330. Tena samayena buddho bhagav± anupiy±ya½ viharati, anupiya½ n±ma mall±na½ nigamo. Tena kho pana samayena abhiññ±t± abhiññ±t± sakyakum±r± bhagavanta½ pabbajita½ anupabbajanti. Tena kho pana samayena mah±n±mo ca sakko anuruddho ca sakko dvebh±tik± honti. Anuruddho sakko sukhum±lo hoti. Tassa tayo p±s±d± honti– eko hemantiko, eko gimhiko, eko vassiko. So vassike p±s±de catt±ro m±se [vassike p±s±de vassike catt±ro m±se (s².)] nippurisehi t³riyehi paric±rayam±no [paric±riyam±no (ka.)] na heµµh±p±s±da½ orohati. Atha kho mah±n±massa sakkassa etadahosi– “etarahi kho abhiññ±t± abhiññ±t± sakyakum±r± bhagavanta½ pabbajita½ anupabbajanti. Amh±kañca pana kul± natthi koci ag±rasm± anag±riya½ pabbajito. Ya½n³n±ha½ v± pabbajeyya½, anuruddho v±”ti. Atha kho mah±n±mo sakko yena anuruddho sakko tenupasaªkami, upasaªkamitv± anuruddha½ sakka½ etadavoca– “etarahi, t±ta anuruddha, abhiññ±t± abhiññ±t± sakyakum±r± bhagavanta½ pabbajita½ anupabbajanti. Amh±kañca pana kul± natthi koci ag±rasm± anag±riya½ pabbajito. Tena hi tva½ v± pabbaja, aha½ v± pabbajiss±m²”ti. “Aha½ kho sukhum±lo, n±ha½ sakkomi ag±rasm± anag±riya½ pabbajitu½. Tva½ pabbaj±h²”ti. “Ehi kho te, t±ta anuruddha, ghar±v±sattha½ anus±siss±mi. Paµhama½ khetta½ kas±petabba½. Kas±petv± vap±petabba½. Vap±petv± udaka½ abhinetabba½. Udaka½ abhinetv± udaka½ ninnetabba½. Udaka½ ninnetv± niddh±petabba½. Niddh±petv± [ni¹¹ahetabba½, ni¹¹ahetv± (s².)] lav±petabba½. Lav±petv± ubb±h±petabba½. Ubb±h±petv± puñja½ k±r±petabba½. Puñja½ k±r±petv± madd±petabba½. Atha kho anuruddho sakko yena m±t± tenupasaªkami, upasaªkamitv± m±tara½ etadavoca– “icch±maha½, amma, ag±rasm± anag±riya½ pabbajitu½. Anuj±n±hi ma½ ag±rasm± anag±riya½ pabbajj±y±”ti. Eva½ vutte anuruddhassa sakkassa m±t± anuruddha½ sakka½ etadavoca– “tumhe kho me, t±ta anuruddha, dve putt± piy± man±p± appaµik³l±. Maraºenapi vo ak±mak± vin± bhaviss±mi. Ki½ pan±ha½ tumhe j²vante anuj±niss±mi ag±rasm± anag±riya½ pabbajj±y±”ti? Dutiyampi kho…pe… tatiyampi kho anuruddho sakko m±tara½ etadavoca– “icch±maha½, amma, ag±rasm± anag±riya½ pabbajitu½. Anuj±n±hi ma½ ag±rasm± anag±riya½ pabbajj±y±”ti [imassa anantara½ kesuci potthakesu evampi p±µho dissati–- “eva½ vutte anuruddhassa sakkassa m±t± evam±ha ‘sace t±ta anuruddha bhaddiyo sakyar±j± saky±na½ rajja½ k±reti ag±rasm± anag±riya½ pabbajati, eva½ tvampi pabbaj±h²”’ti]. Tena kho pana samayena bhaddiyo sakyar±j± saky±na½ rajja½ k±reti. So ca anuruddhassa sakkassa sah±yo hoti. Atha kho anuruddhassa sakkassa m±t±– ‘aya½ kho bhaddiyo sakyar±j± saky±na½ rajja½ k±reti; anuruddhassa sakkassa sah±yo; so na ussahati ag±rasm± anag±riya½ pabbajitun’ti– anuruddha½ sakka½ etadavoca– “sace, t±ta anuruddha, bhaddiyo sakyar±j± ag±rasm± anag±riya½ pabbajati, eva½ tvampi pabbaj±h²”ti. Atha kho anuruddho sakko yena bhaddiyo sakyar±j± tenupasaªkami, upasaªkamitv± bhaddiya½ sakyar±j±na½ etadavoca– “mama kho, samma, pabbajj± tava paµibaddh±”ti. “Sace te, samma, pabbajj± mama paµibaddh± v± appaµibaddh± v± s± hotu, aha½ tay±; yath± sukha½ pabbaj±h²”ti. “Ehi, samma, ubho ag±rasm± anag±riya½ pabbajiss±m±”ti. “N±ha½, samma, sakkomi ag±rasm± anag±riya½ pabbajitunti Ya½ te sakk± añña½ may± k±tu½, ky±ha½ [ty±ha½ (s². sy±.)] kariss±mi. Tva½ pabbaj±h²”ti. “M±t± kho ma½, samma, evam±ha– ‘sace, t±ta anuruddha, bhaddiyo sakyar±j± ag±rasm± anag±riya½ pabbajati, eva½ tvampi pabbaj±h²”’ti. “Bh±sit± kho pana te, samma, es± v±c±. Tena kho pana samayena manuss± saccav±dino honti, saccapaµiññ±. Atha kho bhaddiyo sakyar±j± anuruddha½ sakka½ etadavoca– “±gamehi, samma, sattavass±ni. Sattanna½ vass±na½ accayena ubho ag±rasm± anag±riya½ pabbajiss±m±”ti. “Aticira½, samma, sattavass±ni. N±ha½ sakkomi sattavass±ni ±gametun”ti. “¾gamehi, samma, chavass±ni…pe… pañcavass±ni… catt±ri vass±ni… t²ºi vass±ni… dve vass±ni… eka½ vassa½. Ekassa vassassa accayena ubho ag±rasm± anag±riya½ pabbajiss±m±”ti. “Aticira½, samma, ekavassa½. N±ha½ sakkomi eka½ vassa½ ±gametun”ti. “¾gamehi, samma, sattam±se. Sattanna½ m±s±na½ accayena ubhopi ag±rasm± anag±riya½ pabbajiss±m±”ti. “Aticira½, samma, sattam±s±. Atha kho bhaddiyo ca sakyar±j± anuruddho ca ±nando ca bhagu ca kimilo ca devadatto ca, up±likappakena sattam±, yath± pure caturaªginiy± sen±ya uyy±nabh³mi½ niyyanti, evameva caturaªginiy± sen±ya niyyi½su. Te d³ra½ gantv± sena½ nivatt±petv± paravisaya½ okkamitv± ±bharaºa½ omuñcitv± uttar±saªgena bhaº¹ika½ bandhitv± up±li½ kappaka½ etadavocu½– “handa, bhaºe up±li, nivattassu; ala½ te ettaka½ j²vik±y±”ti. Atha kho up±lissa kappakassa nivattantassa etadahosi– “caº¹± kho s±kiy±; imin± kum±r± nipp±tit±ti gh±t±peyyumpi ma½. Ime hi n±ma sakyakum±r± ag±rasm± anag±riya½ pabbajissanti. Kimaªga [kimaªga (s².)] pan±han”ti. Bhaº¹ika½ muñcitv± ta½ bhaº¹a½ rukkhe ±laggetv± ‘yo passati, dinna½yeva harat³’ti vatv± yena te sakyakum±r± tenupasaªkami. Addas±su½ kho te sakyakum±r± up±li½ kappaka½ d³ratova ±gacchanta½. Disv±na up±li½ kappaka½ etadavocu½– “kissa, bhaºe up±li, nivattes²”ti? “Idha me, ayyaputt±, nivattantassa etadahosi– ‘caº¹± kho s±kiy±; imin± kum±r± nipp±tit±ti gh±t±peyyumpi ma½. Ime hi n±ma sakyakum±r± ag±rasm± anag±riya½ pabbajissanti. Kimaªga pan±han’ti. So kho aha½, ayyaputt±, bhaº¹ika½ muñcitv± ta½ bhaº¹a½ rukkhe ±laggetv± ‘yo passati, dinnaññeva harat³’ti vatv± tatomhi paµinivatto”ti. “Suµµhu, bhaºe up±li, ak±si yampi na nivatto [ya½ nivatto (s².), ya½ pana nivatto (sy±.)]. Caº¹± kho s±kiy±; imin± kum±r± nipp±tit±ti gh±t±peyyumpi tan”ti.
