Atha kho, bhikkhave, tesa½ sah±y±na½ etadahosi– ‘aho n³na maya½ j±neyy±ma ya½ amh±ka½ j±tiy± mahantatara½ ta½ maya½ sakkareyy±ma garu½ kareyy±ma m±neyy±ma p³jeyy±ma, tassa ca maya½ ov±de tiµµheyy±m±’ti.
“Atha kho, bhikkhave, tittiro ca makkaµo ca hatthin±ga½ pucchi½su– ‘tva½, samma, ki½ por±ºa½ saras²’ti? ‘Yad±ha½, samm±, poto homi, ima½ nigrodha½ antar± satth²na½ [antar±satthika½ (s².)] karitv± atikkam±mi, aggaªkuraka½ me udara½ chupati. Im±ha½, samm±, por±ºa½ sar±m²’ti.
“Atha kho, bhikkhave, tittiro ca hatthin±go ca makkaµa½ pucchi½su– ‘tva½, samma, ki½ por±ºa½ saras²’ti? ‘Yad±ha½, samm±, ch±po homi, cham±ya½ nis²ditv± imassa nigrodhassa aggaªkuraka½ kh±d±mi. Im±ha½, samm±, por±ºa½ sar±m²’ti.
