Ya½ kho me, deva, pit± maraºak±le avaca “na hi, t±ta d²gh±vu, verena ver± sammanti, averena hi, t±ta d²gh±vu, ver± sammant²”ti devena me m±t±pitaro hat±ti. Sac±ha½ deva½ j²vit± voropeyya½, ye devassa atthak±m± te ma½ j²vit± voropeyyu½, ye me atthak±m± te te j²vit± voropeyyu½– eva½ ta½ vera½ verena na v³pasameyya. Id±ni ca pana me devena j²vita½ dinna½, may± ca devassa j²vita½ dinna½. Eva½ ta½ vera½ averena v³pasanta½. Ima½ kho me, deva, pit± maraºak±le avaca– na hi, t±ta d²gh±vu, verena ver± sammanti; averena hi t±ta d²gh±vu, ver± sammant²”ti. Atha kho, bhikkhave, brahmadatto k±sir±j±– “acchariya½ vata bho! Abbhuta½ vata bho! Y±va paº¹ito aya½ d²gh±vu kum±ro, yatra hi n±ma pituno sa½khittena bh±sitassa vitth±rena attha½ ±j±nissat²”ti pettika½ balañca v±hanañca janapadañca kosañca koµµh±g±rañca paµip±desi, dh²tarañca ad±si. Tesañhi n±ma, bhikkhave, r±j³na½ ±dinnadaº¹±na½ ±dinnasatth±na½ evar³pa½ khantisoracca½ bhavissati. Idha kho pana ta½, bhikkhave sobhetha ya½ tumhe eva½ sv±kkh±te dhammavinaye pabbajit± sam±n± kham± ca bhaveyy±tha sorat± c±ti? Tatiyampi kho bhagav± te bhikkh³ etadavoca– “ala½, bhikkhave, m± bhaº¹ana½ m± kalaha½ m± viggaha½ m± viv±dan”ti. Tatiyampi kho so adhammav±d² bhikkhu bhagavanta½ etadavoca– “±gametu, bhante, bhagav± dhammass±m²; appossukko, bhante, bhagav± diµµhadhammasukhavih±ramanuyutto viharatu. Mayametena bhaº¹anena kalahena viggahena viv±dena paññ±yiss±m±”ti. Atha kho bhagav±– pariy±dinnar³p± kho ime moghapuris±, nayime sukar± saññ±petunti– uµµh±y±san± pakk±mi.
