Tena kho pana samayena s±riputtamoggall±n± sañcaye paribb±jake brahmacariya½ caranti. Tehi katik± kat± hoti– yo paµhama½ amata½ adhigacchati, so itarassa ±rocet³ti. Atha kho ±yasm± assaji pubbaºhasamaya½ niv±setv± pattac²varam±d±ya r±jagaha½ piº¹±ya p±visi p±s±dikena abhikkantena paµikkantena ±lokitena vilokitena samiñjitena pas±ritena, okkhittacakkhu iriy±pathasampanno. Addas± kho s±riputto paribb±jako ±yasmanta½ assaji½ r±jagahe piº¹±ya caranta½ p±s±dikena abhikkantena paµikkantena ±lokitena vilokitena samiñjitena pas±ritena okkhittacakkhu½ iriy±pathasampanna½. Disv±nassa etadahosi– “ye vata loke arahanto v± arahattamagga½ v± sam±pann±, aya½ tesa½ bhikkhu aññataro. Ya½n³n±ha½ ima½ bhikkhu½ upasaªkamitv± puccheyya½– ‘ka½si tva½, ±vuso, uddissa pabbajito, ko v± te satth±, kassa v± tva½ dhamma½ roces²”’ti? Atha kho s±riputtassa paribb±jakassa etadahosi– “ak±lo kho ima½ bhikkhu½ pucchitu½, antaraghara½ paviµµho piº¹±ya carati. Ya½n³n±ha½ ima½ bhikkhu½ piµµhito piµµhito anubandheyya½, atthikehi upaññ±ta½ maggan”ti. Atha kho ±yasm± assaji r±jagahe piº¹±ya caritv± piº¹ap±ta½ ±d±ya paµikkami. Atha kho s±riputtopi paribb±jako yen±yasm± assaji tenupasaªkami, upasaªkamitv± ±yasmat± assajin± saddhi½ sammodi, sammodan²ya½ katha½ s±raº²ya½ v²tis±retv± ekamanta½ aµµh±si. Ekamanta½ µhito kho s±riputto paribb±jako ±yasmanta½ assaji½ etadavoca– “vippasann±ni kho te, ±vuso, indriy±ni, parisuddho chavivaººo pariyod±to. Ka½si tva½, ±vuso, uddissa pabbajito, ko v± te satth±, kassa v± tva½ dhamma½ roces²”ti? “Atth±vuso, mah±samaºo sakyaputto sakyakul± pabbajito, t±ha½ bhagavanta½ uddissa pabbajito, so ca me bhagav± satth±, tassa c±ha½ bhagavato dhamma½ rocem²”ti. “Ki½v±d² pan±yasmato satth±, kimakkh±y²”ti? “Aha½ kho, ±vuso, navo acirapabbajito, adhun±gato ima½ dhammavinaya½, na t±ha½ sakkomi vitth±rena dhamma½ desetu½, api ca te sa½khittena attha½ vakkh±m²”ti. attheneva me attho, ki½ k±hasi byañjana½ bahun”ti.

Atha kho moggall±no paribb±jako s±riputta½ paribb±jaka½ etadavoca “gacch±ma maya½, ±vuso, bhagavato santike, so no bhagav± satth±”ti. “Im±ni kho, ±vuso, a¹¹hateyy±ni paribb±jakasat±ni amhe niss±ya amhe sampassant± idha viharanti, tepi t±va apalokema [apalok±ma (ka)]. Yath± te maññissanti, tath± te karissant²”ti. Atha kho s±riputtamoggall±n± yena te paribb±jak± tenupasaªkami½su, upasaªkamitv± te paribb±jake etadavocu½– “gacch±ma maya½, ±vuso, bhagavato santike, so no bhagav± satth±”ti. “Maya½ ±yasmante niss±ya ±yasmante sampassant± idha vihar±ma, sace ±yasmant± mah±samaºe brahmacariya½ carissanti, sabbeva maya½ mah±samaºe brahmacariya½ cariss±m±”ti. Atha kho s±riputtamoggall±n± yena sañcayo paribb±jako tenupasaªkami½su, upasaªkamitv± sañcaya½ paribb±jaka½ etadavocu½– “gacch±ma maya½, ±vuso, bhagavato santike, so no bhagav± satth±”ti. “Ala½, ±vuso, m± agamittha, sabbeva tayo ima½ gaºa½ parihariss±m±”ti. Dutiyampi kho…pe… tatiyampi kho s±riputtamoggall±n± sañcaya½ paribb±jaka½ etadavocu½– “gacch±ma maya½, ±vuso, bhagavato santike, so no bhagav± satth±”ti. “Ala½, ±vuso, m± agamittha, sabbeva tayo ima½ gaºa½ parihariss±m±”ti. Atha kho s±riputtamoggall±n± t±ni a¹¹hateyy±ni paribb±jakasat±ni ±d±ya yena ve¼uvana½ tenupasaªkami½su. Sañcayassa pana paribb±jakassa tattheva uºha½ lohita½ mukhato uggañchi.
Addas± kho bhagav± [bhagav±te (ka)] s±riputtamoggall±ne d³ratova ±gacchante, disv±na bhikkh³ ±mantesi– “ete, bhikkhave, dve sah±yak± ±gacchanti, kolito upatisso ca. Eta½ me s±vakayuga½ bhavissati agga½ bhaddayugan”ti.
Gambh²re ñ±ºavisaye, anuttare upadhisaªkhaye;
vimutte appatte ve¼uvana½, atha ne satth± by±k±si.
Ete dve sah±yak±, ±gacchanti kolito upatisso ca;
eta½ me s±vakayuga½, bhavissati agga½ bhaddayuganti.

Atha kho s±riputtamoggall±n± yena bhagav± tenupasaªkami½su upasaªkamitv±

Bhagavato p±desu siras± nipatitv± bhagavanta½ etadavocu½– “labheyy±ma maya½, bhante, bhagavato santike pabbajja½, labheyy±ma upasampadan”ti. “Etha bhikkhavo”ti bhagav± avoca– “sv±kkh±to dhammo, caratha brahmacariya½ samm± dukkhassa antakiriy±y±”ti. S±va tesa½ ±yasmant±na½ upasampad± ahosi.
