Tatra suda½ bhagav± ves±liya½ viharati mah±vane k³µ±g±ras±l±ya½. Atha kho mah±paj±pati gotam² kese ched±petv± k±s±y±ni vatth±ni acch±detv± sambahul±hi s±kiy±n²hi saddhi½ yena ves±l² tena pakk±mi. Anupubbena yena ves±l² mah±vana½ k³µ±g±ras±l± tenupasaŖkami. Atha kho mah±paj±pati gotam² s³nehi p±dehi rajokiŗŗena gattena dukkh² dumman± assumukh² rudam±n± bahidv±rakoµµhake aµµh±si. Atha kho ±yasm± ±nando yena bhagav± tenupasaŖkami, upasaŖkamitv± bhagavanta½ abhiv±detv± ekamanta½ nis²di. Ekamanta½ nisinno kho ±yasm± ±nando bhagavanta½ etadavoca– “paµiggahit±, bhante, mah±paj±patiy± gotamiy± aµµha garudhamm±, upasampann± bhagavato m±tucch±”ti.
“Sace, ±nanda, n±labhissa m±tug±mo tath±gatappavedite dhammavinaye ag±rasm± anag±riya½ pabbajja½, ciraµµhitika½, ±nanda, brahmacariya½ abhavissa, vassasahassa½ saddhammo tiµµheyya. Yato ca kho, ±nanda, m±tug±mo tath±gatappavedite dhammavinaye ag±rasm± anag±riya½ pabbajito, na d±ni, ±nanda, brahmacariya½ ciraµµhitika½ bhavissati. Pańceva d±ni, ±nanda, vassasat±ni saddhammo µhassati.
“Seyyath±pi, ±nanda, y±ni k±nici kul±ni bahutthik±ni [bahu-itthik±ni (s². sy±.)] appapurisak±ni, t±ni suppadha½siy±ni honti corehi kumbhathenakehi; evameva kho, ±nanda, yasmi½ dhammavinaye labhati m±tug±mo ag±rasm± anag±riya½ pabbajja½, na ta½ brahmacariya½ ciraµµhitika½ hoti.
“Seyyath±pi ±nanda, sampanne s±likkhette setaµµik± n±ma rogaj±ti nipatati, eva½ ta½ s±likkhetta½ na ciraµµhitika½ hoti; evameva kho, ±nanda, yasmi½ dhammavinaye labhati m±tug±mo ag±rasm± anag±riya½ pabbajja½, na ta½ brahmacariya½ ciraµµhitika½ hoti.
“Seyyath±pi, ±nanda, sampanne ucchukkhette mańjiµµhik± [mańjeµµhik± (s². sy±.)] n±ma rogaj±ti nipatati, eva½ ta½ ucchukkhetta½ na ciraµµhitika½ hoti; evameva kho, ±nanda, yasmi½ dhammavinaye labhati m±tug±mo ag±rasm± anag±riya½ pabbajja½, na ta½ brahmacariya½ ciraµµhitika½ hoti.
“Seyyath±pi, ±nanda, puriso mahato ta¼±kassa paµikacceva ±¼i½ bandheyya y±vadeva udakassa anatikkaman±ya; evameva kho, ±nanda, may± paµikacceva bhikkhun²na½ aµµha garudhamm± pańńatt± y±vaj²va½ anatikkaman²y±”ti.

404. Atha kho mah±paj±pati gotam² yena bhagav± tenupasaŖkami, upasaŖkamitv± bhagavanta½ abhiv±detv± ekamanta½ aµµh±si. Ekamanta½ µhit± kho mah±paj±pat² gotam² bhagavanta½ etadavoca– “kath±ha½, bhante, im±su s±kiy±n²su paµipajj±m²”ti? Atha kho bhagav± mah±paj±pati½ gotami½ dhammiy± kath±ya sandassesi sam±dapesi samuttejesi sampaha½sesi. Atha kho mah±paj±pati gotam² bhagavat± dhammiy± kath±ya sandassit± sam±dapit± samuttejit± sampaha½sit± bhagavanta½ abhiv±detv± padakkhiŗa½ katv± pakk±mi. Atha kho bhagav± etasmi½ nid±ne etasmi½ pakaraŗe dhammi½ katha½ katv± bhikkh³ ±mantesi– “anuj±n±mi, bhikkhave, bhikkh³hi bhikkhuniyo upasamp±detun”ti.