Atha kho sakyakum±r± up±li½ kappaka½ ±d±ya yena bhagav± tenupasaªkami½su, upasaªkamitv± bhagavanta½ abhiv±detv± ekamanta½ nis²di½su. Ekamanta½ nisinn± kho te sakyakum±r± bhagavanta½ etadavocu½– “maya½, bhante, s±kiy± n±ma m±nassino. Aya½ bhante, up±li kappako amh±ka½ d²gharatta½ paric±rako. Ima½ bhagav± paµhama½ pabb±jetu. Imassa maya½ abhiv±danapaccuµµh±na-añjalikammas±m²cikamma½ kariss±ma. Eva½ amh±ka½ s±kiy±na½ s±kiyam±no nimm±n±yissat²”ti [nimm±dayissat²ti (s².), nimm±niyissat²ti (sy±.)].
Atha kho bhagav± up±li½ kappaka½ paµhama½ pabb±jesi, pacch± te sakyakum±re. Atha kho ±yasm± bhaddiyo teneva antaravassena tisso vijj± sacch±k±si. ¾yasm± anuruddho dibbacakkhu½ upp±desi. ¾yasm± ±nando sot±pattiphala½ sacch±k±si. Devadatto pothujjanika½ iddhi½ abhinipph±desi.
332. Tena kho pana samayena ±yasm± bhaddiyo araññagatopi rukkham³lagatopi suññ±g±ragatopi abhikkhaºa½ ud±na½ ud±nesi– “aho sukha½, aho sukhan”ti. Atha kho sambahul± bhikkh³ yena bhagav± tenupasaªkami½su, upasaªkamitv± bhagavanta½ abhiv±detv± ekamanta½ nis²di½su. Ekamanta½ nisinn± kho te bhikkh³ bhagavanta½ etadavocu½– “±yasm±, bhante, bhaddiyo araññagatopi rukkham³lagatopi suññ±g±ragatopi abhikkhaºa½ ud±na½ ud±nesi– ‘aho sukha½, aho sukhan’ti. Nissa½saya½ kho, bhante, ±yasm± bhaddiyo anabhiratova brahmacariya½ carati. Ta½yeva v± purima½ rajjasukha½ samanussaranto araññagatopi rukkham³lagatopi suññ±g±ragatopi abhikkhaºa½ ud±na½ ud±nesi ‘aho sukha½, aho sukha”n’ti.
Atha kho bhagav± aññatara½ bhikkhu½ ±mantesi– “ehi tva½, bhikkhu, mama vacanena bhaddiya½ bhikkhu½ ±mantehi– ‘satth± ta½, ±vuso bhaddiya, ±mantet²”’ti “Eva½ bhante”ti kho so bhikkhu bhagavato paµissutv± yen±yasm± bhaddiyo tenupasaªkami, upasaªkamitv± ±yasmanta½ bhaddiya½ etadavoca– “satth± ta½, ±vuso bhaddiya, ±mantet²”ti. “Evam±vuso”ti kho ±yasm± bhaddiyo tassa bhikkhuno paµissutv± yena bhagav± tenupasaªkami, upasaªkamitv± bhagavanta½ abhiv±detv± ekamanta½ nis²di. Ekamanta½ nisinna½ kho ±yasmanta½ bhaddiya½ bhagav± etadavoca– “sacca½ kira tva½, bhaddiya, araññagatopi rukkham³lagatopi suññ±g±ragatopi abhikkhaºa½ ud±na½ ud±nesi– ‘aho sukha½, aho sukha”n’ti? “Eva½ bhante”ti. “Ki½ pana tva½, bhaddiya, atthavasa½ sampassam±no araññagatopi rukkham³lagatopi suññ±g±ragatopi abhikkhaºa½ ud±na½ ud±nesi– ‘aho sukha½ aho sukha”n’ti? “Pubbe me, bhante, rañño satopi antopi antepure rakkh± susa½vihit± hoti, bahipi antepure rakkh± susa½vihit± hoti, antopi nagare rakkh± susa½vihit± hoti, bahipi nagare rakkh± susa½vihit± hoti, antopi janapade rakkh± susa½vihit± hoti, bahipi janapade rakkh± susa½vihit± hoti. So kho aha½, bhante, eva½ rakkhitopi gopitopi santo bh²to ubbiggo ussaªk² utrasto vihar±mi. Etarahi kho pana aha½ eko, bhante, araññagatopi rukkham³lagatopi suññ±g±ragatopi abh²to anubbiggo anussaªk² anutrasto appossukko pannalomo paradattavutto migabh³tena cetas± vihar±m²ti. Ima½ kho aha½, bhante, atthavasa½ sampassam±no araññagatopi rukkham³lagatopi suññ±g±ragatopi abhikkhaºa½ ud±na½ ud±nemi– ‘aho sukha½, aho sukha”n’ti. Atha kho bhagav± etamattha½ viditv± t±ya½ vel±ya½ ima½ ud±na½ ud±nesi–
