349. Atha kho bhagav± b±r±ºasiya½ yath±bhiranta½ viharitv± yena s±vatthi tena c±rika½ pakk±mi. Anupubbena c±rika½ caram±no yena s±vatthi tadavasari. Tatra suda½ bhagav± s±vatthiya½ viharati jetavane an±thapiº¹ikassa ±r±me. Atha kho vis±kh± mig±ram±t± yena bhagav± tenupasaªkami; upasaªkamitv± bhagavanta½ abhiv±detv± ekamanta½ nis²di. Ekamanta½ nisinna½ kho vis±kha½ mig±ram±tara½ bhagav± dhammiy± kath±ya sandassesi sam±dapesi samuttejesi sampaha½sesi. Atha kho vis±kh± mig±ram±t±, bhagavat± dhammiy± kath±ya sandassit± sam±dapit± samuttejit± sampaha½sit±, bhagavanta½ etadavoca– “adhiv±setu me, bhante, bhagav± sv±tan±ya bhatta½ saddhi½ bhikkhusaªghen±”ti. Adhiv±sesi bhagav± tuºh²bh±vena. Atha kho vis±kh± mig±ram±t± bhagavato adhiv±sana½ viditv± uµµh±y±san± bhagavanta½ abhiv±detv± padakkhiºa½ katv± pakk±mi.
Tena kho pana samayena tass± rattiy± accayena c±tudd²piko mah±megho p±vassi. Atha kho bhagav± bhikkh³ ±mantesi– “yath±, bhikkhave, jetavane vassati eva½ cat³su d²pesu vassati. Ovass±petha, bhikkhave, k±ya½. Aya½ pacchimako c±tudd²piko mah±megho”ti. “Eva½, bhante”ti kho te bhikkh³ bhagavato paµissuºitv± nikkhittac²var± k±ya½ ovass±penti. Atha kho vis±kh± mig±ram±t± paº²ta½ kh±dan²ya½ bhojan²ya½ paµiy±d±petv± d±si½ ±º±pesi– “gaccha, je. ¾r±ma½ gantv± k±la½ ±rocehi– k±lo, bhante, niµµhita½ bhattan”ti. “Eva½, ayye”ti kho s± d±s² vis±kh±ya mig±ram±tuy± paµissuºitv± ±r±ma½ gantv± addasa bhikkh³ nikkhittac²vare k±ya½ ovass±pente, disv±na ‘natthi ±r±me bhikkh³, ±j²vak± k±ya½ ovass±pent²’ti yena vis±kh± mig±ram±t± tenupasaªkami upasaªkamitv± vis±kha½ mig±ram±tara½ etadavoca– “natthayye, ±r±me bhikkh³, ±j²vak± k±ya½ ovass±pent²”ti. Atha kho vis±kh±ya mig±ram±tuy± paº¹it±ya viyatt±ya medh±viniy± etadahosi– “nissa½saya½ kho ayy± nikkhittac²var± k±ya½ ovass±penti. S±ya½ b±l± maññittha– natthi ±r±me bhikkh³, ±j²vak± k±ya½ ovass±pent²”ti, puna d±si½ ±º±pesi– “gaccha, je. ¾r±ma½ gantv± k±la½ ±rocehi– k±lo, bhante, niµµhita½ bhattan”ti. Atha kho te bhikkh³ gatt±ni s²ti½ karitv± [s²t²karitv± (sy±.)] kallak±y± c²var±ni gahetv± yath±vih±ra½ pavisi½su. Atha kho s± d±s² ±r±ma½ gantv± bhikkh³ apassant² ‘natthi ±r±me bhikkh³, suñño ±r±mo’ti yena vis±kh± mig±ram±t± tenupasaªkami; upasaªkamitv± vis±kha½ mig±ram±tara½ etadavoca– “natthayye, ±r±me bhikkh³, suñño ±r±mo”ti. Atha kho vis±kh±ya mig±ram±tuy± paº¹it±ya viyatt±ya medh±viniy± etadahosi– “nissa½saya½ kho ayy± gatt±ni s²ti½ karitv± kallak±y± c²var±ni gahetv± yath±vih±ra½ paviµµh±. S±ya½ b±l± maññittha– natthi ±r±me bhikkh³, suñño ±r±mo”ti, puna d±si½ ±º±pesi– “gaccha, je. ¾r±ma½ gantv± k±la½ ±rocehi– k±lo, bhante, niµµhita½ bhattan”ti.
