Tatra yasa-±d²na½ kulaputt±na½ aya½ pubbayogo– at²te kira pañcapaññ±sajan± sah±yak± vaggabandhena puññ±ni karont± an±thasar²r±ni paµijaggant± vicaranti, te ekadivasa½ gabbhini½ itthi½ k±la½kata½ disv± “jh±pess±m±”ti sus±na½ n²hari½su. Tesu pañca jane “tumhe jh±peth±”ti sus±ne µhapetv± ses± g±ma½ paviµµh±. Yaso d±rako ta½ sar²ra½ vijjhitv± parivattetv± ca jh±payam±no asubhasañña½ paµilabhi. So itaresampi catunna½ jan±na½ “passatha bho ima½ asuci½ paµik³lan”ti dassesi. Tepi tattha asubhasañña½ paµilabhi½su. Te pañcapi jan± g±ma½ gantv± sesasah±yak±na½ kathayi½su. Yaso pana d±rako gehampi gantv± m±t±pit³nnañca bhariy±ya ca kathesi. Te sabbepi asubha½ bh±vayi½su. Ayametesa½ pubbayogo. Ten±yasmato yasassa n±µakajanesu sus±nasaññ±yeva uppajji, t±yeva ca upanissayasampattiy± sabbesa½ vises±dhigamo nibbatt²ti.
Atha kho bhagav± bhikkh³ ±mantes²ti bhagav± y±va pacchimakattikapuººam±, t±va b±r±ºasiya½ viharanto ekadivasa½ te kh²º±save saµµhi bhikkh³ ±mantesi.
32. Dibb± n±ma dibbesu visayesu lobhap±s±. M±nus± n±ma m±nusakesu visayesu lobhap±s±. M± ekena dveti ekena maggena dve m± agamittha. Assavanat±ti assavanat±ya. Parih±yant²ti anadhigata½ n±dhigacchant± vises±dhigamato parih±yanti.
33. Antak±ti l±maka h²nasatta. Antalikkhacaroti r±gap±sa½ sandh±y±ha. Tañhi so “antalikkhacaro”ti mantv± ±ha.

Anuj±n±mi bhikkhave tumheva d±ni t±su t±su dis±su tesu tesu janapadesu pabb±jeth±ti-±dimhi pabbajj±pekkha½ kulaputta½ pabb±jentena ye parato “na bhikkhave pañcahi ±b±dhehi phuµµho pabb±jetabbo”ti-±di½ katv± y±va “na andham³gabadhiro pabb±jetabbo”ti eva½ paµikkhitt± puggal±, te vajjetv± pabbajj±dosavirahito puggalo pabb±jetabbo. Sopi ca m±t±pit³hi anuññ±toyeva. Tassa anuj±nanalakkhaºa½ “na bhikkhave ananuññ±to m±t±pit³hi putto pabb±jetabbo, yo pabb±jeyya, ±patti dukkaµass±”ti etasmi½ sutte vaººayiss±ma.
Eva½ pabbajj±dosavirahita½ m±t±pit³hi anuññ±ta½ pabb±jenten±pi ca sace acchinnakeso hoti, ekas²m±ya ca aññepi bhikkh³ atthi, kesacchedanatth±ya bhaº¹ukamma½ ±pucchitabba½. Tassa ±pucchan±k±ra½ “anuj±n±mi, bhikkhave, saªgha½ apaloketu½ bhaº¹ukamm±y±”ti ettha vaººayiss±ma. Sace ok±so hoti, saya½ pabb±jetabbo. Sace uddesaparipucch±d²hi by±vaµo hoti, ok±sa½ na labhati, eko daharabhikkhu vattabbo “eta½ pabb±jeh²”ti. Avuttopi ce daharabhikkhu upajjh±ya½ uddissa pabb±jeti, vaµµati. Sace daharabhikkhu natthi, s±maºeropi vattabbo “eta½ khaº¹as²ma½ netv± pabb±jetv± k±s±y±ni acch±detv± eh²”ti. Saraº±ni pana saya½ d±tabb±ni. Eva½ bhikkhun±va pabbajito hoti. Purisañhi bhikkhuto añño pabb±jetu½ na labhati, m±tug±ma½ bhikkhunito añño. S±maºero pana s±maºer² v± ±ºattiy± k±s±y±ni d±tu½ labhati. Kesoropana½ yena kenaci kata½ sukata½.
