327. S±lavati½ kum±ri½ gaºika½ vuµµh±pes²ti n±gar± dve satasahass±ni, r±j± satasahassanti t²ºi satasahass±ni, aññañca ±r±muyy±nav±han±dipariccheda½ datv± vuµµh±pesu½; gaºikaµµh±ne µhapesunti attho. Paµisatena ca ratti½ gacchat²ti ratti½ paµisatena gacchati. Gil±na½ paµivedeyyanti gil±nabh±va½ j±n±peyya½. Kattarasuppeti jiººasuppe.
328. K± me deva m±t±, ko pit±ti kasm± pucchi? Ta½ kira aññe r±jad±rak± k²¼ant± kalahe uµµhite “nimm±tiko nippitiko”ti vadanti. Yath± ca aññesa½ d±rak±na½ chaº±d²su cu¼am±t±mah±m±t±dayo kiñci paºº±k±ra½ pesenti, tath± tassa na koci kiñci peseti. Iti so ta½ sabba½ cintetv± “nimm±tikoyeva nu kho ahan”ti j±nanattha½ “k± me deva m±t±, ko pit±”ti pucchi.
Yann³n±ha½ sippa½ sikkheyyanti ya½n³na aha½ vejjasippa½ sikkheyyanti cintesi. Tassa kira etadahosi– “im±ni kho hatthi-assasipp±d²ni par³pagh±tapaµisa½yutt±ni, vejjasippa½ mett±pubbabh±ga½ satt±na½ hitapaµisa½yuttan”ti. Tasm± vejjasippameva sandh±ya “ya½n³n±ha½ sippa½ sikkheyyan”ti cintesi. Apic±ya½ ito kappasatasahassassa upari padumuttarassa bhagavato upaµµh±ka½ “buddhupaµµh±ko ayan”ti catuparisantare patthataguºa½ vejja½ disv± “aho vat±hampi evar³pa½ µh±nantara½ p±puºeyyan”ti cintetv± satt±ha½ buddhappamukhassa saªghassa d±na½ datv± bhagavanta½ vanditv± “ahampi bhagav± tumh±ka½ upaµµh±ko asukavejjo viya an±gate buddhupaµµh±ko bhaveyyan”ti patthanamak±si. T±ya purimapatthan±ya codiyam±nopesa vejjasippameva sandh±ya “ya½n³n±ha½ sippa½ sikkheyyan”ti cintesi.
329. Dis±p±mokkhoti sabbadis±su vidito p±kaµo padh±no v±ti attho. Tasmiñca samaye takkas²lato v±ºij± abhayar±jakum±ra½ dassan±ya agama½su. Te j²vako “kuto tumhe ±gat±”ti pucchi. “Takkas²lato”ti vutte “atthi tattha vejjasipp±cariyo”ti pucchi. “¾ma kum±ra, takkas²l±ya½ dis±p±mokkho vejjo paµivasat²”ti sutv± “tena hi yad± gacchatha, mayha½ ±roceyy±th±”ti ±ha. Te tath± aka½su. So pitara½ an±pucch± tehi saddhi½ takkas²la½ agam±si. Tena vutta½– “abhaya½ r±jakum±ra½ an±pucch±”ti-±di.
Icch±maha½ ±cariya sippa½ sikkhitunti ta½ kira upasaªkamanta½ disv± so vejjo “kosi tva½ t±t±”ti pucchi. So “bimbis±ramah±r±jassa natt± abhayakum±rassa puttomh²”ti ±ha. “Kasm± pana tvamasi t±ta idh±gato”ti, tato so “tumh±ka½ santike sippa½ sikkhitun”ti vatv± icch±maha½ ±cariya sippa½ sikkhitunti ±ha. Bahuñca gaºh±t²ti yath± aññe khattiyakum±r±dayo ±cariyassa dhana½ datv± kiñci kamma½ akatv± sikkhantiyeva, na so eva½. So pana kiñci dhana½ adatv± dhammantev±sikova hutv± eka½ k±la½ upajjh±yassa kamma½ karoti, eka½ k±la½ sikkhati. Eva½ santepi abhin²h±rasampanno kulaputto attano medh±vit±ya bahuñca gaºh±ti, lahuñca gaºh±ti, suµµhu ca upadh±reti, gahitañcassa na sammussati.
Satta ca me vass±ni adh²yantassa nayimassa sippassa anto paññ±yat²ti ettha aya½ kira j²vako yattaka½ ±cariyo j±n±ti, ya½ aññe so¼asahi vassehi uggaºhanti, ta½ sabba½ sattahi vassehi uggahesi Sakkassa pana devarañño etadahosi– “aya½ buddh±na½ upaµµh±ko aggaviss±sako bhavissati, handa na½ bhesajjayojana½ sikkh±pem²”ti ±cariyassa sar²re ajjh±vasitv± yath± µhapetv± kammavip±ka½ avasesaroga½ ekeneva bhesajjayogena tikicchitu½ sakkoti, tath± na½ bhesajjayojana½ sikkh±pesi. So pana “±cariyassa santike sikkh±m²”ti maññati, tasm± “samattho id±ni j²vako tikicchitun”ti sakkena vissaµµhamatte eva½ cintetv± ±cariya½ pucchi. ¾cariyo pana “na imin± mam±nubh±vena uggahita½, devat±nubh±vena uggahitan”ti ñatv±va tena hi bhaºeti-±dim±ha. Samant± yojana½ ±hiº¹antoti divase divase ekekena dv±rena nikkhamitv± catt±ro divase ±hiº¹anto. Paritta½ p±theyya½ p±d±s²ti appamattaka½ ad±si. Kasm±? Tassa kira etadahosi– “aya½ mah±kulassa putto gatamattoyeva pitipit±mah±na½ santik± mah±sakk±ra½ labhissati, tato mayha½ v± sippassa v± guºa½ na j±nissati, antar±magge pana kh²ºap±theyyo sippa½ payojetv± avassa½ mayhañca sippassa ca guºa½ j±nissat²”ti paritta½ d±pesi.
