2. Mah±kassapattheravatthu

Uyyuñjant²ti ima½ dhammadesana½ satth± ve¼uvane viharanto mah±kassapatthera½ ±rabbha kathesi.
Ekasmiñhi samaye satth± r±jagahe vuµµhavasso “addham±saccayena c±rika½ pakkamiss±m²”ti bhikkh³na½ ±roc±pesi. Vatta½ kireta½ buddh±na½ bhikkh³hi saddhi½ c±rika½ carituk±m±na½ “eva½ bhikkh³ attano pattapacanac²vararajan±d²ni katv± sukha½ gamissant²”ti “id±ni addham±saccayena c±rika½ pakkamiss±m²”ti bhikkh³na½ ±roc±pana½. Bhikkh³su pana attano pattac²var±d²ni karontesu mah±kassapattheropi c²var±ni dhovi. Bhikkh³ ujjh±yi½su “thero kasm± c²var±ni dhovati, imasmi½ nagare anto ca bahi ca aµµh±rasa manussakoµiyo vasanti Tattha ye therassa na ñ±tak±, te upaµµh±k±, ye na upaµµh±k±, te ñ±tak±. Te therassa cat³hi paccayehi samm±nasakk±ra½ karonti. Ettaka½ upak±ra½ pah±ya esa kaha½ gamissati? Sacepi gaccheyya, m±pam±dakandarato para½ na gamissat²”ti. Satth± kira ya½ kandara½ patv± nivattetabbayuttake bhikkh³ “tumhe ito nivattatha, m± pamajjitth±”ti vadati. Ta½ “m±pam±dakandaran”ti vuccati, ta½ sandh±yeta½ vutta½.
Satth±pi c±rika½ pakkamanto cintesi– “imasmi½ nagare anto ca bahi ca aµµh±rasa manussakoµiyo vasanti. Manuss±na½ maªgal±maªgalaµµh±nesu bhikkh³hi gantabba½ hoti, na sakk± vih±ra½ tuccha½ k±tu½, ka½ nu kho nivattess±m²”ti? Athassa etadahosi–“kassapassa hete manuss± ñ±tak± ca upaµµh±k± ca, kassapa½ nivattetu½ vaµµat²”ti. So thera½ ±ha– “kassapa, na sakk± vih±ra½ tuccha½ k±tu½, manuss±na½ maªgal±maªgalaµµh±nesu bhikkh³hi attho hoti, tva½ attano paris±ya saddhi½ nivattass³”ti. “S±dhu, bhante”ti thero parisa½ ±d±ya nivatti. Bhikkh³ upajjh±yi½su “diµµha½ vo, ±vuso, nanu id±neva amhehi vutta½ ‘mah±kassapo kasm± c²var±ni dhovati, na eso satth±r± saddhi½ gamissat²’ti, ya½ amhehi vutta½, tadeva j±tan”ti. Satth± bhikkh³na½ katha½ sutv± nivattitv± µhito ±ha– “bhikkhave, ki½ n±meta½ katheth±”ti? “Mah±kassapatthera½ ±rabbha kathema, bhante”ti attan± kathitaniy±meneva sabba½ ±rocesu½. Ta½ sutv± satth± “na, bhikkhave, tumhe kassapa½ ‘kulesu ca paccayesu ca laggo’ti vadetha, so ‘mama vacana½ kariss±m²’ti nivatto. Eso hi pubbe patthana½ karontoyeva ‘cat³su paccayesu alaggo cand³pamo hutv± kul±ni upasaªkamitu½ samattho bhaveyyan’ti patthana½ ak±si. Natthetassa kule v± paccaye v± laggo, aha½ candopamappaµipadañceva (sa½. ni. 2.146) ariyava½sappaµipadañca kathento mama putta½ kassapa½ ±di½ katv± kathesin”ti ±ha.
Bhikkh³ satth±ra½ pucchi½su– “bhante, kad± pana therena patthan± µhapit±”ti? “Sotuk±m±ttha, bhikkhave”ti? “¾ma, bhante”ti. Satth± tesa½, “bhikkhave, ito kappasatasahassamatthake padumuttaro n±ma buddho loke udap±d²”ti vatv± padumuttarap±dam³le tena µhapitapatthana½ ±di½ katv± sabba½ therassa pubbacarita½ kathesi. Ta½ therap±¼iya½ (therag±. 1054 ±dayo) vitth±ritameva. Satth± pana ima½ therassa pubbacarita½ vitth±retv± “iti kho, bhikkhave, aha½ candopamappaµipadañceva ariyava½sappaµipadañca mama putta½ kassapa½ ±di½ katv± kathesi½, mama puttassa kassapassa paccayesu v± kulesu v± vih±resu v± pariveºesu v± laggo n±ma natthi pallale otaritv± tattha caritv± gacchanto r±jaha½so viya katthaci alaggoyeva mama putto”ti anusandhi½ ghaµetv± dhamma½ desento ima½ g±tham±ha–
91. “Uyyuñjanti sat²manto, na nikete ramanti te;
ha½s±va pallala½ hitv±, okamoka½ jahanti te”ti.
Tattha uyyuñjanti sat²mantoti sativepullappatt± kh²º±sav± attan± paµividdhaguºesu jh±navipassan±d²su ±vajjanasam±pajjanavuµµh±n±dhiµµh±napaccavekkhaº±hi yuñjanti ghaµenti. Na nikete ramanti teti tesa½ ±laye rati n±ma natthi. Ha½s±v±ti desan±s²sameta½, aya½ panettha attho– yath± gocarasampanne pallale sakuº± attano gocara½ gahetv± gamanak±le “mama udaka½, mama paduma½, mama uppala½, mama kaººik±”ti tasmi½ µh±ne kañci ±laya½ akatv± anapekkh±va ta½ µh±na½ pah±ya uppatitv± ±k±se k²¼am±n± gacchanti; evameva½ kh²º±sav± yattha katthaci viharant±pi kul±d²su alagg± eva viharitv± gamanasamayepi ta½ µh±na½ pah±ya gacchant± “mama vih±ro, mama pariveºa½, mam³paµµh±k±”ti an±lay± anupekkh±va gacchanti. Okamokanti ±lay±laya½, sabb±laye pariccajant²ti attho.
