Tattha ca pañcaªgika½ paµhama½, caturaªgika½ dutiya½, tivaªgika½ tatiya½, duvaªgika½ catuttha½, duvaªgikameva pañcama½ jh±na½ deses²ti aya½ desan±vil±so. Ettha ca pañcakanaye dutiyajjh±na½ catukkanaye dutiyajjh±napakkhika½ katv± vibhatta½ “yasmi½ samaye r³p³papattiy± magga½ bh±veti avitakka½ vic±ramatta½ sam±dhija½ p²tisukha½ dutiya½ jh±na½ upasampajja viharat²”ti (dha. sa. 168). Kasm±? Ekattak±yan±nattasaññ²satt±v±saphalat±ya dutiyajjh±nena sam±naphalatt±, paµhamajjh±nasam±dhito j±tatt± ca. Paµhamajjh±nameva hi “k±mehi akusalehi ca vivittan”ti tadabh±v± na idha “vivicceva k±mehi vivicca akusaleh²”ti sakk± vattu½, n±pi “vivekajan”ti. Evañca katv± suttantadesan±yapi pañcakanayo labbhatev±ti siddha½ hoti. Nanu suttante catt±riyeva jh±n±ni vibhatt±n²ti pañcakanayo na labbhat²ti? Na, “savitakkasavic±ro sam±dh²”ti-±din± (d². ni. 3.305) sam±dhittay±padesena pañcakanayassa labbham±natt±. Catukkanayanissito pana katv± pañcakanayo vibhattoti suttantadesan±yapi pañcakanayo niddh±retabbo. “Vitakkavic±r±na½ v³pasam±”ti hi vitakkassa, vic±rassa, vitakkavic±r±nañca “vitakkavic±r±nan”ti sakk± vattu½. Tath± “avitakka½, avic±ran”ti ca vin±, saha ca vic±rena vitakkappah±nena avitakka½, saha, vin± ca vitakkena vic±rappah±nena avic±ranti avitakka½, avic±ra½, avitakkañca avic±rañc±ti v± tividhampi sakk± saªgahetu½.
Dutiyanti ca vitakkarahite, vitakkavic±radvayarahite ca ñ±y±gat± desan± dutiya½ adhigantabbatt±, vic±ramattarahitepi dvayappah±n±dhigatasam±nadhammatt±. Evañca katv± pañcakanayaniddese dutiye v³pasantopi vitakko sah±yabh³tavic±r±v³pasamena na samm± v³pasantoti vitakkavic±radvayarahite viya vic±rav³pasameneva tadupasama½, sesadhamm±na½ sam±natañca dassentena “vitakkavic±r±na½ v³pasam± ajjhatta½ sampas±dana½ cetaso ekodibh±va½ avitakka½ avic±ra½ sam±dhija½ p²tisukha½ tatiya½ jh±na½ upasampajja viharat²”ti tatiya½ catukkanaye dutiyena nibbisesa½ vibhatta½. Duvidhass±pi sah±yavirahena, aññath± ca vitakkappah±nena avitakkatta½, sam±dhija½ p²tisukhattañca sam±nanti sam±nadhammatt±pi dutiyanti niddeso Vic±ramattampi hi vitakkavic±radvayarahita½ viya “yasmi½ samaye r³p³papattiy± magga½ bh±veti avitakka½ vic±ramatta½ sam±dhija½ p²tisukha½ dutiya½ jh±na½ upasampajja viharat²”ti (dha. sa. 168) avitakka½ sam±dhija½ p²tisukhanti vibhatta½. Paµhamajjh±ne v± sahac±r²su vitakkavic±resu eka½ atikkamitv± dutiyampi tatraµµhameva dosato disv± ubhayampi sah±tikkamantassa pañcakanaye tatiya½ vutta½, tatiya½ adhigantabbatt±.
