“Paµhamassa jh±nassa paµipad±visuddhi ±di, upekkh±nubr³han± majjhe, sampaha½san± pariyos±na½, paµhamassa jh±nassa paµipad±visuddhi ±di, ±dissa kati lakkhaº±ni? ¾dissa t²ºi lakkhaº±ni, yo tassa paribandho, tato citta½ visujjhati, visuddhatt± citta½ majjhima½ samathanimitta½ paµipajjati, paµipannatt± tattha citta½ pakkhandati. Yañca paribandhato citta½ visujjhati, yañca visuddhatt± citta½ majjhima½ samathanimitta½ paµipajjati, yañca paµipannatt± tattha citta½ pakkhandati. Paµhamassa jh±nassa paµipad±visuddhi ±di, ±dissa im±ni t²ºi lakkhaº±ni. Tena vuccati paµhama½ jh±na½ ±dikaly±ºañceva hoti tilakkhaºasampannañca.
“Paµhamassa jh±nassa upekkh±nubr³han± majjhe, majjhassa kati lakkhaº±ni? Majjhassa t²ºi lakkhaº±ni, visuddha½ citta½ ajjhupekkhati, samathapaµipanna½ ajjhupekkhati, ekattupaµµh±na½ ajjhupekkhati. Yañca visuddha½ citta½ ajjhupekkhati, yañca samathapaµipanna½ ajjhupekkhati, yañca ekattupaµµh±na½ ajjhupekkhati. Paµhamassa jh±nassa upekkh±nubr³han± majjhe, majjhassa im±ni t²ºi lakkhaº±ni. Tena vuccati paµhama½ jh±na½ majjhekaly±ºañceva hoti tilakkhaºasampannañca.
“Paµhamassa jh±nassa sampaha½san± pariyos±na½, pariyos±nassa kati lakkhaº±ni? Pariyos±nassa catt±ri lakkhaº±ni, tattha j±t±na½ dhamm±na½ anativattanaµµhena sampaha½san±, indriy±na½ ekarasaµµhena sampaha½san±, tadupagav²riyav±hanaµµhena sampaha½san±, ±sevanaµµhena sampaha½san±. Paµhamassa jh±nassa sampaha½san± pariyos±na½, pariyos±nassa im±ni catt±ri lakkhaº±ni. Tena vuccati paµhama½ jh±na½ pariyos±nakaly±ºañceva hoti catulakkhaºasampannañc±”ti (paµi. ma. 1.158).
Tatra paµipad±visuddhi n±ma sasambh±riko upac±ro. Upekkh±nubr³han± n±ma appan±. Sampaha½san± n±ma paccavekkhaº±ti evameke vaººayanti. Yasm± pana “ekattagata½ citta½ paµipad±visuddhipakkhandañceva hoti upekkh±nubr³hitañca ñ±ºena ca sampaha½sitan”ti (paµi. ma. 1.158) p±¼iya½ vutta½, tasm± anto-appan±yameva ±gamanavasena paµipad±visuddhi, tatramajjhattupekkh±ya kiccavasena upekkh±nubr³han±, dhamm±na½ anativattan±dibh±vas±dhanena pariyod±pakassa ñ±ºassa kiccanipphattivasena sampaha½san± ca veditabb±. Katha½? Yasmiñhi v±re appan± uppajjati, tasmi½ yo n²varaºasaªkh±to kilesagaºo tassa jh±nassa paribandho, tato citta½ visujjhati. Visuddhatt± ±varaºavirahita½ hutv± majjhima½ samathanimitta½ paµipajjati. Majjhima½ samathanimitta½ n±ma samappavatto appan±sam±dhiyeva. Tadanantara½ pana purimacitta½ ekasantatipariº±manayena tathattamupagaccham±na½ majjhima½ samathanimitta½ paµipajjati n±ma, eva½ paµipannatt± tathattupagamanena tattha pakkhandati n±ma. Eva½ t±va purimacitte vijjam±n±k±ranipph±dik± paµhamassa jh±nassa upp±dakkhaºeyeva ±gamanavasena paµipad±visuddhi veditabb±. Eva½ visuddhassa pana tassa puna visodhetabb±bh±vato visodhane by±p±ra½ akaronto visuddha½ citta½ ajjhupekkhati n±ma. Samathabh±vupagamanena samathapaµipannassa puna sam±dh±ne by±p±ra½ akaronto samathapaµipanna½ ajjhupekkhati n±ma. Samathapaµipannabh±vato eva cassa kilesasa½sagga½ pah±ya ekattena upaµµhitassa puna ekattupaµµh±ne by±p±ra½ akaronto ekattupaµµh±na½ ajjhupekkhati n±ma. Eva½ tatramajjhattupekkh±ya kiccavasena upekkh±nubr³han± veditabb±. Ye panete eva½ upekkh±nubr³hite tattha j±t± sam±dhipaññ±saªkh±t± yuganaddhadhamm± aññamañña½ anativattam±n± hutv± pavatt±, y±ni ca saddh±d²ni indriy±ni n±n±kilesehi vimuttatt± vimuttirasena ekaras±ni hutv± pavatt±ni, yañcesa tadupaga½ tesa½ anativattana-ekarasabh±v±na½ anucchavika½ v²riya½ v±hayati, y± cassa tasmi½ khaºe pavatt± ±sevan±, sabbepi te ±k±r± yasm± ñ±ºena sa½kilesavod±nesu ta½ ta½ ±d²navañca ±nisa½sañca disv± tath± tath± sampaha½sitatt± visodhitatt± pariyod±pitatt± nipphann±va, tasm± “dhamm±na½ anativattan±dibh±vas±dhanena pariyod±pakassa ñ±ºassa kiccanipphattivasena sampaha½san± veditabb±”ti vutta½. Tattha yasm± upekkh±vasena ñ±ºa½ p±kaµa½ hoti. Yath±ha– “tath±paggahita½ citta½ s±dhuka½ ajjhupekkhati, upekkh±vasena paññ±vasena paññindriya½ adhimatta½ hoti, upekkh±vasena n±nattakilesehi citta½ vimuccati, vimokkhavasena paññ±vasena paññindriya½ adhimatta½ hoti. Vimuttatt± te dhamm± ekaras± honti. Ekarasaµµhena bh±van±”ti (paµi. ma. 1.201). Tasm± ñ±ºakiccabh³t± sampaha½san± pariyos±nanti vutt±. Id±ni paµhama½ jh±na½ adhigata½ hoti pathav²kasiºanti ettha gaºan±nupubbat± paµhama½, paµhama½ uppannantipi paµhama½. ¾rammaº³panijjh±nato paccan²kajh±panato v± jh±na½. Pathav²maº¹ala½ pana sakalaµµhena pathav²kasiºanti vuccati, ta½ niss±ya paµiladdhanimittampi, pathav²kasiºanimitte paµiladdhajh±nampi. Tatra imasmi½ atthe jh±na½ pathav²kasiºanti veditabba½. Ta½ sandh±ya vutta½ “paµhama½ jh±na½ adhigata½ hoti pathav²kasiºan”ti.
