Ek± kira br±hmaº² catunna½ bhikkh³na½ uddesabhatta½ sajjetv± br±hmaºa½ ±ha– “vih±ra½ gantv± catt±ro mahallakabr±hmaºe uddis±petv± ±neh²”ti. So vih±ra½ gantv± “catt±ro me br±hmaºe uddisitv± deth±”ti ±ha. Tassa sa½kicco paº¹ito sop±ko revatoti sattavassik± catt±ro kh²º±savas±maºer± p±puºi½su. Br±hmaº² mah±rah±ni ±san±ni paññ±petv± µhit± s±maºere disv±va kupit± uddhane pakkhittaloºa½ viya taµataµ±yam±n± “tva½ vih±ra½ gantv± attano nattumattepi appahonte catt±ro kum±rake gahetv± ±gatos²”ti vatv± tesa½ tesu ±sanesu nis²ditu½ adatv± n²cap²µhak±ni attharitv± “etesu nis²dath±”ti vatv± “gaccha, br±hmaºa, mahallake oloketv± ±neh²”ti ±ha. Thero ±gantv± s±maºere disv± “imehi br±hmaºehi bhatta½ laddhan”ti pucchitv± “na laddhan”ti vutte catunnameva bhattassa paµiyattabh±va½ ñatv± “±hara me pattan”ti patta½ gahetv± pakk±mi. S±maºer±pi p±tova paµµh±ya kiñci alabham±n± jighacch±ya p²¼it± nis²di½su. Atha nesa½ guºatejena sakkassa ±sana½ uºh±k±ra½ dassesi. So ±vajjento tesa½ p±tova paµµh±ya nisinn±na½ kilantabh±va½ ñatv± “may± tattha gantu½ vaµµat²”ti jar±jiººo mahallakabr±hmaºo hutv± tasmi½ br±hmaºav±dake br±hmaº±na½ agg±sane nis²di. Br±hmaºo ta½ disv± “id±ni me br±hmaº² attaman± bhavissat²”ti ehi geha½ gamiss±m±”ti ta½ ±d±ya geha½ agam±si. Br±hmaº² ta½ disv±va tuµµhacitt± dv²su ±sanesu attharaºa½ ekasmi½yeva attharitv±, “ayya, idha nis²d±h²”ti ±ha. Sakko geha½ pavisitv± catt±ro s±maºere pañcapatiµµhitena vanditv± tesa½ ±sanapariyante bh³miya½ pallaªkena nis²di. So khandhepi hatthepi kacch±yapi gahetv± nikka¹¹hiyam±no uµµh±tumpi na icchati. Atha na½ br±hmaº² “ehi, br±hmaºa, tva½ ekasmi½ hatthe gaºha, aha½ ekasmi½ hatthe gaºhiss±m²”ti ubhopi dv²su hatthesu gahetv± piµµhiya½ pothent± gehadv±rato bahi aka½su. Sakkopi nisinnaµµh±neyeva nisinno hattha½ parivattesi. Te nivattitv± ta½ nisinnameva disv± bh²tarava½ ravant± vissajjesu½. Tasmi½ khaºe sakko attano sakkabh±va½ j±n±pesi. Atha nesa½ ±h±ra½ ada½su. Pañcapi jan± ±h±ra½ gahetv± eko kaººik±maº¹ala½ vinivijjhitv±, eko chadanassa purimabh±ga½, eko pacchimabh±ga½, eko pathaviya½ nimujjitv±, sakkopi ekena µh±nena nikkham²ti eva½ pañcadh± agama½su Tato paµµh±ya ca pana ta½ geha½ pañcachiddageha½ kira n±ma j±ta½.
S±maºerepi vih±ra½ gatak±le bhikkh³, “±vuso, k²disan”ti pucchi½su. M± no pucchittha, amh±ka½ diµµhak±lato paµµh±ya br±hmaº² kodh±bhibh³t± paññatt±sanesu no nis²ditumpi adatv± “s²gha½ s²gha½ mahallakabr±hmaºa½ ±neh²”ti ±ha. Amh±ka½ upajjh±yo ±gantv± amhe disv± “imesa½ nisinnabr±hmaº±na½ laddhu½ vaµµat²”ti patta½ ±har±petv± nikkhami. “Añña½ mahallaka½ br±hmaºa½ ±nes²”ti vutte br±hmaºo mah±moggall±natthera½ ±nesi, sopi amhe disv± tatheva vatv± pakk±mi. Atha br±hmaº² “na ete bhuñjituk±m±, gaccha br±hmaºav±dakato eka½ mahallakabr±hmaºa½ ±neh²”ti br±hmaºa½ pahiºi. So tattha gantv± br±hmaºavesena ±gata½ sakka½ ±nesi, tassa ±gatak±le amh±ka½ ±h±ra½ ada½s³ti. Eva½ karont±na½ pana tesa½ tumhe na kujjhitth±ti? Na kujjhimh±ti. Bhikkh³ ta½ sutv± satthu ±rocesu½– “bhante, ime ‘na kujjhimh±’ti abh³ta½ vatv± añña½ by±karont²”ti. Satth±, “bhikkhave, kh²º±sav± n±ma viruddhesupi na virujjhantiyev±”ti vatv± ima½ g±tham±ha–

Tattha aviruddhanti ±gh±tavasena viruddhesupi lokiyamah±janesu ±gh±t±bh±vena aviruddha½. Hatthagate daº¹e v± satthe v± avijjam±nepi paresa½ pah±rad±nato aviratatt± attadaº¹esu janesu nibbuta½ nikkhittadaº¹a½, pañcanna½ khandh±na½ aha½ mamanti gahitatt± s±d±nesu tassa gahaºassa abh±vena an±d±na½ ta½ evar³pa½ aha½ br±hmaºa½ vad±m²ti attho.
