosala½ etadavoca– “Natthi kho, deva, toraºavatthusmi½ tath±r³po samaºo v± br±hmaºo v± ya½ devo payirup±seyya. Atthi ca kho, deva, khem± n±ma bhikkhun², tassa bhagavato s±vik± arahato samm±sambuddhassa. Tass± kho pana ayy±ya eva½ kaly±ºo kittisaddo abbhuggato ‘paº¹it±, viyatt± medh±vin² bahussut± cittakath± kaly±ºapaµibh±n±’ti. Ta½ devo payirup±sat³”ti. Atha kho r±j± pasenadi kosalo yena khem± bhikkhun² tenupasaªkami; upasaªkamitv± khema½ bhikkhuni½ abhiv±detv± ekamanta½ nis²di. Yath± te khameyya tath± na½ by±kareyy±si. Acchariya½, bhante, abbhuta½, bhante! Yatra hi n±ma satthu ceva s±vik±ya ca atthena attho byañjanena byañjana½ sa½sandissati, samessati, na virodhayissati yadida½ aggapadasmi½.
