Madhuv± maññat²ti ima½ dhammadesana½ satth± jetavane viharanto uppalavaººattheri½ ±rabbha kathesi. S± kira padumuttarabuddhassa p±dam³le patthana½ paµµhapetv± kappasatasahassa½ puññ±ni kurum±n± devesu ca manussesu ca sa½sarant² imasmi½ buddhupp±de devalokato cavitv± s±vatthiya½ seµµhikule paµisandhi½ gaºhi. N²luppalagabbhasam±navaººat±ya cass± uppalavaºº±tveva n±ma½ aka½su. Athass± vayappattak±le sakalajambud²pe r±j±no ca seµµhino ca seµµhissa santika½ s±sana½ pahiºi½su– “dh²tara½ amh±ka½ det³”ti Apahiºanto n±ma n±hosi. Tato seµµhi cintesi– “aha½ sabbesa½ mana½ gahetu½ na sakkhiss±mi, up±ya½ paneka½ kariss±m²”ti dh²tara½ pakkos±petv±, “amma, pabbajitu½ sakkhissas²”ti ±ha. Tass± pacchimabhavikatt± ta½ vacana½ s²se ±sitta½ satap±katela½ viya ahosi. Tasm± pitara½ “pabbajiss±mi, t±t±”ti ±ha. So tass± mahanta½ sakk±ra½ katv± bhikkhun²-upassaya½ netv± pabb±jesi Tass± acirapabbajit±ya eva uposath±g±re k±lav±ro p±puºi. S± d²pa½ j±letv± uposath±g±ra½ sammajjitv± d²pasikh±ya nimitta½ gaºhitv± µhit±va punappuna½ olokayam±n± tejokasiº±rammaºa½ jh±na½ nibbattetv± tameva p±daka½ katv± arahatta½ p±puºi saddhi½ paµisambhid±hi ceva abhiññ±hi ca. S± aparena samayena janapadac±rika½ caritv± pacc±gantv± andhavana½ p±visi. Tad± bhikkhun²na½ araññav±so appaµikkhitto hoti. Athass± tattha kuµika½ katv± mañcaka½ paññ±petv± s±ºiy± parikkhipi½su. S± s±vatthiya½ piº¹±ya pavisitv± nikkhami. M±tulaputto panass± nandam±ºavo n±ma gihik±lato paµµh±ya paµibaddhacitto. So tass± ±gatabh±va½ sutv± theriy± ±gamanato puretarameva andhavana½ gantv± ta½ kuµika½ pavisitv± heµµh±mañcake nil²no theriy± ±gantv± kuµika½ pavisitv± dv±ra½ pidh±ya mañcake nisinnamatt±ya bahi ±tapato ±gatatt± cakkhupathe andhak±re avigateyeva heµµh±mañcakato nikkhamitv± mañcaka½ abhiruyha “m± nassi b±la, m± nassi b±l±”ti theriy± v±riyam±noyeva abhibhavitv± attan± patthitakamma½ katv± p±y±si. Athassa aguºa½ dh±retu½ asakkont² viya mah±pathav² dvedh± bhijji. So pathavi½ paviµµho gantv± mah±-av²cimhi eva nibbatti. Ther²pi tamattha½ bhikkhun²na½ ±rocesi. Bhikkhuniyo bhikkh³na½ etamattha½ ±rocesu½. Bhikkh³ bhagavato ±rocayi½su. Ta½ sutv± satth± bhikkh³ ±mantetv±, “bhikkhave, bhikkhubhikkh³n² up±saka-up±sik±su yo koci b±lo p±pakamma½ karonto madhusakkhar±d²su kiñci deva madhurarasa½ kh±dam±no puriso viya tuµµhahaµµho udaggudaggo viya karot²”ti anusandhi½ ghaµetv± dhamma½ desento ima½ g±tham±ha– 69. “Madhuv± maññati b±lo, y±va p±pa½ na paccati;
yad± ca paccati p±pa½, b±lo dukkha½ nigacchat²”ti.
Tattha madhuv±ti b±lassa hi p±pa½ akusalakamma½ karontassa ta½ kamma½ madhu viya madhurarasa½ viya iµµha½ kanta½ man±pa½ viya upaµµh±ti. Iti na½ so madhu½va maññati. Y±v±ti yattaka½ k±la½. P±pa½ na paccat²ti diµµhadhamme v± sampar±ye v± vip±ka½ na deti, t±va na½ eva½ maññati. Yad± c±ti yad± panassa diµµhadhamme v± vividh± kammak±raº± kayiram±nassa, sampar±ye v± niray±d²su mah±dukkha½ anubhavantassa ta½ p±pa½ paccati, atha so b±lo dukkha½ nigacchati vindati paµilabhat²ti. Desan±vas±ne bah³ sot±pattiphal±d²ni p±puºi½su. Aparena pana samayena dhammasabh±ya½ mah±jano katha½ samuµµh±pesi “kh²º±sav±pi maññe k±masukha½ s±diyanti, k±ma½ sevanti, ki½ na sevissanti, na hi ete ko¼±parukkh±, na ca vammik± allama½sasar²r±va, tasm± etepi k±masukha½ s±diyanti, k±ma½ sevant²”ti. Satth± ±gantv± “k±ya nuttha, bhikkhave, etarahi kath±ya sannisinn±”ti pucchitv± “im±ya n±m±”ti vutte, “na, bhikkhave, kh²º±sav± k±masukha½ s±diyanti, na k±ma½ sevanti. Yath± hi padumapatte patita½ udakabindu, na vilimpati, na saºµh±ti, vinivattetv± patateva, yath± ca ±ragge s±sapo na vilimpati, na saºµh±ti, vinivattetv± patateva, eva½ kh²º±savassa citte duvidhopi k±mo na vilimpati, na saºµh±t²”ti anusandhi½ ghaµetv± dhamma½ desento ima½ br±hmaºavagge g±tham±ha–
“V±ri pokkharapatteva, ±raggeriva s±sapo;
yo na limpati k±mesu, tamaha½ br³mi br±hmaºan”ti. (Dha. pa. 401).
Imiss± attho br±hmaºavaggeyeva ±vi bhavissati. Satth± pana r±j±na½ pasenadikosala½ pakkos±petv±, “mah±r±ja, imasmi½ s±sane yatheva kulaputt±, eva½ kuladh²taropi mahanta½ ñ±tigaºañca bhogakkhandhañca pah±ya pabbajitv± araññe viharanti. T± eva½ viharam±n± r±garatt± p±papuggal± om±n±tim±navasena viheµhentipi, brahmacariyantar±yampi p±penti, tasm± bhikkhunisaªghassa antonagare vasanaµµh±na½ k±tu½ vaµµat²”ti. R±j± “s±dh³”ti sampaµicchitv± nagarassa ekapasse bhikkhunisaªghassa vasanaµµh±na½ k±r±pesi. Tato paµµh±ya bhikkhuniyo antog±meyeva vasant²ti.