Sace pana bhabbar³po hoti sahetuko ñ±to yasass² kulaputto, ok±sa½ katv±pi sayameva pabb±jetabbo. “Mattik±muµµhi½ gahetv± nh±yitv± kese temetv± ±gacch±h²”ti ca pana na vissajjetabbo. Pabbajituk±m±nañhi paµhama½ balava-uss±ho hoti, pacch± pana k±s±y±ni ca kesaharaºasatthakañca disv± utrasanti, ettoyeva pal±yanti, tasm± sayameva nah±natittha½ netv± sace n±tidaharo hoti, “nah±h²”ti vattabbo. Kes± panassa sayameva mattika½ gahetv± dhovitabb±. Daharakum±rako pana saya½ udaka½ otaritv± gomayamattik±hi gha½sitv± nah±petabbo. Sacepissa kacchu v± pi¼ak± v± honti, yath± m±t± putta½ na jigucchati evameva ajigucchantena s±dhuka½ hatthap±das²s±ni gha½sitv± nah±petabbo. Kasm±? Ettakena hi upak±rena kulaputt± ±cariyupajjh±yesu ca s±sane ca balavasineh± tibbag±rav± anivattidhamm± honti, uppanna½ anabhirati½ vinodetv± therabh±va½ p±puºanti, kataññ³ katavedino honti.
Eva½ nah±panak±le pana kesamassu½ oropanak±le v± “tva½ ñ±to yasass², id±ni maya½ ta½ niss±ya paccayehi na kilamiss±m±”ti na vattabbo, aññ±pi aniyy±nikakath± na kathetabb±. Atha khvassa “±vuso, suµµhu upadh±rehi sati½ upaµµh±peh²”ti vatv± tacapañcakakammaµµh±na½ ±cikkhitabba½, ±cikkhantena ca vaººasaºµh±nagandh±sayok±savasena asucijegucchapaµik³labh±va½ nijj²vanissattabh±va½ v± p±kaµa½ karontena ±cikkhitabba½. Sace hi so pubbe madditasaªkh±ro hoti bh±vitabh±vano, kaºµakavedh±pekkho viya paripakkagaº¹o, s³riyuggaman±pekkha½ viya ca pariºatapaduma½, athassa ±raddhamatte kammaµµh±namanasik±re ind±sani viya pabbate kilesapabbate cuººayam±na½yeva ñ±ºa½ pavattati, khuraggeyeva arahatta½ p±puº±ti. Ye hi keci khuragge arahatta½ patt±, sabbe te evar³pa½ savana½ labhitv± kaly±ºamittena ±cariyena dinnanaya½ niss±ya no aniss±ya. Tasm±ssa ±ditova evar³p² kath± kathetabb±ti.
Kesesu pana oropitesu haliddicuººena v± gandhacuººena v± s²sañca sar²rañca ubbaµµetv± gihigandha½ apanetv± k±s±y±ni tikkhattu½ v± dvikkhattu½ v± saki½ v± paµigg±hetabbo. Ath±pissa hatthe adatv± ±cariyo v± upajjh±yo v± sayameva acch±deti, vaµµati. Sacepi añña½ dahara½ v± s±maºera½ v± up±saka½ v± ±º±peti “±vuso, et±ni k±s±y±ni gahetv± eta½ acch±deh²”ti ta½yeva v± ±º±peti “et±ni gahetv± acch±deh²”ti sabba½ vaµµati. Sabba½ tena bhikkhun±va dinna½ hoti.
Ya½ pana niv±sana½ v± p±rupana½ v± an±ºattiy± niv±seti v± p±rupati v±, ta½ apanetv± puna d±tabba½. Bhikkhun± hi sahatthena v± ±ºattiy± v± dinnameva k±s±va½ vaµµati, adinna½ na vaµµati, sacepi tasseva santaka½ hoti, ko pana v±do upajjh±yam³lake! Aya½ “paµhama½ kesamassu½ oh±retv± k±s±y±ni vatth±ni acch±d±petv± eka½sa½ uttar±saªga½ k±r±petv±”ti ettha vinicchayo.
Bhikkh³na½ p±de vand±petv±ti ye tattha sannipatit± bhikkh³, tesa½ p±de vand±petv±; atha saraºaggahaºattha½ ukkuµika½ nis²d±petv± añjali½ paggaºh±petv± eva½ vadeh²ti vattabbo. “Yamaha½ vad±mi, ta½ vadeh²”ti vattabbo. Athassa upajjh±yena v± ±cariyena v± “buddha½ saraºa½ gacch±m²”ti-±din± nayena saraº±ni d±tabb±ni yath±vuttapaµip±µiy±va na uppaµip±µiy±. Sace hi ekapadampi ekakkharampi uppaµip±µiy± deti, buddha½ saraºa½yeva v± tikkhattu½ datv± puna itaresu ekeka½ tikkhattu½ deti, adinn±ni honti saraº±ni.
