343. Eka½ samaya½ sambahul± ther± bhikkh³ macchik±saº¹e viharanti amb±µakavane. Tena kho pana samayena sambahul±na½ ther±na½ bhikkh³na½ pacch±bhatta½ piº¹ap±tapaµikkant±na½ maº¹alam±¼e sannisinn±na½ sannipatit±na½ ayamantar±kath± udap±di– “‘sa½yojanan’ti v±, ±vuso, ‘sa½yojaniy± dhamm±’ti v± ime dhamm± n±natth± n±n±byañjan± ud±hu ekatth± byañjanameva n±nan”ti? Tatrekaccehi therehi bhikkh³hi eva½ by±kata½ hoti– “‘sa½yojanan’ti v±, ±vuso, ‘sa½yojaniy± dhamm±’ti v± ime dhamm± n±natth± ceva n±n±byañjan± c±”ti. Ekaccehi therehi bhikkh³hi eva½ by±kata½ hoti– “‘sa½yojanan’ti v±, ±vuso, ‘sa½yojaniy± dhamm±’ti v± ime dhamm± ekatth± byañjanameva n±nan”ti.
Tena kho pana samayena citto gahapati migapathaka½ anuppatto hoti kenacideva karaº²yena. Assosi kho citto gahapati sambahul±na½ kira ther±na½ bhikkh³na½ pacch±bhatta½ piº¹ap±tapaµikkant±na½ maº¹alam±¼e sannisinn±na½ sannipatit±na½ ayamantar±kath± udap±di– “‘sa½yojanan’ti v±, ±vuso, ‘sa½yojaniy± dhamm±’ti v± ime dhamm± n±natth± n±n±byañjan± ud±hu ekatth± byañjanameva n±nan”ti? Atha kho citto gahapati yena ther± bhikkh³ tenupasaªkami; upasaªkamitv± there bhikkh³ abhiv±detv± ekamanta½ nis²di. Ekamanta½ nisinno kho citto gahapati there bhikkh³ etadavoca– “suta½ meta½, bhante, sambahul±na½ kira ther±na½ bhikkh³na½ pacch±bhatta½ piº¹ap±tapaµikkant±na½ maº¹alam±¼e sannisinn±na½ sannipatit±na½ ayamantar±kath± udap±di– ‘sa½yojanan’ti v±, ±vuso, ‘sa½yojaniy± dhamm±’ti v± ime dhamm± n±natth± n±n±byañjan± ud±hu ekatth± byañjanameva n±nan”ti? Ekaccehi therehi bhikkh³hi eva½ by±kata½– “‘sa½yojanan’ti v±, ±vuso, ‘sa½yojaniy± dhamm±’ti v± ime dhamm± n±natth± ceva n±n±byañjan± c±”ti. Ekaccehi therehi bhikkh³hi eva½ by±kata½ “‘sa½yojanan’ti v±, ±vuso, ‘sa½yojaniy± dhamm±’ti v± ime dhamm± ekatth± byañjanameva n±nan”ti. “Eva½, gahapat²”ti.
“‘Sa½yojanan’ti v±, bhante, ‘sa½yojaniy± dhamm±’ti v± ime dhamm± n±natth± ceva n±n±byañjan± ca. Tena hi, bhante, upama½ vo kariss±mi. Upam±yapidhekacce viññ³ puris± bh±sitassa attha½ ±j±nanti. Seyyath±pi, bhante, k±¼o ca bal²baddo od±to ca bal²baddo ekena d±mena v± yottena v± sa½yutt± assu. Yo nu kho eva½ vadeyya– ‘k±¼o bal²baddo od±tassa bal²baddassa sa½yojana½ od±to bal²baddo k±¼assa bal²baddassa sa½yojanan’ti, samm± nu kho so vadam±no vadeyy±”ti? “No heta½, gahapati! Na kho, gahapati, k±¼o bal²baddo od±tassa bal²baddassa sa½yojana½, napi od±to bal²baddo k±¼assa ba¼²baddassa sa½yojana½; yena kho te ekena d±mena v± yottena v± sa½yutt± ta½ tattha sa½yojanan”ti. “Evameva kho, bhante, na cakkhu r³p±na½ sa½yojana½, na r³p± cakkhussa sa½yojana½; yañca tattha tadubhaya½ paµicca uppajjati chandar±go ta½ tattha sa½yojana½. Na sota½ sadd±na½… na gh±na½ gandh±na½… na jivh± ras±na½… na k±yo phoµµhabb±na½ sa½yojana½, na phoµµhabb± k±yassa sa½yojana½; yañca tattha tadubhaya½ paµicca uppajjati chandar±go ta½ tattha sa½yojana½. Na mano dhamm±na½ sa½yojana½, na dhamm± manassa sa½yojana½; yañca tattha tadubhaya½ paµicca uppajjati chandar±go ta½ tattha sa½yojanan”ti. “L±bh± te, gahapati, suladdha½ te, gahapati, yassa te gambh²re buddhavacane paññ±cakkhu kamat²”ti.