350. Atha kho bhagav± bhikkh³ ±mantesi– “sandahatha [sannahatha (s². sy±.)], bhikkhave, pattac²vara½; k±lo bhattass±”ti. “Eva½, bhante”ti kho te bhikkh³ bhagavato paccassosu½. Atha kho bhagav± pubbaºhasamaya½ niv±setv± pattac²varam±d±ya– seyyath±pi n±ma balav± puriso sammiñjita½ v± b±ha½ pas±reyya, pas±rita½ v± b±ha½ samiñjeyya, evameva– jetavane antarahito vis±kh±ya mig±ram±tuy± koµµhake p±turahosi. Nis²di bhagav± paññatte ±sane saddhi½ bhikkhusaªghena. Atha kho vis±kh± mig±ram±t±– “acchariya½ vata bho! Abbhuta½ vata bho! Tath±gatassa mahiddhikat± mah±nubh±vat±, yatra hi n±ma jaººukamattesupi oghesu pavattam±nesu, kaµimattesupi oghesu pavattam±nesu, na hi n±ma ekabhikkhussapi [pavattam±nesu na ekabhikkhussapi (?)] P±d± v± c²var±ni v± all±ni bhavissant²”ti– haµµh± udagg± buddhappamukha½ bhikkhusaªgha½ paº²tena kh±dan²yena bhojan²yena sahatth± santappetv± sampav±retv± bhagavanta½ bhutt±vi½ on²tapattap±ºi½ ekamanta½ nis²di. Ekamanta½ nisinn± kho vis±kh± mig±ram±t± bhagavanta½ etadavoca– “aµµh±ha½, bhante, bhagavanta½ var±ni y±c±m²”ti. “Atikkantavar± kho, vis±khe, tath±gat±”ti. “Y±ni ca, bhante, kappiy±ni y±ni ca anavajj±n²”ti. “Vadehi, vis±khe”ti. “Icch±maha½, bhante, saªghassa y±vaj²va½ vassikas±µika½ d±tu½, ±gantukabhatta½ d±tu½, gamikabhatta½ d±tu½, gil±nabhatta½ d±tu½, gil±nupaµµh±kabhatta½ d±tu½, gil±nabhesajja½ d±tu½, dhuvay±gu½ d±tu½, bhikkhunisaªghassa udakas±µika½ d±tun”ti. “Ki½ pana tva½, vis±khe, atthavasa½ sampassam±n± tath±gata½ aµµha var±ni y±cas²”ti?
“Idh±ha½, bhante, d±si½ ±º±pesi½– ‘gaccha, je. ¾r±ma½ gantv± k±la½ ±rocehi– k±lo, bhante, niµµhita½ bhatta”n’ti. Atha kho s±, bhante, d±s² ±r±ma½ gantv± addasa bhikkh³ nikkhittac²vare k±ya½ ovass±pente, disv±na “natthi ±r±me bhikkh³, ±j²vak± k±ya½ ovass±pent²”ti yen±ha½ tenupasaªkami; upasaªkamitv± ma½ etadavoca– “natthayye, ±r±me bhikkh³, ±j²vak± k±ya½ ovass±pent²”ti. Asuci, bhante, naggiya½ jeguccha½ paµik³la½. Im±ha½, bhante, atthavasa½ sampassam±n± icch±mi saªghassa y±vaj²va½ vassikas±µika½ d±tu½.
“Puna capara½, bhante, ±gantuko bhikkhu na v²thikusalo na gocarakusalo kilanto piº¹±ya carati. So me ±gantukabhatta½ bhuñjitv± v²thikusalo gocarakusalo akilanto piº¹±ya carissati. Im±ha½, bhante, atthavasa½ sampassam±n± icch±mi saªghassa y±vaj²va½ ±gantukabhatta½ d±tu½.
“Puna capara½, bhante, gamiko bhikkhu attano bhatta½ pariyesam±no satth± v± vih±yissati, yattha v± v±sa½ gantuk±mo bhavissati tattha vik±le upagacchissati, kilanto addh±na½ gamissati. So me gamikabhatta½ bhuñjitv± satth± na vih±yissati, yattha v±sa½ gantuk±mo bhavissati tattha k±le upagacchissati, akilanto addh±na½ gamissati. Im±ha½, bhante, atthavasa½ sampassam±n± icch±mi saªghassa y±vaj²va½ gamikabhatta½ d±tu½.
“Puna capara½, bhante, gil±nassa bhikkhuno sapp±y±ni bhojan±ni alabhantassa ±b±dho v± abhiva¹¹hissati, k±la½kiriy± v± bhavissati. Tassa me gil±nabhatta½ bhuttassa ±b±dho na abhiva¹¹hissati, k±la½kiriy± na bhavissati. Im±ha½, bhante, atthavasa½ sampassam±n± icch±mi saªghassa y±vaj²va½ gil±nabhatta½ d±tu½ “Puna capara½, bhante, gil±nupaµµh±ko bhikkhu attano bhatta½ pariyesam±no gil±nassa uss³re bhatta½ n²harissati, bhattaccheda½ karissati. So me gil±nupaµµh±kabhatta½ bhuñjitv± gil±nassa k±lena bhatta½ n²harissati, bhattaccheda½ na karissati. Im±ha½, bhante, atthavasa½ sampassam±n± icch±mi saªghassa y±vaj²va½ gil±nupaµµh±kabhatta½ d±tu½.
