282. Atha kho bhagav± b±r±ºasiya½ yath±bhiranta½ viharitv± yena andhakavinda½ tena c±rika½ pakk±mi, mahat± bhikkhusaªghena saddhi½, a¹¹hatelasehi bhikkhusatehi. Tena kho pana samayena j±napad± manuss± bahu½ loºampi, telampi, taº¹ulampi, kh±dan²yampi sakaµesu ±ropetv± buddhappamukhassa bhikkhusaªghassa piµµhito piµµhito anubandh± honti– yad± paµip±µi½ labhiss±ma tad± bhatta½ kariss±m±ti, pañcamatt±ni ca vigh±s±dasat±ni. Atha kho bhagav± anupubbena c±rika½ caram±no yena andhakavinda½ tadavasari. Atha kho aññatarassa br±hmaºassa paµip±µi½ alabhantassa etadahosi– “at²t±ni [adhik±ni (s². sy±.)] kho me dve m±s±ni buddhappamukha½ bhikkhusaªgha½ anubandhantassa ‘yad± paµip±µi½ labhiss±mi tad± bhatta½ kariss±m²’ti, na ca me paµip±µi labbhati, ahañcamhi ekattako [ekato (s². sy±.)], bahu ca me ghar±v±sattho h±yati. Ya½n³n±ha½ bhattagga½ olokeyya½; ya½ bhattagge n±ssa, ta½ paµiy±deyyan”ti. Atha kho so br±hmaºo bhattagga½ olokento dve n±ddasa– y±guñca madhugo¼akañca Atha kho so br±hmaºo yen±yasm± ±nando tenupasaªkami, upasaªkamitv± ±yasmanta½ ±nanda½ etadavoca– “idha me, bho ±nanda, paµip±µi½ alabhantassa etadahosi ‘at²t±ni kho me dve m±s±ni buddhappamukha½ bhikkhusaªgha½ anubandhantassa, yad± paµip±µi½ labhiss±mi tad± bhatta½ kariss±m²ti. Na ca me paµip±µi labbhati ahañcamhi ekattako, bahu ca me ghar±v±sattho h±yati. Ya½n³n±ha½ bhattagga½ olokeyya½; ya½ bhattagge n±ssa, ta½ paµiy±deyyan’ti. So kho aha½, bho ±nanda, bhattagga½ olokento dve n±ddasa½– y±guñca madhugo¼akañca. Sac±ha½, bho ±nanda, paµiy±deyya½ y±guñca madhugo¼akañca, paµiggaºheyya me bhava½ gotamo”ti? “Tena hi, br±hmaºa, bhagavanta½ paµipucchiss±m²”ti. Atha kho ±yasm± ±nando bhagavato etamattha½ ±rocesi. Tena h±nanda, paµiy±det³ti. Tena hi, br±hmaºa, paµiy±deh²ti. Atha kho so br±hmaºo tass± rattiy± accayena pah³ta½ y±guñca madhugo¼akañca paµiy±d±petv± bhagavato upan±mesi– paµiggaºh±tu me bhava½ gotamo y±guñca madhugo¼akañc±ti. Tena hi, br±hmaºa, bhikkh³na½ deh²ti. Bhikkh³ kukkucc±yant± na paµiggaºhanti. Paµiggaºhatha, bhikkhave, paribhuñjath±ti. Atha kho so br±hmaºo buddhappamukha½ bhikkhusaªgha½ pah³t±ya y±guy± ca madhugo¼akena ca sahatth± santappetv± sampav±retv± bhagavanta½ dhotahattha½ on²tapattap±ºi½ ekamanta½ nis²di. Ekamanta½ nisinna½ kho ta½ br±hmaºa½ bhagav± etadavoca–
“Dasayime, br±hmaºa, ±nisa½s± y±guy±. Katame dasa? Y±gu½ dento ±yu½ deti, vaººa½ deti, sukha½ deti, bala½ deti, paµibh±na½ deti, y±gu p²t± khudda½ [khuda½ (s². sy±.)] paµihanati, pip±sa½ vineti, v±ta½ anulometi, vatthi½ sodheti, ±m±vasesa½ p±ceti– ime kho, br±hmaºa, das±nisa½s± y±guy±”ti [pacchim± pañca ±nisa½s± a. ni. 5.207].

manussasobhagyatamicchat± v±ti.
Atha kho bhagav± ta½ br±hmaºa½ im±hi g±th±hi anumoditv± uµµh±y±san± pakk±mi. Atha kho bhagav± etasmi½ nid±ne etasmi½ pakaraºe dhammi½ katha½ katv± bhikkh³ ±mantesi– “anuj±n±mi, bhikkhave, y±guñca madhugo¼akañc±”ti.