Imañca pana saraºagaman³pasampada½ paµikkhipitv± anuññ±ta-upasampad± ekato suddhiy± vaµµati. S±maºerapabbajj± pana ubhatosuddhiy±va vaµµati, no ekato suddhiy±. Tasm± upasampad±ya sace ±cariyo ñattidosañceva kammav±c±dosañca vajjetv± kamma½ karoti, sukata½ hoti. Pabbajj±ya pana im±ni t²ºi saraº±ni buk±radhak±r±d²na½ byañjan±na½ µh±nakaraºasampada½ ah±penteneva ±cariyenapi antev±sikenapi vattabb±ni. Sace ±cariyo vattu½ sakkoti, antev±siko na sakkoti; antev±siko v± sakkoti, ±cariyo na sakkoti; ubhopi v± na sakkonti, na vaµµati. Sace pana ubhopi sakkonti, vaµµati.
Im±ni ca pana dadam±nena “buddha½ saraºa½ gacch±m²”ti eva½ ekasambandh±ni anun±sikant±ni v± katv± d±tabb±ni, “buddha½ saraºa½ gacch±m²”ti eva½ vicchinditv± mak±rant±ni v± katv± d±tabb±ni. Andhakaµµhakath±ya½ n±ma½ s±vetv± “aha½ bhante buddharakkhito y±vaj²va½ buddha½ saraºa½ gacch±m²”ti vutta½, ta½ eka-aµµhakath±yampi natthi, p±¼iyampi na vutta½, tesa½ rucimattameva, tasm± na gahetabba½. Na hi tath± avadantassa saraºa½ kuppat²ti.
Anuj±n±mi bhikkhave imehi t²hi saraºagamanehi pabbajja½ upasampadanti imehi buddha½ saraºa½ gacch±m²ti-±d²hi eva½ tikkhattu½ ubhatosuddhiy± vuttehi t²hi saraºagamanehi pabbajjañceva upasampadañca anuj±n±m²ti attho. Tattha yasm± upasampad± parato paµikkhitt±, tasm± s± etarahi saraºamatteneva na ruhati. Pabbajj± pana yasm± parato “anuj±n±mi, bhikkhave, imehi t²hi saraºagamanehi s±maºerapabbajjan”ti anuññ±t± eva, tasm± s± etarahipi saraºamatteneva ruhati. Ett±vat± hi s±maºerabh³miya½ patiµµhito hoti.
Sace panesa matim± hoti paº¹itaj±tiko, athassa tasmi½yeva µh±ne sikkh±pad±ni uddisitabb±ni. Katha½? Yath± bhagavat± uddiµµh±ni. Vuttañheta½–
“Anuj±n±mi bhikkhave, s±maºer±na½ dasa sikkh±pad±ni, tesu ca s±maºerehi sikkhitu½. P±º±tip±t± veramaº², adinn±d±n± veramaº², abrahmacariy± veramaº², mus±v±d± veramaº², sur±merayamajjapam±daµµh±n± veramaº², vik±labhojan± veramaº², naccag²tav±ditavis³kadassan± veramaº², m±l±gandhavilepanadh±raºamaº¹anavibh³sanaµµh±n± veramaº², ucc±sayanamah±sayan± veramaº², j±tar³parajatapaµiggahaº± veramaº²”ti (mah±va. 106).

Andhakaµµhakath±ya½ pana “aha½, bhante, itthann±mo y±vaj²va½ p±º±tip±t± veramaºisikkh±pada½

Sam±diy±m²”ti eva½ saraºad±na½ viya sikkh±padad±nampi vutta½, ta½ neva p±¼iya½ na aµµhakath±su atthi, tasm± yath±p±¼iy±va uddisitabb±ni. Pabbajj± hi saraºagamaneheva siddh±, sikkh±pad±ni pana kevala½ sikkh±parip³raºattha½ j±nitabb±ni. Tasm± t±ni p±¼iya½ ±gatanayena uggahetu½ asakkontassa y±ya k±yaci bh±s±ya atthavasenapi ±cikkhitu½ vaµµati. Y±va pana attan± sikkhitabbasikkh±pad±ni na j±n±ti, saªgh±µipattac²varadh±raºaµµh±nanisajj±d²su p±nabhojan±dividhimhi ca na kusalo hoti, t±va bhojanas±la½ v± sal±kabh±janaµµh±na½ v± añña½ v± tath±r³paµµh±na½ na pesetabbo, santik±vacaroyeva k±tabbo, b±lad±rako viya paµijaggitabbo, sabbamassa kappiy±kappiya½ ±cikkhitabba½, niv±sanap±rupan±d²su ±bhisam±c±rikesu vinetabbo. Ten±pi “anuj±n±mi, bhikkhave, dasahaªgehi samann±gata½ s±maºera½ n±setun”ti (mah±va. 108) eva½ parato vutt±ni dasa n±sanaªg±ni ±rak± parivajjetv± ±bhisam±c±rika½ parip³rentena dasavidhe s²le s±dhuka½ sikkhitabbanti.
