Tatr±ya½ anupubb² kath±– at²te eko b±r±ºasiv±s² v±ºijo “paccanta½ gantv± candana½ ±hariss±m²”ti bah³ni vatth±bharaº±d²ni gahetv± pañcahi sakaµasatehi paccanta½ gantv± g±madv±re niv±sa½ gahetv± aµaviya½ gop±lad±rake pucchi– “imasmi½ g±me pabbatap±dakammiko koci manusso atth²”ti? “¾ma, atth²”ti. “Ko n±meso”ti? “Asuko n±m±”ti. “Bhariy±ya panassa putt±na½ v± ki½n±man”ti? “Idañcidañc±”ti. “Kaha½ panassa µh±ne gehan”ti? “Asukaµµh±ne n±m±”ti. So “s±dh³”ti vatv± k±lena k±la½ tassa santika½ ±gacchanto rattacandanameva ±harati, sopissa bahudhana½ deti. Tato aparena samayena parinibbute kassapadasabale patiµµhite kañcanath³pe so puriso bahu½ candana½ ±d±ya b±r±ºasi½ agam±si. Br±hmaº± cintayi½su– “sakk± amhehi ima½ gahetv± loka½ kh±ditun”ti. Ta½ y±ne nis²d±petv± “yo imassa sar²ra½ hatthena par±masati, so evar³pa½ n±ma issariyasampatti½ labhat²”ti vatv± vicari½su. Sata½ v± sahassa½ v± dadam±n± eva tassa sar²ra½ hatthena phusitu½ labhanti. Te eva½ anuvicarant± s±vatthi½ anuppatt± nagarassa ca vih±rassa ca antar± niv±sa½ gaºhi½su. S±vatthiyampi pañcakoµimatt± ariyas±vak± purebhatta½ d±na½ datv± pacch±bhatta½ gandham±lavatthabhesajj±dihatth± dhammassavan±ya gacchanti. Br±hmaº± te disv± “kaha½ gacchath±”ti pucchi½su. Satthu santika½ dhammassavan±y±ti. Etha tattha gantv± ki½ karissatha, amh±ka½ cand±bhassa br±hmaºassa ±nubh±vasadiso ±nubh±vo natthi. Etassa hi sar²ra½ phusant± ida½ n±ma labhanti, etha passatha nanti. Tumh±ka½ cand±bhassa br±hmaºassa ko ±nubh±vo n±ma, amh±ka½ satth±yeva mah±nubh±voti. Te aññamañña½ saññ±petu½ asakkont± “vih±ra½ gantv± cand±bhassa v± amh±ka½ v± satthu ±nubh±va½ j±niss±m±”ti ta½ gahetv± vih±ra½ agama½su. Satth± tasmi½ attano santika½ upasaªkamanteyeva cand±bh±ya antaradh±na½ ak±si. So satthu santike aªg±rapacchiya½ k±ko viya ahosi. Atha na½ ekamanta½ nayi½su, ±bh± paµip±katik± ahosi. Puna satthu santika½ ±nayi½su, ±bh± tatheva antaradh±yi. Eva½ tikkhattu½ gantv± antaradh±yam±na½ ±bha½ disv± cand±bho cintesi– “aya½ ±bh±ya antaradh±namanta½ j±n±ti maññe”ti. So satth±ra½ pucchi– “ki½ nu kho ±bh±ya antaradh±namanta½ j±n±th±”ti? ¾ma, j±n±m²ti. Tena hi me deth±ti. Na sakk± apabbajitassa d±tunti. So br±hmaºe ±ha– “etasmi½ mante gahite aha½ sakalajambud²pe jeµµhako bhaviss±mi, tumhe ettheva hotha, aha½ pabbajitv± katip±heneva manta½ gaºhiss±m²”ti. So satth±ra½ pabbajja½ y±citv± upasampajji. Athassa dvatti½s±k±ra½ ±cikkhi. So “ki½ idan”ti pucchi. Ida½ mantassa parikamma½ sajjh±yitu½ vaµµat²ti. Br±hmaº±pi antarantar± ±gantv± “gahito te manto”ti pucchanti. Na t±va gaºh±m²ti. So katip±heneva arahatta½ patv± br±hmaºehi ±gantv± pucchitak±le “y±tha tumhe, id±n±ha½ an±gamanadhammo j±to”ti ±ha. Bhikkh³ tath±gatassa ±rocesu½– “aya½, bhante, abh³ta½ vatv± añña½ by±karot²”ti. Satth± “kh²º±savo id±ni, bhikkhave, mama putto cand±bho, bh³tamevesa kathet²”ti vatv± ima½ g±tham±ha– 413. “Canda½va vimala½ suddha½, vippasannaman±vila½;
nand²bhavaparikkh²ºa½, tamaha½ br³mi br±hmaºan”ti.
Tattha vimalanti abbh±dimalarahita½. Suddhanti nirupakkilesa½. Vippasannanti pasannacitta½. An±vilanti kiles±vilattarahita½. Nand²bhavaparikkh²ºanti t²su bhavesu parikkh²ºataºha½ tamaha½ br±hmaºa½ vad±m²ti attho. Desan±vas±ne bah³ sot±pattiphal±d²ni p±puºi½s³ti.
