Tena kho pana samayena ±yasm± yaso k±kaº¹akaputto vajj²su c±rika½ caram±no yena ves±l² tadavasari. Tatra suda½ ±yasm± yaso k±kaº¹akaputto ves±liya½ viharati mah±vane k³µ±g±ras±l±ya½. Tena kho pana samayena ves±lik± vajjiputtak± bhikkh³ tadahuposathe ka½sap±ti½ [ka½sac±µi½ (sy±.)] udakena p³retv± majjhe bhikkhusaªghassa µhapetv± ±gat±gate ves±like up±sake eva½ vadanti– “deth±vuso, saªghassa kah±paºampi a¹¹hampi p±dampi m±sakar³pampi. Bhavissati saªghassa parikkh±rena karaº²yan”ti. Eva½ vutte ±yasm± yaso k±kaº¹akaputto ves±like up±sake etadavoca– “m±vuso, adattha saªghassa kah±paºampi a¹¹hampi p±dampi m±sakar³pampi. Na kappati samaº±na½ sakyaputtiy±na½ j±tar³parajata½; na s±diyanti samaº± sakyaputtiy± j±tar³parajata½; na paµiggaºhanti samaº± sakyaputtiy± j±tar³parajata½; nikkhittamaºisuvaºº± samaº± sakyaputtiy± apetaj±tar³parajat±”ti. Atha kho ves±lik± vajjiputtak± bhikkh³ tass± rattiy± accayena ta½ hirañña½ bhikkhaggena [bhikkhuggena (sy±.)] paµiv²sa½ [paµivi½sa½ (s².), paµivisa½ (sy±.)] µhapetv± bh±jesu½. Atha kho ves±lik± vajjiputtak± bhikkh³ ±yasmanta½ yasa½ k±kaº¹akaputta½ etadavocu½– “eso te, ±vuso yasa, hiraññassa paµiv²so”ti. “Natthi, me ±vuso, hiraññassa paµiv²so, n±ha½ hirañña½ s±diy±m²”ti. Atha kho ves±lik± vajjiputtak± bhikkh³– “aya½ ±vuso yaso k±kaº¹akaputto up±sake saddhe pasanne akkosati, paribh±sati, appas±da½ karoti; handassa maya½ paµis±raº²yakamma½ karom±”ti te. Tassa paµis±raº²yakamma½ aka½su. Atha kho ±yasm± yaso k±kaº¹akaputto ves±like vajjiputtake bhikkh³ etadavoca– “bhagavat±, ±vuso, paññatta½– ‘paµis±raº²yakammakatassa bhikkhuno anud³to d±tabbo’ti. Detha me, ±vuso, anud³ta½ bhikkhun”ti.
Atha kho ves±lik± vajjiputtak± bhikkh³ eka½ bhikkhu½ sammannitv± ±yasmato yasassa k±kaº¹akaputtassa anud³ta½ ada½su. Atha kho ±yasm± yaso k±kaº¹akaputto anud³tena bhikkhun± saddhi½ ves±li½ pavisitv± ves±like up±sake etadavoca– “aha½ kir±yasmante up±sake saddhe pasanne akkos±mi, paribh±s±mi, appas±da½ karomi; yoha½ adhamma½ adhammoti vad±mi, dhamma½ dhammoti vad±mi, avinaya½ avinayoti vad±mi, vinaya½ vinayoti vad±mi.

Katame catt±ro? Abbha½, bhikkhave, candimas³riy±na½ upakkileso, yena upakkilesena upakkiliµµh± candimas³riy± na tapanti, na bh±santi na virocanti. Tena kho pana samayena r±jantepure r±japaris±ya½ sannisinn±na½ sannipatit±na½ ayamantarakath± udap±di– ‘kappati samaº±na½ sakyaputtiy±na½ j±tar³parajata½; s±diyanti samaº± sakyaputtiy± j±tar³parajata½; paµiggaºhanti samaº± sakyaputtiy± j±tar³parajatan’ti. Tena kho pan±vuso samayena, maºic³¼ako g±maº² tassa½ paris±ya½ nisinno hoti. Atha kho, ±vuso, maºic³¼ako g±maº² ta½ parisa½ etadavoca– ‘m± ayy± eva½ avacuttha. Eva½v±d² kir±ha½ ±yasmante up±sake saddhe pasanne akkos±mi, paribh±s±mi, appas±da½ karomi; yoha½ adhamma½ adhammoti vad±mi, dhamma½ dhammoti vad±mi, avinaya½ avinayoti vad±mi, vinaya½ vinayoti vad±m²”ti.
Eva½ vutte ves±lik± up±sak± ±yasmanta½ yasa½ k±kaº¹akaputta½ etadavocu½– “ekova bhante, ayyo yaso k±kaº¹akaputto samaºo sakyaputtiyo. Sabbevime assamaº± asakyaputtiy±. Vasatu, bhante, ayyo yaso k±kaº¹akaputto ves±liya½. Maya½ ayyassa yasassa k±kaº¹akaputtassa ussukka½ kariss±ma c²varapiº¹ap±tasen±sanagil±nappaccayabhesajjaparikkh±r±nan”ti. Atha kho ves±lik± vajjiputtak± bhikkh³ anud³ta½ bhikkhu½ pucchi½su– “kham±pit±vuso, yasena k±kaº¹akaputtena ves±lik± up±sak±”ti “Up±sakehi p±pika½ no, ±vuso, kata½. Ekova yaso k±kaº¹akaputto samaºo sakyaputtiyo kato. Sabbeva maya½ assamaº± asakyaputtiy± kat±”ti. Atha kho ves±lik± vajjiputtak± bhikkh³– “aya½, ±vuso, yaso k±kaº¹akaputto amhehi asammato gih²na½ pak±sesi; handassa maya½ ukkhepan²yakamma½ karom±”ti. Te tassa ukkhepan²yakamma½ kattuk±m± sannipati½su. Atha kho ±yasm± yaso k±kaº¹akaputto veh±sa½ abbhuggantv± kosambiya½ paccuµµh±si.
