168. Tena kho pana samayena aññatarasmi½ ±v±se tadahuposathe catt±ro bhikkh³ viharanti. Atha kho tesa½ bhikkh³na½ etadahosi– “bhagavat± paññatta½ ‘uposatho k±tabbo’ti, mayañcamh± catt±ro jan±, katha½ nu kho amhehi uposatho k±tabbo”ti? Bhagavato etamattha½ ±rocesu½. Anuj±n±mi, bhikkhave, catunna½ p±timokkha½ uddisitunti.

Atha kho tesa½ bhikkh³na½ etadahosi– “bhagavat± anuññ±ta½ catunna½ p±timokkha½ uddisitu½, mayañcamh± tayo jan±, katha½ nu kho amhehi uposatho k±tabbo”ti? Bhagavato etamattha½ ±rocesu½. Anuj±n±mi, bhikkhave, tiººa½ p±risuddhi-uposatha½ k±tu½. Evañca pana, bhikkhave, k±tabbo. Byattena bhikkhun± paµibalena te bhikkh³ ñ±petabb±–
“Suºantu me ±yasmant±. Ajjuposatho pannaraso. Yad±yasmant±na½ pattakalla½, maya½ aññamañña½ p±risuddhi-uposatha½ kareyy±m±”ti.
Therena bhikkhun± eka½sa½ uttar±saªga½ karitv± ukkuµika½ nis²ditv± añjali½ paggahetv± te bhikkh³ evamassu vacan²y±– “parisuddho aha½, ±vuso; parisuddhoti ma½ dh±retha. Parisuddho aha½, ±vuso; parisuddhoti ma½ dh±retha. Parisuddho aha½, ±vuso; parisuddhoti ma½ dh±reth±”ti.
Navakena bhikkhun± eka½sa½ uttar±saªga½ karitv± ukkuµika½ nis²ditv± añjali½ paggahetv± te bhikkh³ evamassu vacan²y±– “parisuddho aha½, bhante; parisuddhoti ma½ dh±retha. Parisuddho aha½, bhante; parisuddhoti ma½ dh±retha. Parisuddho aha½, bhante; parisuddhoti ma½ dh±reth±”ti.

Therena bhikkhun± eka½sa½ uttar±saªga½ karitv± ukkuµika½ nis²ditv± añjali½ paggahetv± navo bhikkhu evamassa vacan²yo– “parisuddho aha½, ±vuso; parisuddhoti ma½ dh±rehi. Parisuddho aha½, ±vuso; parisuddhoti ma½ dh±rehi. Parisuddho aha½, ±vuso; parisuddhoti ma½ dh±reh²”ti.

Atha kho tassa bhikkhuno etadahosi– “bhagavat± anuññ±ta½ catunna½ p±timokkha½ uddisitu½, tiººanna½ p±risuddhi-uposatha½ k±tu½, dvinna½ p±risuddhi-uposatha½ k±tu½. Ahañcamhi ekako. Katha½ nu kho may± uposatho k±tabbo”ti? Bhagavato etamattha½ ±rocesu½. Idha pana, bhikkhave, aññatarasmi½ ±v±se tadahuposathe eko bhikkhu viharati. Tena, bhikkhave, bhikkhun± yattha bhikkh³ paµikkamanti upaµµh±nas±l±ya v±, maº¹ape v±, rukkham³le v±, so deso sammajjitv± p±n²ya½ paribhojan²ya½ upaµµh±petv± ±sana½ paññapetv± pad²pa½ katv± nis²ditabba½. Sace aññe bhikkh³ ±gacchanti, tehi saddhi½ uposatho k±tabbo. No ce ±gacchanti, ajja me uposathoti adhiµµh±tabbo. No ce adhiµµhaheyya, ±patti dukkaµassa.
Tatra, bhikkhave, yattha catt±ro bhikkh³ viharanti, na ekassa p±risuddhi½ ±haritv± t²hi p±timokkha½ uddisitabba½. Uddiseyyu½ ce, ±patti dukkaµassa. Tatra, bhikkhave, yattha tayo bhikkh³ viharanti, na ekassa p±risuddhi½ ±haritv± dv²hi p±risuddhi-uposatho k±tabbo. Kareyyu½ ce, ±patti dukkaµassa. Tatra, bhikkhave, yattha dve bhikkh³ viharanti, na ekassa p±risuddhi½ ±haritv± ekena adhiµµh±tabbo. Adhiµµhaheyya ce, ±patti dukkaµass±ti.