“Puna capara½, bhante, gil±nassa bhikkhuno sapp±y±ni bhesajj±ni alabhantassa ±b±dho v± abhiva¹¹hissati, k±la½kiriy± v± bhavissati. Tassa me gil±nabhesajja½ paribhuttassa ±b±dho na abhiva¹¹hissati, k±la½kiriy± na bhavissati. Im±ha½, bhante, atthavasa½ sampassam±n± icch±mi saªghassa y±vaj²va½ gil±nabhesajja½ d±tu½.
“Puna capara½, bhante, bhagavat± andhakavinde das±nisa½se sampassam±nena y±gu anuññ±t±. Ty±ha½, bhante, ±nisa½se sampassam±n± icch±mi saªghassa y±vaj²va½ dhuvay±gu½ d±tu½.
“Idha, bhante, bhikkhuniyo aciravatiy± nadiy± vesiy±hi saddhi½ nagg± ekatitthe nah±yanti. T±, bhante, vesiy± bhikkhuniyo uppaº¹esu½– ‘ki½ nu kho n±ma tumh±ka½, ayye, dahar±na½ [dahar±na½ dahar±na½ (s².)] brahmacariya½ ciººena, nanu n±ma k±m± paribhuñjitabb±; yad± jiºº± bhavissatha tad± brahmacariya½ carissatha. Eva½ tumh±ka½ ubho atth± pariggahit± bhavissant²’ti. T±, bhante, bhikkhuniyo vesiy±hi uppaº¹iyam±n± maªk³ ahesu½. Asuci, bhante, m±tug±massa naggiya½ jeguccha½ paµik³la½. Im±ha½, bhante, atthavasa½ sampassam±n± icch±mi bhikkhunisaªghassa y±vaj²va½ udakas±µika½ d±tun”ti.
351. “Ki½ pana tva½, vis±khe, ±nisa½sa½ sampassam±n± tath±gata½ aµµha var±ni y±cas²”ti? “Idha, bhante, dis±su vassa½vuµµh± bhikkh³ s±vatthi½ ±gacchissanti bhagavanta½ dassan±ya. Te bhagavanta½ upasaªkamitv± pucchissanti– ‘itthann±mo, bhante, bhikkhu k±laªkato, tassa k± gati ko abhisampar±yo’ti? Ta½ bhagav± by±karissati sot±pattiphale v± sakad±g±miphale v± an±g±miphale v± arahatte v±. Ty±ha½ upasaªkamitv± pucchiss±mi– ‘±gatapubb± nu kho, bhante, tena ayyena s±vatth²’ti? Sace me vakkhanti– ‘±gatapubb± tena bhikkhun± s±vatth²’ti niµµhamettha gacchiss±mi– nissa½saya½ me paribhutta½ tena ayyena vassikas±µik± v± ±gantukabhatta½ v± gamikabhatta½ v± gil±nabhatta½ v± gil±nupaµµh±kabhatta½ v± gil±nabhesajja½ v± dhuvay±gu v±ti. Tass± me tadanussarantiy± p±mujja½ j±yissati, pamudit±ya p²ti j±yissati, p²timan±ya k±yo passambhissati, passaddhak±y± sukha½ vediyiss±mi, sukhiniy± citta½ sam±dhiyissati. S± me bhavissati indriyabh±van± balabh±van± bojjhaªgabh±van±. Im±ha½, bhante, ±nisa½sa½ sampassam±n± tath±gata½ aµµha var±ni y±c±m²”ti. “S±dhu s±dhu, vis±khe; s±dhu kho tva½, vis±khe, ima½ ±nisa½sa½ sampassam±n± tath±gata½ aµµha var±ni y±casi. Anuj±n±mi te, vis±khe, aµµha var±n²”ti. Atha kho bhagav± vis±kha½ mig±ram±tara½ im±hi g±th±hi anumodi–
“Y± annap±na½ dadatippamodit±;
s²l³papann± sugatassa s±vik±;
dad±ti d±na½ abhibhuyya macchara½;
sovaggika½ sokanuda½ sukh±vaha½.
“Dibba½ s± labhate ±yu½ [dibba½ bala½ s± labhate ca ±yu½ (s². sy±.)];
±gamma magga½ viraja½ anaªgaºa½;
s± puññak±m± sukhin² an±may±;
saggamhi k±yamhi cira½ pamodat²”ti.
352. Atha kho bhagav± vis±kha½ mig±ram±tara½ im±hi g±th±hi anumoditv± uµµh±y±san± pakk±mi. Atha kho bhagav± etasmi½ nid±ne etasmi½ pakaraºe dhammi½ katha½ katv± bhikkh³ ±mantesi– “anuj±n±mi, bhikkhave, vassikas±µika½, ±gantukabhatta½, gamikabhatta½, gil±nabhatta½, gil±nupaµµh±kabhatta½, gil±nabhesajja½, dhuvay±gu½, bhikkhunisaªghassa udakas±µikan”ti.
