“Ko nu kho, bhante, hetu, ko paccayo, yena pubbe appatar±ni ceva sikkh±pad±niahesu½, bahutar± ca bhikkh³ aññ±ya saºµhahi½su. Ko pana, bhante, hetu, ko paccayo,yena etarahi bahutar±ni ceva sikkh±pad±ni honti, appatar± ca bhikkh³ aññ±ya saºµhahant²ti.Evameta½, bhadd±li, hoti, sattesu h±yam±nesu saddhamme antaradh±yam±ne bahutar±ni cevasikkh±pad±ni honti, appatar± ca bhikkh³ aññ±ya saºµhahant²ti. Na t±va, bhadd±li,satth± s±vak±na½ sikkh±pada½ paññapeti, y±va na idhekacce ±savaµµh±n²y± dhamm± saªghep±tubhavant²”ti–

As±dh±raºo hetu, s±dh±raºo paccayoti evam±divibh±gena idha payojana½ natthi, vipass²-±d²na½pana brahmacariyassa aciraµµhitikat±ya ciraµµhitikat±ya ca k±raºapucch±paratt± codan±y±ti±ha “hetu paccayoti ubhayameta½ k±raº±dhivacanan”ti. Hinoti tena halanti het³ti karaºas±dhanoya½ hetusaddoti ±ha “tena tassa phalan”ti-±di.Kattus±dhanopi hetusaddo no na yujjati hinoti phalassa hetubh±va½ upagacchat²ti het³ti.Ta½ paµicca eti pavattat²ti ta½ k±raºa½ paµicca tassa phala½ eti pavattati nibbattat²tiattho.

D²ghanik±yaµµhakath±ya½ pana “te sabbepidv±dasasahassabhikkhugaºhanak± mah±vih±r± abhayagiricetiyapabbatacittalapabbatavih±rasadis±ca ahesun”ti vutta½. Uposath±rocik±ti uposath±rocanak±. Ta½ nibb±na½ pana santapaº²tanipuºasivakhem±din± sabb±k±rena paramantivadanti buddh±.
Na hi pabbajito par³pagh±t²ti yo adhiv±sanakhantirahitatt± para½ upagh±teti b±dhativihi½sati, so pabbajito n±ma na hoti pabb±jetabbadhammassa apabb±janato. Catutthap±dopana tatiyap±dasseva vevacana½ anatthantaratt±. “Na hi pabbajito”ti etassa hi “nasamaºo hot²”ti vevacana½. “Par³pagh±t²”ti etassa “para½ viheµhayanto”ti vevacana½.Atha v± par³pagh±t²ti s²l³pagh±t². S²lañhi uttamaµµhena “paran”ti vuccati parasaddassaseµµhav±cakatt± “puggalaparoparaññ³”ti-±d²su viya. Yo ca samaºo para½ ya½ kañcisatta½ viheµhayanto par³pagh±t² hoti attano s²lavin±sako, so pabbajito n±ma nahot²ti attho.
